The Monster King's Legacy - Chapter 56
Chapter 56: Set Out Chapter 56: Set Out A/N: In truth, I just didn’t want a sex scene here, that’s why I shifted it.
… The following day, Lance discovered a terrible downside to his healing magic.
Though it could bring his body back to peak state, it didn’t have any effect on his psyche and mind.
His body was full of energy the next morning, body his mind was exhausted from the night’s work, certainly, handling multiple women was not an easy task.
Rynne and Lia had already found out about what Lance and the others had done, for even then, they restrained themselves for the time being, suppressing their urges.
When their time came, they didn’t want to share it with the others, they wanted him to themselves for the entire night.
“Can we really accomplish this task today?
Perhaps, next time I have to be careful to know when to stop.” He thought to himself.
Well, when the sex is that good, who can stop?
They all ended up sleeping until it was almost noon before waking up.
“Everyone is ready, Lance.” Zarra said as she approached.
“Good then, it’s time we paid a visit.” … The morning mist lingered heavily in the air as Lance and his warriors ventured deeper into the forest.
There wasn’t much sunlight this particular day it would appear.
Zarra and her scouts made up five goblins, while Rynne and her warriors were nine.
Rynne walked ahead of the ground team, her spear gripped tightly in her hand as her eyes scanned the dense forest, looking for any details Zarra or her scouts may have missed.
Lia was dressed in her usual shamanic attire with cloths and leaves making up her clothes.
She could have dressed differently for the travel, but she had to appear as a shaman, hence the choice.
“You look like you’re thinking too hard,” Rynne said, her voice cutting through the silence.
Lance smiled faintly.
“Just trying to stay ready for whatever’s out here, I’m not quite sure how I fair against a beast.” Rynne smirked, her spear resting on her shoulder.
“Don’t worry.
We’ve got this.” Just then, like they had triggered something, a low growl echoed through the trees, followed by a blur of movement as a massive dire wolf lunged at the group.
Its fur was matted, its eyes glowing with a predatory hunger.
“Shields up!” Rynne barked, her voice sharp and commanding.
The warriors responded instantly, forming a tight defensive line as the wolf slammed into their shields, pushing them back a little.
Immediately, Lance positioned himself in front of Lia who turned and faced behind to keep watch, just as they had practiced.
Rynne surged forward, her spear flashing as she drove it into the creature’s flank.
The wolf howled in pain, but it wasn’t alone.
Two more wolves emerged from the shadows, their teeth bared as they charged.
She managed to jump back, dodging the attacks of the other wolves, giving room for Zarra and Rikka to drop from above into the wolves’ blind side, delivering precise attacks, piercing the wolves’ skulls.

“Behind you!” Rynne called out as she drove her spear forward between Zarra and Rikka, striking the first wolf in the side of the head, just barely missing as it tried to step back.
“Their hide is really tough; my first attack didn’t go deep enough.
Keep in mind.” She said.
Zarra raised her hand, signaling for the remaining scouts who were perched on the branches of a nearby tree.
Following that, they loosened their bows, firing arrows with deadly accuracy, targeting the wolves, in attempt to either kill them or slow their movements.
Lance watched from the edge of the fray, his fists clenched.
The battle was brutal, the goblins fighting with everything they had, but the wolves were relentless.
Spotting a breach, he pulled back an injured warrior, his hand glowing faintly as he sealed a deep gash on the goblin’s arm.
“Stay still,” he said, his voice calm but firm.
“You’ll be back in the fight soon.” Lia stood at the edge of the battlefield, chanting softly as she wove protective barriers around the goblins.
Her golden eyes glinted with concentration as she summoned bursts of magic to distract the wolves too, creating opportunity for the rest to strike.
“These wolf beasts, their movements are a problem,” Lance muttered, watching as Rynne narrowly avoided a snapping jaw.
Fighting an enemy that moved with four limbs was very much different from one that moved with two.
The tide began to turn as the goblins’ coordination overwhelmed the wolves.
Dran struck the killing blow on the largest wolf, seizing the opportunity while Rynne held it down.
With a and around it’s thick neck, she locked it in place, wrestling with it for dominance.
Dran’s spear pierced its heart several times, until it stopped moving.
The remaining wolves retreated into the forest, their howls echoing in defeat.
The goblins cheered, their victory hard-earned but well-deserved.
“You did good Dran, a powerful warrior indeed!” Rynne said as she patted his shoulder, almost knocking him off balance.
“You too, Rikka, and everyone.” She added.
“Hmph, I could have killed it in one strike.” Rikka scoffed while turning her face the other way.
“Then why didn’t you?
You’re the fast one after all, you should have reached it easily.” Dran retorted, a triumphant smirk on his face.
His and Rikka’s rivalry had long been an open thing, but more than not, they only spoke harsh remarks as banter and nothing deep.
“Hmph, if you’re that great, why don’t you come skin this beast by yourself, I challenge you.” “T-that’s not my specialty, and its not strength in battle either, don’t try to be smart.” “Tsk, tsk, meat head.” They quickly took the wolf and brought the body to a different location where they skinned it and took its fur and divided its other body parts into different sections.
The meat itself was much, so they hid everything, to be brought back when they returned.
