The Monster King's Legacy - Chapter 60
Chapter 60: Driving Unity Chapter 60: Driving Unity With Lance’s tribe quickly becoming a melting pot of several goblin tribes, not everyone could get along with one another as easily, just as expected.
More surprising even, was the fact that it took so long for the issue to fully arise.
“This won’t work, not like this.” Lia complained with a sigh.
She had complained and felt almost useless before when the tribe was still small, but with the addition of all the new tribes incorporated into theirs, she now had more work and responsibilities than ever before.
“You look stressed out.” Lance said, smiling faintly as he stroked a stray stand of hair out of her face, making her expression relax a bit.
“I haven’t had so much to do in such a long time, it’s left me.
But with you around, I have such a good foot steps to follow.” Lia said, putting her hands around Lance’s neck and panting a soft kiss that lasted a couple minutes.
Following a lot of influence, Lance had imparted a lot of human culture onto them when it came to showing of love, outside plain raw sex.
Not strange also, was them having tailored to these other ways also.
“Don’t worry too much, it’s a natural process.
As long as there were no initial fights or major conflicts, it’ll smoothen out naturally.” Lance said, patting her hair gently.
“We should organize some kind festival to celebrate the new tribe, it’s long overdue by now.” “That’s a good idea, I’ll organize that.” … Just as planned, the goblin camp buzzed with anticipation as preparations for the “unification ceremony” as it was tagged begun.
Now, the time had come to unite everyone, creating a single, cohesive community under Lance’s leadership through the celebratory atmosphere.
As evening approached, Lance stood at the center of the camp, watching as goblins worked to decorate the main clearing.
Brightly dyed fabrics hung from the trees, while Lia directed a team to construct a wooden totem adorned with several symbols.
“Is this over the top?” Lance asked, glancing at Lia, who stood beside him now.
“No,” Lia said, her golden eyes warm but serious.
“Like you said, this is important.
It’s not just about the act-it’s about the meaning behind it.
This will show everyone that they’re part of something greater now.” Listening to her, Lance couldn’t help but question his memory, ‘I’m not sure those are my words… well, it doesn’t do any harm, does it?’ As night fell, the camp gathered around the central fire, the celebration going strong and well.
Following drinks made from fruits and a few other spices, Lia took the central stage, her full shaman attire drawing all the attention, standing beside the totem, its carvings illuminated by the warm glow of the central fire.
Quickly, but following a lot of anticipation, Lia began with an explanation of the significance behind the totems, each of them representing the different aspects of the spirits that guide and guard the goblins.
Her speech was more engaging for the more matured goblins than the younger ones who enjoyed a good story more than not.
Under the umbrella of her stories and the idea of the goblins being a single people, new ideas were born, and old ones died.
“I never thought we goblins would have any such connections…” One of the older goblins murmured, a satisfactory smile on his face.
Similar to him, others had mirroring reactions.
Lia stepped forward, carrying a bowl filled with a faintly glowing liquid.
The crowd murmured as the shimmering liquid caught the light, its soft radiance adding a mystical air to the ceremony.
“This water,” Lia explained, her voice calm and steady, “is blessed, not just with magic, but by our guiding spirits, to symbolize unity and renewal.
Each of you will place your hands in the water, marking your commitment to our shared future.” One by one, representatives from the original tribes and the newly joined tribes approached the bowl.

As they placed their hands in the water, the glow intensified briefly before fading, leaving behind faint markings on their skin-an intricate symbol that would fade over time but remain visible for the night as they would find out.
When it was Lance’s turn, he stepped forward and placed his hands in the water.
The glow that followed was brighter than before, illuminating stringer.
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd as the markings on his skin seemed to pulse with life, spreading a bit farther than the rest.
“It’s a sign,” Lia said softly, her golden eyes glinting with emotion.
“A sign that Lance is the one to lead us.” Slowly, the murmurs turned into cheers, dying down slowly.
After the ceremonial markings were complete, the atmosphere shifted to one of celebration.
Music filled the air as the goblins sang and used their own vocals as instruments in quite interesting and amazing ways, their lively rhythms echoing through the camp.
Tables were laden with food, roasted meats, freshly baked bread, and fruits gathered from the forest; perhaps the only thing lacking were the drinks.
‘We might need to learn how to make alcohol next time.’ Lance thought to himself.
Then again, he wasn’t sure if that was good for the population, not to mention, he personally wasn’t that interested in it since he never really got to have any himself while on earth.
Lance moved through the crowd, greeting and being greeted by goblins from all the tribes who continued sharing stories and laughter.
The once tense atmosphere now seemed at ease, their faces lit with smiles as they mingled with their newest tribe members.
Rynne approached Lance with a smirk, holding a cup of berry wine.
“Not bad for at all, Lia really outdid herself here.
Do you think the whole thing about the spirit thing was real?” she asked, handing Lance the drink.
“Well, we’ll know once we ask her,” Lance replied with a light laugh, taking a sip.
“hmm?” Something didn’t seem right, the drink tasted off.
‘Alcohol?’ he thought to himself, looking at Rynne who appeared to be totally fine, then turned towards the goblins everywhere.
No one seemed to be acting out of character, at least, not in the setting of a celebration.
“What?” Rynne asked, noticing Lance’s behaviour.
“Nothing, here, I’ve had enough of that for one day.” Mira joined them, her eyes soft with contentment.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?
Seeing everyone together like this.” “It is,” Lance said.
… As the night wore on, the goblins gathered once more around the fire for a final moment of reflection.
Lance stepped forward, his golden eyes glowing softly in the firelight.
“Tonight, we’ve taken another step toward something greater.
But this is only the beginning.
Together, we’ll build a sanctuary where we won’t have to live in fear or isolation ever again.” The goblins erupted into cheers, their voices echoing into the night.
‘Yeah, the alcohol is definitely active.’
