Chapter 101: Chapter 101 Unfair?
“Since there won’t be any problem with the Director, count me in,” Zen agreed promptly. “After all, all I’ll be doing is riding the horse anyway.”
Somehow, Hera felt a pang of annoyance, and her eyebrows twitched. ‘All they have to do is ride? Ha! Typical of the geniuses!’
“I would love to join too,” Hera replied calmly, maintaining her composure.
Xavier looked up for the first time and chimed in, “Me too.”
Upon hearing their responses, Bry’s Dad and Uncle were both ecstatic. Initially, Bry’s Dad and two other friends were supposed to be the ones racing on Saturday with the horses Hera, Zen, and Xavier had used to race earlier.
The three horses would be used for the race, and they wanted to be as careful as possible, especially with Diamond. They wouldn’t want to let them run around unsupervised. However, after Bry’s uncle heard Bry and his brother’s story about Hera taming Diamond and running at full speed, he had an epiphany.
That’s why he urged his brother that if Hera were to run with Diamond again, they should seize the opportunity to let the other two horses race alongside Hera at all costs. However, he never expected his brother to agree to let the two guests ride their two other champion horses and race with Diamond.
What was truly surprising was their talent in the equestrian race. Despite being the first time riding the two horses, they were able to push their horses to their limits and perform remarkably well in the Esqueterian Race.
‘If not for talent, what is?’
He and his brother were elated to have found suitable riders out of the blue. He could only thank their lucky stars, especially Bry, for bringing Hera into the stable and developing a bond with Diamond that ultimately led to them running together on the track.
After ensuring that everyone was on the same page and discussing their plans, Hera and the rest headed back to the cabin, while the cameraman retired for the day.
However, when the three returned to the cabin, they were met with an unusual silence. Yet, that wasn’t the concern; what caught their attention was the sight of the other participants sitting in the living room, their expressions grave as they watched them enter.
Hera and the others intended to head upstairs for a shower, but they were stopped by the serious demeanor of the other participants.
“We need to talk.”
Hera came to a sudden halt, her eyebrows raised inquisitively as she turned to face them. Zen and Xavier maintained indifferent expressions, yet they too paused in their tracks.
Observing Hera and the others stop, one of the participants spoke up. “Isn’t it unfair? We’re all striving to earn points to purchase our supplies, yet it seems like all you do is eat at other people’s houses without any consideration. Don’t you feel embarrassed about it?”
Despite their generalization, their accusatory stares were solely directed at Hera, making her their clear target. It seemed easier for them to focus on her, given that they were familiar with Xavier’s capabilities and Zen’s influential backer. This left Hera, who had joined without any notable support, as the most vulnerable target for their criticism.
Hera’s team remained silent, leading the other participants to interpret their silence as a sign of guilt, further fueling their boldness and animosity.
Despite it being only a day, hunger had already become a pressing issue for them. Their lack of familiarity with the work resulted in minimal contributions, coupled with their avoidance of dirty tasks, leading to deductions in points. A meager meal of bread and milk failed to satisfy their hunger.
And yet, not once did they consider venturing into the wilderness to forage or search for ingredients.
“Why do you feel entitled to roam from house to house, indulging in full meals and disregarding the show’s regulations, while we, who diligently adhere to the rules, sit here hungry? This is a reality show, where rewards are earned through hard work, yet you shamelessly exploit the villagers for your own benefit.”
Alice rushed to intervene, guiding the emotional man to a seat. “Please, let’s discuss this calmly. I’m sure Hera didn’t intend to be unfair to any of us.”
However, Alice’s efforts to defuse the situation only seemed to fuel their anger further.
Witnessing the confrontation, the Director became attentive, focusing on the unfolding drama in the living room. He quickly seized the opportunity, posting about the incident on their official social media account to generate publicity.
All viewers love seeing confrontation among other celebrities and the fact that he didn’t have to do anything to create tension among the participants made him happy. He knew that this would make his show even more popular.
As expected, viewers flocked to the live stream, many of whom had been winding down for the day, not expecting any late-night excitement. However, they were in for a surprise as another unexpected event unfolded before their eyes.
“Hera, how could you stoop so low as to exploit the villagers’ kindness? Taking advantage of their generosity without a thought for the show’s rules? Do you honestly believe you’re above everyone?” Alice’s gentle voice echoed in the living room, laden with concern that hinted at the verge of tears after delivering her heartfelt words.
None would mistake her intentions for seeking a fight; she genuinely appeared concerned for the villagers and her fellow participants in the show. She resembled an angel advocating for peace and fairness.
Zen moved forward, clearly wanting to voice his thoughts, while Xavier’s demeanor shifted to a cold one, his brows furrowing.
However, Hera restrained Zen and spoke on behalf of their group. “Unfair? In what way?” Her voice remained composed, her gaze sweeping across each person in the room as she stood resolute before them all.

“Haven’t we said it already?” Minerva’s voice erupted in annoyance. For the first time in her life, hunger gnawed at her, fueling her irritation. She couldn’t understand why everyone seemed to favor Hera and celebrate her performance when she hadn’t even won anything.
She felt indignant and resented Hera for even joining the show.
“Hmmm. I don’t know. All I see and hear are jealous people who are only finding faults,” Hera stated with a sneer.
She was already exhausted from the day’s work and the race had taken its toll on her body. All she wanted was to wash up and rest, but here she was, being questioned by everyone because they didn’t receive the same treatment in the village.
Her temper flared, and she was in no mood to entertain anyone trying to provoke her at that moment.
Alice sobbed as she responded to Hera’s words. “Hera, please don’t misunderstand us. All we want is fairness because we’re all working until we’re exhausted. Personally, I don’t want to see the villagers being taken advantage of.”
[PasserbyGod: I find this amusing. None of the rules explicitly state that mingling with the villagers is prohibited. In fact, I believe that’s the main objective of the show – to allow celebrities to experience village life, including bonding and dining with the locals. Moreover, the director provided the option to forage in the mountains, but aside from Hera and Xavier, none of them took advantage of it. Now that they’re feeling hungry, they’re seeking someone to blame because they didn’t receive the same treatment. I find it rather comical.]
[XoXo: Now that you mention it, bro, I also find your logic quite sound. The director or the crew never intervened when Hera and the others were invited by the villagers to dine at their homes. In fact, Hera and the others simply showcase how enjoyable life is in the countryside and how welcoming the villagers are. I believe this is the true essence and purpose of the variety show “The Quest.”]
[JustReading: Have any of you noticed that the redhead is just finding fault with Hera? I believe she’s also the one who told everyone else about Hera being invited to dinner after the race.]
[AmyLive: I noticed it too. I often jump from one live stream room to another to find something interesting, and I saw that Alice did indeed tell everyone else. I find it rather disturbing that she’s acting like an angel now. I can’t shake off the feeling that she’s targeting Hera for some reason.]
