The Primordial Record - Chapter 1430
Chapter 1430: A Strong Will
After Eva, it was Staff who awoke next from the daze placed by Emithe, her body filled with bountiful energy, which for her was an odd sensation. Due to her talent, she did not like keeping energy inside of her body because it made all her actions to be extremely… volatile.
If she kept any form of energy in her body, without any direct supervision, they would become agitated, multiplying in intensity until they exploded out of her body with a force like an exploding supernova. At the fifth-dimensional level, every gesture she made, even if it was just blinking would release so much force, that it would eradicate everything around her for many light-years, and she had subconsciously learned to always divert all the energy in her flesh when not in use into her dimensional space, this was extremely necessary as she grew stronger.
The Staff that floated an inch behind her back always was her dimensional space, and over time, with the amount of energy she had diverted into it, this space had expanded to a ridiculous degree, and even though Andar might have trumped her in quantity, in terms of quality her dimensional space was much faster.
With the amount of energy now floating in her body, she could explode easily with a billion explosions that would kill everything around for billions of light years, and before she could hurriedly draw the power into her dimensional space, she noticed that they were incredibly stable. This massive amount of energy was just swimming through her body, suffusing every part of it, but there was no indicator for it to get out of control. How was this possible, was it a new form of energy that she had never come across before?
Staff created a small glowing light on the center of her palm, and she retracted it; there was no clash with her powers, and her abilities did not trigger. She did it repeatedly, creating more intricate structures out of this energy until at least she created a swarm of flying ants that buzzed around her hands before she snapped them out of existence,
“Uh, that’s new. Wonder what I can do with so much stable energy running through my flesh?”
Rowan’s voice entered her heart, “You could grow,”
With glowing eyes, Staff turned towards him, regarding this enigmatic man with a degree of concern that she would never show anyone else in existence, even her father,
“You are not in my head, or in my Will, or my soul for that matter, you are in my heart. I never knew that it had a voice. Teach me how you did it!”
“All in good time,” Rowan smiled, his voice still echoing in her heart, “but first, you need to grow, or that glorious energy would go to waste, and it would be a shame; I never knew your body would be capable of receiving the energy in this manner.”
“I heard you the first time about my need to grow, but I have no idea what you mean by that. I can become a giant anytime I want, don’t see any reason to, just a bigger target to hit; I like being the smaller one that packs the bigger punch, you know.”
“Yes, I know that; I have tasted your talents; it’s spectacular, one of a kind, I would even say, but for you, growing bigger would bring more benefits than drawbacks, and it does not mean that even though you are growing, it has to be reflected in the reality that others see. Have you not asked yourself, what is my true size? I know you must have been curious; after all, you have been in my heart, and you had seen my body during the brief moment you were on Doom Star. So how big do you think I am?”
” I- I don’t know that actually, but I guess you must be pretty big; I know your mother was from a Primordial Domain, and you must have, um, inherited her size.”
“Ah, good guess, but you are thinking too small, but that is not the issue here, and that’s a simplistic way of looking at this issue when technically your roots also extend to a Primordial Domain, you should know that Minerva was not just a Dominator, but a Demon as well, and your father, well, that is a discussion for another time. What I want you to take away from my words is that my size is great, yet I can still fit in this small frame, and it is not because I have shrunk. Here, look at me; no, not the whole me; your soul would be torn apart; it cannot hold the immensity of my weight. No, look at the surface of me, at the top of a single hair on my skin.”
Staff looked at Rowan for a moment and reached out hesitantly with her hand toward his face, with him widening his eyes a bit in surprise, but he did not pull away. She licked her lips in nervousness,
“My senses of touch are exponentially greater and yet still much more nuanced than my sight could ever be. If I want to see you, truly see you, then I have to touch you.”
“Then touch me, Staff; I am curious about this sense of yours; let me know how much you can see. You don’t have to hold back; if it’s too much, I promise to draw you back when you reach your limit; see it as payment for letting me observe how this perceptive ability of yours works.”
Staff’s eyes lit up as she took the challenge, and instead of one hand, she also brought up her second, and she touched Rowan on both sides of his face. She was slow, like a young girl touching the face of her first lover for the first time, and when she laid hands on his skin, she gasped as her white hair burst out of its binds, floating like clouds and her eyes lit up, shining as bright as the sun.
Whatever she was seeing must have been too much because she attempted to pull away but Rowan stopped her with his hands, making sure they were still pressed firmly against his skin, and despite how her powers raged attempting to pull away, exploding with so much force it would shatter a hundred universes, Rowan’s hands did not budge and no single smidgen of energy escaped from his hold, his voice pierced through her panic and entered her heart,
“No, I can sense that this is not your true limit, and you can push for more. You have not touched even the surface of me, you have not learned the lesson I want you to see, yet you pull back. Remember who your father was and what he believed you were capable of achieving. Do not stop now, or else you have failed him, and you will have disappointed me.”
His words were cruel, but Rowan considered them to be necessary. Oftentimes, immortals of great power subconsciously lower their maximum potential because they have never come across a challenge that pushes them to test their limits.
From the start, Rowan had always been challenging those far above his level because he understood that he could gain nothing from going against those who were supposedly in the same realm as he was. This causes him to excavate his potential to the limits, breaking past unknown barriers and pushing his talents to ridiculous heights. If anyone here at this table was going to be fighting the same battle as he was, then they needed to learn how to push beyond their limits, it was the barest minimum applicable to be by his side.
Staff spoke out as if she was sleeping but her body was awake, “I can see it,”
“Yes, tell me what you see…”
“I see everything, yet I see nothing… I see all of existence in the tip of the needle… I see life and I see death, and they are the same… they are the same!”
Her voice started as a whisper, but then it kept growing until it was a piercing scream, and then Rowan let go, and she collapsed to the ground, her body convulsing in agony.
“Take what you have learned with you, and know that reality is what we make of it. You can be as big as a galaxy, yet your Will would impose on everything that you are six feet tall. Tell me, Staff, with a body the size of a galaxy, how much energy would you be able to pull in at a time, how much could you multiply it when you unleash it? Are you now beginning to understand how truly scary your potential was?”
Even in the throes of agony, Staff could understand what Rowan was saying. Her talents, unlike most immortals, were closely linked to how a Dominator processes their powers, which were tied to their physical bodies.
Her body could hold a lot of energy, and she could multiply that energy, but she had seen her true potential when she assumed the massive formation that boosted her powers in the Great Desert. That formation was similar to giving her a bigger body that could contain more energy, and with it, she was able to split apart a higher dimension.
This energy would have been useless to her, but she had seen Rowan, a fragment of his true self, and she knew that her Will, which she thought was strong enough, was nothing before him. He commanded reality on a mind-numbing level, and she had seen what she needed to do to become like him.
