Chapter 75: [75 – The Consequences]
After abruptly ending the call, Seraphina threw her cell phone aside and laid down on the bed on her side thinking about the recent revelations. Extreme guilt and concern consumed her as she thought about various scenarios involving Elijah.
The guilt, especially, clenched her heart in a firm grip, slowly squeezing the life out of it. She could not believe that she had let her hatred overpower her judgement. She would not be able to forgive herself if everything that she had initially believed turned out to be a misunderstanding, a misjudgment on her part.
Seraphina could not help but think about the various scenarios where she would end up harming Elijah only to find out that he had been the innocent one all along. All the plans that she had made ended up with Elijah either being jailed for the rest of his life or him being dead.
A shudder passed through her body as Seraphina thought about the consequences of her actions. She had vowed to herself to not hurt any innocent person on her way to revenge and because of her stupidity, blind rage, and hatred, she would have ended up doing exactly that she vowed not to.
The fact that Elijah’s feelings for her were probably true, and that she was going to use his feelings for her selfish reasons acted like the fuel to the fire of guilt that simmered just beneath the surface. Seraphina was brought out of her thoughts when she received a message from Madison that read;
I am really sorry, Sera.
I should have told you about it but I really did not think that it held any importance.
Here’s the list of incidents that I could remember and knew of. I made it thinking that it might be helpful in case we could spot a pattern or something.
PleaseForgiveMe.docx
Seraphina could not help but chuckle after reading the message, especially after seeing the name of the document that Madison had just sent her. She was not as much upset with Madison as she was with herself.
Typing in a quick response;
You do not have to be sorry. It’s okay. Also, I am sorry for snapping at you.

After sending the message, Seraphina dreadfully opened the document that Madison had sent. It was only one page document but the incidents listed on it had Seraphina’s heart breaking and shattering into millions of pieces. Listed on the document were the “accidents” that Elijah had been through in the past year that he had been in London.
The accidents ranged from minor injuries to major wounds to life threatening events. As she went through the list that Madison had compile, Seraphina felt her heart being painfully pricked by needles. Tears burned her eyes, blurring her vision thinking about how much pain each incident must have caused Elijah.
To think that she was going to do the same thing, what difference would have left between her and Marcus then, between her and her enemies.
Seraphina wiped her tears away and this time she went through the document again, this time looking specifically for a pattern that could suggest that these were pre-planned incidents, and not coincidental accidents.

After hours of patiently waiting at the police station for an opportunity to confront Daniel Thompson on his own, Elijah finally got the chance but only on the condition that there would be two police officers overseeing the said confrontation to avoid any unfortunate incident.
Led by the two assigned officers, Elijah entered the interrogation room. Daniel was already seated there, his hands still handcuffed, he was still dressed in his night clothes but what irked Elijah the most was the nonchalant look on Daniel’s face, the indifference in his expressions and posture.
Daniel looked bored, behaving as if he had not just planned to destroy someone’s life. His casual, unconcerned expressions riled up Elijah to a point where all he wanted was to do was strangled Daniel to death.
Willing his anger to simmer down, Elijah pulled a chair opposite to Daniel and sat down. For the first few minutes, he kept on staring at Daniel trying to comprehend about how and when this man changed so drastically or was he always like this.
“Are you going to say anything or is staring at me is all what you wanted to do?” asked Daniel causing Elijah to bristle. He had to clench his fists tightly to keep himself from punching Daniel in the face.
“Why did you do it?” Elijah asked, his voice firm and steady and tone laced with anger.
The expressions on Daniel’s did to change and continued to act ignorant, “What did I do?”
Elijah tried his best to reign in his anger but he was very quickly loosing the fight against his emotions, “You are questioning me? Are you still going to pretend now when all the evidences and confessions have been made and reported against you?”
In response, Daniel leaned forward slightly, staring directly into Elijah’s eyes and with utter confidence, he said, “I did nothing. I do not know what these people are talking about. I have no idea why I am here.”
Elijah slammed his hands on the desk, alerting the police officers, “How could you?” he yelled and the officers moved closer just in case Elijah snaps.
“How dare you try to harm Sera in the worst possible way and then pretend as if you did nothing! We have all the proofs, Daniel Thompson, I will -” Elijah could not complete his sentence and Daniel interrupted him mid way.
“Tch, tch.” leaning back on the chair that he was sitting on, Daniel looked relax and sure of himself when he looked up at Elijah to say, “If you have all the proofs that why are you questioning me?”

Elijah’s jaw ticked in anger and frustration but he did not say anything and clenched his fists tightly while Daniel continued, “And you know what Elijah? Even with all those ‘proofs’ you will not be able to prove anything.” he smirked causing a dangerous spike in Elijah’s anger.
Unable to control himself any longer, Elijah gave into his instinct. He grabbed Daniel by the collar and started punching him, one punch after the other, hitting the man hard, drawing blood.
“You bastard!” Elijah yelled and kept on hitting Daniel while the two officers rushed to stop him. They grabbed Elijah by his shoulders and pulled him away from Daniel who had blood running down his nose and his right side had already began to swell.
“Let me go! I will kill this bastard!” Elijah struggled against their grip and tried to hit Daniel again but hearing the commotion another officer entered the room and stepped between them.
“Mr. Grayson, you cannot take law into your hands like this.” the officer commented, his voice firm and steady, “Noah, Henry take him out of the room.” the officer ordered the other two who were holding Elijah back.
While Elijah was being taken away, Daniel began laughing causing everybody to stop in their tracks and turn around to look at him. Nobody else said anything while Daniel’s laughter continued to echo in the small room.
“Ah!” he placed his cuffed hands over his stomach and said, “You are just a child Elijah. You do not know how life actually works.” the comment was equal parts confusing and annoying. Elijah did not know how to respond to that, the urge to beat Daniel black and blue still raging inside him.
“I would be out of here sooner than you can even think about. And then I will teach you about the true ways of life.” it looked as if Daniel had gone mad but in reality he was taunting Elijah about how oblivious he was to the true reality.
This was Daniel’s way of mocking Elijah for not being able to find out truth about his own father, his own family even after living in the same house.
Elijah shook his head believing that Daniel was spouting nonsense and was trying to mess up with his mind by talking in such cryptic way. Not wanting to waste his time on such a criminal, Elijah left the room in anger leaving the officers to deal with Daniel who seemed delirious.

After going through the list that Madison had shared with her, Seraphina did find it strange that most of the accidents that happened with Elijah, the major ones to be precise would happen on the same date of every month. It could be a coincidence and it most certainly did not sound too strange but it worried Seraphina.
This time they could not make the mistake of overlooking any detail that might seem insignificant at first only to bring troubles for them later. She quickly shared the document with Asher along her observation regarding the accidents.
She hoped for Asher to find out some substantial proof that would help them determine Elijah’s innocence and also find clues about this new player in the game who has his own vendetta against the Grayson family, specifically against Elijah.
