The Monster King's Legacy - Chapter 79
Chapter 79: Trade Networks Chapter 79: Trade Networks Following the events with the spies, the leader of the beastkin, Ruzak, made a personal appearance to apologies and thank Lance.
It was a rather odd situation, a blessing in disguise.
The information from the spies and their testimonies had also helped the beastkin to stabilize themselves by fishing out the ones behind a series of internal conflicts.
After that, the beastkin agreed to assist the goblins further and more readily, showing their gratitude, and also, both sides were set to progress like that.
The goblins lacked a lot of knowledge about different things, so naturally, they would ask for assistance in that aspect.
The first transformative project came in form of revolutionizing the housing.
Goblin tents, which had previously been little more than crude shelters, were upgraded into sturdy wooden homes with thatched roofs.
A few buildings even had better roofing, a slight upgrade from thatched roofing.
The new homes were designed to accommodate larger groups and withstand harsh weather, which was not a necessity given the environment they were in.
Some even featured reinforced walls, doubling as small fortifications in case of attack.
Following that was the construction of roads, connecting the goblin settlement to their allies.
Lance had explained the importance of smooth trade routes and faster travel, and though the idea had been met with skepticism at first, mainly due to the difficulty and work involved, it didn’t take long for everyone to agree.
The idea was to make a clear path between each settlement, instead of a full fledged road as that would be more than difficult.
For this part, Lance had convinced the Orcs, so Orc warriors and goblins worked side by side, paving pathways that made the connection.
The beastkin, known for their agility, scouted the best routes, avoiding rough terrain and ensuring the paths were as efficient as possible.
The roads, though simple, were a marvel to the goblins, who had never considered such infrastructure before.
With every completed section, the morale of the workers grew.
Time went by fast, and the goblin tribe seemed to be evolving before their own very eyes.
What once consisted of hastily constructed huts and dirt paths was transforming into something more organized, more permanent.
While the roads and housing were under construction, Lance turned his attention to the fields.
The goblins’ farming techniques which he had pioneered in this new world… at least, to the goblins, were basic at best, and with their growing population, there was demand for more reliable food supply.
Lance gathered his people who were in charge of farming to discuss new strategies.
Crop rotation, irrigation, and better tools, everything was set to improve yields.
Their products, if enough for trade, would make for rich goods.
Lance had Kaeli craft tools like manual plows and scythes, each one improving productivity and easing the strain on the workers, though, for such a world, Lance could argue that the hard labour made them stronger and tougher rather than not.
Then again, the tools would make their work more efficient.
As the infrastructure grew and progress was made, Kaeli turned her attention to weapon and tool production.
Using her forge and the resources gathered from trade and the nearby ruins, she developed advanced designs that astonished even the beastkin.
“Look at this,” Kaeli said, holding up a sleek iron blade with a balanced hilt.
“Lighter, sharper, and more durable.

Perfect for quick strikes.” One of the orcs grunted in approval, testing the blade’s weight in his hand.
“You’ve got skill, goblin.
I’ve never seen such a fine weapon in all my life!” Kaeli smirked.
“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Her innovations extended to armor, shields, and tools for construction, all of which contributed to the tribe’s growing economy and military strength.
With more resources, her products were definitely going to become one of their main line of trade.
… The new roads stretched across the land, connecting the goblin settlement to the territories of their allies.
What once had been an isolated camp hidden in the wilderness was now a bustling hub of activity.
A few Wagons filled with goods rumbled down the dirt-packed paths.
Not just beastkin merchants, even a few curious orc traders came around.
Standing on one of the main roads, Lance watched as a caravan of beastkin traders unloaded crates of spices, cloth, and medicinal herbs.
His eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he saw goblins skillfully organizing the goods and preparing crates of weapons, tools, and raw minerals in exchange.
“We’ve come a long way,” Lance said to himself, his tone carrying a quiet pride.
Rynne who had been standing beside him heard him, with her arms crossed and spear resting against her shoulder.
“It’s still strange to see outsiders here willingly,” she admitted.
“A while back, they’d have attacked at the sight of us.” Lance chuckled.
“Let’s make sure they leave happy.
Good trade relationships are the foundation of everything we’re trying to build after all.” By now, a few more goblin tribes had joined Lance.
Somehow, word of a prosperous goblin tribe had began to spread all around.
While most of the goblins worked tirelessly to manage trade and other things, Mira and Lia had taken to their roles as creators of magical and alchemical products.
Inside their now shared workshop, the air was thick with the scent of herbs, potions, and faint magical energy.
Mira carefully poured a shimmering blue liquid into a small vial, her green eyes focused.
“This should work,” she said softly, capping the vial and placing it in a crate alongside several others.
Lia leaned against the workbench, flipping through an ancient scroll.
“You’ve outdone yourself,” she said, her tone warm.
“These potions will fetch a high price.
The beastkin already said they’re desperate for better healing supplies.” “Right?
I’m so glad we got to learn from everything we did from the elder Orc.” Lia’s eyes lit up a little, “I’m more than happy to learn all the new magic spells.
She seems to know a lot, i wonder how old she is and how she knows so much.” A knowing look then appeared on Mira’s face as she listened to Lia.
“You know, I wonder if she is a shaman?
She looks like you… or, you look like her?” “I look old?
Mira?” Lia’s face dropped to an almost lifeless expression.
“No-no-no!
That’s not what I said!” Lance entered the workshop, ducking slightly to avoid hitting his head on the low doorway.
“How’s everything coming along?” he asked, surveying the neatly packed crates.
“We’re ahead of schedule,” Mira said, smiling wirily.
“This next batch will include healing potions, energy tonics, and even a few protective charms.” She explained.
“That’s nice.
Lia, are you alright?” Lance asked.
“Oh, yeah, nothing wrong at all.
I’m very good.” “I-I see… well, take care, both of you, good work.”
