The Innkeeper - Chapter 1500
Chapter 1500: History lesson II
Lex paid great attention to Shireen, as she spoke. It was not just her words that his attention was focused on. From her tone to expression and even body language, each of those could provide an additional hint.
“The name of this Era is the Dawn Era, referring to the dawn of this universe. But, when looking back at this Era, it is further divided into three periods based on the general trend of what was happening during that time, and each of these three periods are referred to as an Age.
“The first Age is, predictably, called the Primordial Age. It was a time when the Primordials ruled, each of them directly born into the Dao realm. It was a time of chaos and confusion, and little is actually known about the Primordial Age.
“But, what is known about the Primordial Age is that many of the universal powers who still rule today came into being in those early days. That is also true for the Humanoid Alliance, who were, back then, one of the leading forces in the universe.
“But… but as the Primordial Age came to a close, and the Enlightenment Age began, there was a sudden change. The reason for that is unknown to most, but the effect is known by all. The Humanoid Alliance suddenly lost a tremendous amount of power, and was targeted by many others. That is also when the fairies fell from grace, forever condemned to live in misery.
“Do you understand now? The beginning of an age was marked by the fall of the fairies. These events include secrets even Dao Lords may not be aware of, and are certainly not things that we, as non-Dao beings, should concern ourselves with.”
Lex frowned, and took everything in. He already knew that this was not going to be an easy task, but seeing as how one of his bodies was a fairy, he wasn’t going to back off. The way he saw it, there were two ways he could do things.
The first was to hide his second body and keep it at a low cultivation realm, at least until his main body reached the Dao. Then his main body could begin to tackle this problem and eventually solve it.
But his main body had its own fair share of issues, which brought him to his second possible solution, which is to grow his second body in strength and identify powerful allies who might want to help. The Humanoid Alliance had clearly been targeted, but the fact that it was still surviving spoke of its strength.
Surely they would want to regrow their power, and there would be forces hard at work doing just that. They probably had a lot of allies as well. He would need to get involved with all of that.
So basically, while his main body remained neutral, his second body would very much have to take a strong stance and involve itself with these powerful organizations.
He hadn’t decided yet which one was the better option, though fortunately he didn’t need to decide immediately. After all, whichever path he took, Jack needed to become at least an Earth Immortal first, so as to attain some degree of immortality, and the ability to live for a very long time.
“Okay then, let’s move onto my second question” Lex said, dropping the topic that clearly intimidated the Valkyries. They obviously knew more than they were saying, or else they wouldn’t be so afraid.
“Some time ago, while I was undergoing my Heavens Guidance, I encountered a special kind of rare lotus. I want to purchase that lotus from the resort – do you have any idea if they will be open to something like that?”
The Valkyries let out a sigh of relief, as if they were relieved that the question was not nearly as scary or potentially harmful.
“Your request is not unheard of. Unless the specimen that you require is something entirely unique, the resort should be open to it. After all, you do have the premium package. However, do not expect the purchase to be cheap. Anything and everything used by the resort is already top class, and for you to purchase something from them, you are setting yourself up to be taken advantage of. They won’t be shy about raising the price.”
“Is there any special procedure to go through, or can I just ask my valet for it?”
“Your valet should be the most optimal way of setting up the transaction. Just be mentally prepared for the price they quote. They will push you to the psychological limit of what you can pay. They’re very good at picking out the perfect price.”
“Well, no one said that Heaven is cheap. Licanderoth, can you come here for a moment?”
As if the name triggered a special mechanism, a flight of light shone in front of Lex, and through it stepped out Licanderoth.
“How may I be of assistance, dear guest?” the Seraphim asked politely.
“I wish to purchase the Brimming Dream Lotus that I saw during my Heavens Guidance. Could you contact the resort for me and find out if such a thing is possible? If it is, please find out the price for me as well.”
“Most certainly. Please wait just a moment, I will be right back,” he said, and disappeared into a flash of light.
What Lex found interesting was that he sensed no use of space during his teleportation. He was using some other means to teleport around.
Lex and Shireen sat in silence while they waited, for the Valkyrie wasn’t really one for small talk. A few minutes later, the Seraphim returned with a peculiar look on his face that Lex couldn’t quite identify.
“Dear guest, the price for the lotus is written in this envelope. I request that you look at it, but do not share the price for confidentiality.”
Lex nodded and, after mentally preparing himself, reached out for the envelope and peeked in. Despite everything, the price he saw within caused his jaw to drop open.
