Chapter 82: [82 – Unraveling Secrets – I]
Placing a kiss of Seraphina’s forehead, Elijah bid her goodbye and promised her that he would come back to her after finishing his work as soon as possible. He promised her that he would not only spend the night with her but would be there with her for the whole week.

But Seraphina had an inkling that this might not be possible, not for tonight at least. She was sure that Elijah was going to confront Marcus for he had confirmed with Asher through a message that it was Marcus indeed who helped Daniel get out of the jail and escape punishment.

Though she was not sure but she still wished that he would come back at her place for the night because Blake was just around the corner and Elijah alone might not be able to save himself from his ex-friend’s evil plans. She could keep him safe here for she was trained in not only had to hand combat but also all the weapons that one could possess.

The safest place for him right now was to by her side. Even his own home, the Grayson mansion was not safe for him considering that there lives criminals, monster hiding under the disguise of humans.

Sighing, she watched him leave knowing that either a heartbreak was awaiting him or another web of lies.

Elijah drove through the bustling streets, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. He was trying his best to keep control on his driving but the anxiety and anger simmering inside him gave rise to the urge to run over everything that came in his wat.

His thoughts were fixed on one thing – his father, Marcus.

Elijah could not stop thinking about why Marcus helped Daniel walk out of the jail, be freed of all the charges, all the allegations against him? His grip on steering wheel tightened as a new wave of anxiety and fury washed over him bringing a number of possibilities to his mind.

Questions plagued his mind, questions that he had no answer to. What could have driven Marcus to help out Daniel? Did Daniel have some kind of leverage over his father, over Marcus? Was Marcus forced into this, or did he do it willingly?

The second aspect of this problem agitated and scared him the most. What if his father was a willing participant in this? What if his father, Marcus helped Daniel out on his own, without any kind of leverage pressurizing him? Elijah had to know and he needed to find out about it all now.

He pressed harder on the accelerator, increasing the speed of his car as it weaved through the night traffic, eager to confront his father and find out the truth.

Meanwhile, Daniel had chosen to spend the night at the hotel. He did not wish to go back home at the moment, not before he had a solid plan to execute and deal with Seraphina and Elijah. He knew what he wanted to do, how he wanted to eliminate Seraphina and destroy Elijah but this time around he has to tread carefully or the chances of him spending the rest of his life in jail will only increase.

But for tonight, he chose to relax and wait for the updates from his agent that he had planted at the Grayson mansion, right by Marcus’s side. Even Daniel knew that after knowing the truth the first person that Elijah would go to confront would be his father, Marcus.

That man had dared to barge into Daniel’s mansion and threaten him over a stupid party. Now, Daniel waited to know about Marcus was going to deal with Elijah and answer the questions that his stupid and oblivious son would ask him.

Daniel was brought out of his thoughts by the notification alert sound coming from his cell phone. he check the message that he had just received from the mole that he had planted into the Grayson mansion. It read;

Elijah is here and he looked quite upset.

A few seconds later, Daniel received another message that read;

After enquiring, he went straight to the study where Marcus is.

I will record the conversation and send you later.

A twisted smile spread across Daniel’s face as he read the message, feeling elated over the confrontation that he had been waiting for since he got to know that it was Elijah who had gotten him arrested.

Pouring a glass of whiskey for himself, Daniel smirked thinking about how Marcus did not just love his eldest son but the man was also afraid of Elijah because Elijah grew up to be like his grandfather instead of his father.

Elijah was a man of honor, of morals and a true gentleman but alas! His morals, his truth, his kindness had no place in the immoral world of lies, betrayal, and deceit that Marcus likes to be addressed as the King of.

Daniel chuckled, wondering what the outcome of this confrontation would be.

Seraphina kept waiting for Elijah but he did not come. She only received a message from him quite late after midnight saying that his important work would take more time than he had initially thought it would and that he was not going to come back that night.

Elijah sent another message, a minute later telling Seraphina that read;

I think I will be free by afternoon tomorrow, or today, whatever 😜

After 2 pm, and like I had said before, I will be staying for the entire week with you, okay.

The message did not feel as happy and non problematic as Elijah had tried to make it look like. That is because Seraphina knew that truth. So she was right, he was not coming back tonight. Also, she had seen the whole confrontation and listened to the entire conversation that happened between Marcus and Elijah.

She was rather impressed with Marcus’s ability of fabricating such lies using and twisting the truths that had left Elijah speechless. She hadn’t thought that Marcus would present Daniel’s case in front of Elijah like this.

Shaking her head, Seraphina replied to Elijah’s message with a simple, ‘Okay ❤️’ and placed her cell phone aside. She then switched off her laptop on which she had just watched the entire argument between Elijah and Marcus, and also saw Elijah leaving the Grayson mansion not ready to accept what had just been revealed to him.

Seraphina then laid down on the bed, closing her eyes to sleep.

The next day, Asher woke up earlier than usual and immediately messaged Seraphina and Madison for a meeting for he had some information that he wanted to share with both of them. Madison could not come because she was at the office and there were a few things that she needed to handle on her boss, Elijah’s behalf so they decided that they would update Madison later.

Asher and Seraphina decided to meet up at the latter’s real home, with that secret, hidden room where she kept all the information on her enemies. As Elijah was going to come later that afternoon, after 2 PM as he had mentioned in the message, Seraphina and Asher decided to meet at 10 that morning.

Asher gathered all the information that he had found on Evelyn, Blake, and Elijah and a copy of the suicide note that Evelyn had left before jumping down from the terrace of her penthouse in the hotel that the Grayson family owned.

“So, what is it?” asked Seraphina.

Asher attached the USB drive to the laptop and placed a few files on the table where the cousins duo sat at, “Remember how we thought that Elijah had an affair with Evelyn and was keeping her in the penthouse at the hotel that he managed in Los Angeles, from where Evelyn jumped down and committed suicide?”

“Yeah.” replied Seraphina while picking up a file that Asher had brought.

“Well, here is the information that we missed -” he turned the laptop screen towards her, showing her the pictures that he had managed to recover from Evelyn’s cell phone that was destroyed to pieces.

“What the fuck?!” Seraphina’s eyes widened as she stared at the intimate photos and videos that were being displayed on the laptop screen.

In those photos, Evelyn was indeed with a Grayson, but it was neither Elijah nor it was Ethan. It wasn’t Marcus as well. But;

“Katherine! Holy fucking shit!” Seraphina could not believe that the person that Evelyn was in love with, that the Grayson who exploited Evelyn to the point of insanity which led to her suicide was Katherine Grayson. Marcus’s wife, Katherine, and Elijah, Ethan, and Chloe’s mother.

“Is this true? I could have never guessed that it was Katherine with whom Evelyn was in a relationship with. Hell, I did not even know that she was a lesbian.” Seraphina exclaimed in disbelief. She truly had no idea about Katherine’s preferences.

“Even I am shell shocked!” responded Asher, “I had guessed that it could be Ethan but he did not have that much influence so my biggest bet was on Marcus. But Katherine surprised the hell out of me.”

“There’s more.” Seraphina shook her head and leaned back on the chair wondering what else was there that they did not know about.
