Chapter 77: Feelings that hunt me…
A heavy sigh escaped the young man with white hair and piercing purple eyes as he gazed down at the bloodied girl before him. She was a bloody mess—her tattered pink hair clung to her face, and her once-bright golden eyes now shimmered faintly, dull and laced with pain
“You shouldn’t have gotten on my last nerve,” he said coldly, his voice sharp with restrained anger.
“Arck!”
The girl coughed violently, blood spilling from her lips in thick rivulets. Her half-closed eyes shot open abruptly, gleaming with a strange light.
“Arch… Ugh…” she stammered before a twisted smile spread across her face. “Heh… hehe… heheheheh!” Her laughter, laced with amusement, was interrupted by intermittent coughs that splattered blood onto the ground.
Tilting his head, Elyon’s gaze narrowed.
“You’re laughing…?” he asked, his teeth gritted.
“To think you’d nearly kill me… just because I spoke the truth,” she rasped, her grin widening despite the blood streaking her face. “Or are you just mad because I struck a nerve? Tell me, dear Elyon, the bane of all gods, the one who rejected the goddess of beauty herself, are you still a virgin?”
A vein throbbed on his forehead, his jaw tightening as he fought back the overwhelming urge to decapitate her on the spot. His hand twitched against the hilt of his blade, but something held him back—something he couldn’t understand.
“Just what the hell are you?” he demanded through gritted teeth, his voice low and dangerous.
“I told you before, it’s… Diana,” she said smiling.
Only his brothers had ever managed to push him this close to the edge and live to talk about it. Yet, here she was—a weakling with an unclear origin—unafraid. No, amused. He couldn’t make sense of it. There was no logical reason for him to hesitate.
Yet he couldn’t do it.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t kill her.
“Why?” he asked, more to himself than her, the frustration bleeding into his voice. “Why am I hesitating?”
“….Because you have a crush on me~!” She laughed like some deranged manic.
“….Tsk,” He gave up, he couldn’t understand what she was no matter how much he tried.
She tilted her head, her grin unfaltering, even as blood dripped from her lips. “….you won’t kill me, Elyon. You can’t.”
“Why,” he growled.
Her golden eyes gleamed, and she leaned forward ever so slightly, the motion almost serpentine. “Why? Oh, Elyon…” she whispered, her voice low, “It’s because I hold one thing you can’t replace.”
….
….
“Ugh,” I groaned, stirring from a deep, heavy sleep.
Huh?
When did I fall asleep?
Wait. That dream…
That girl…
Why am I dreaming about her? Is it because of my blessing?
“You’re awake,” a soft voice said, pulling me fully into awareness.

I blinked, adjusting to my surroundings. My gaze landed on her, the girl before me, her gentle smile tugging at something deep within.
“…Selena?” I asked hesitantly, finally noticing that my head was resting on her lap.
“Yes,” she replied, her tone calm and soothing.
“What happened…?” I tried to sit up, but her hand lightly pressed against my abdomen, halting me.
“Rest a little longer,” she said, her fingers threading softly through my hair. A faintly troubled expression flickered across her face. “It seems you haven’t fully recovered.”
Damn this girl. She’s just too strong.
Reluctantly, I gave up trying to move, though my mind still buzzed with questions. “What happened?” I asked again, quieter this time.
Selena’s hand continued its rhythmic motion through my hair, a surprisingly comforting gesture. Though I’d heard Nelia’s earlier suggestion and knew it was probably the wisest course of action, the thought of seeing Selena hurt in any way pained me.
Maybe all this care is just a façade, a ploy hiding some ulterior motive I haven’t uncovered yet. But… I don’t believe that.
No, something about this feels genuine. And that…
That scares me.
Why do I trust her so much? Why do I want her so much? Why…?
There’s a connection between us—something inexplicable, something deeper than words. It feels as though…
…she’s a part of me.
Why do I feel this way?
This strange sensation is growing stronger. It feels like… hate, yet it’s tangled with a desperate, overwhelming love.
Damn it.
I can’t stay close to her like this.
I’m losing myself.
“You fell asleep,” Selena finally said, breaking my spiraling thoughts.
“Then… what about Victor? Why didn’t he wake me?” I asked, puzzled. That idiot wouldn’t have let me sleep through something important.
“I asked him not to,” she replied with a small shrug.
I frowned. What could she have done to make Victor, of all people, listen to her? The man practically fears her. Just what had she done to him?
“Alright,” I murmured, letting it go for now. I stayed still, staring up at the ceiling as silence stretched between us.
“Have you eaten anything?” Selena asked, tilting her head slightly as her amber eyes searched mine.
“No,” I admitted.
Her lips curved into a small pout. “You know, you stood me up on our lunch date.”
“What?” I started to ask, confused, before the memory came rushing back.
The café. That day she’d mentioned cooking something for me on the weekend.
Come to think of it.
Nelia said something about cooking today.
Wait… Where would she even get the points to buy the ingredients?!
Shit. I completely forgot about it.
“What are you thinking about?” Selena asked, cutting into my thoughts. She cupped my face suddenly, making me meet her eyes.
I froze under her intense gaze. Those amber eyes seemed to pull me in, leaving me helpless.
Her gaze was intense, magnetic, and before I could stop myself, I leaned in as she did the same.
Our lips met in a brief, electric kiss.
Tsk. What the hell is happening to me?
I can’t resist her. These emotions are too much.
I’m utterly hopeless.
Good thing Nelia wasn’t here to see this.
“I’ll ask you again,” Selena said, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. “What do you want to eat now? Food… or me?”
