Chapter 103: Chapter 103 Exchanging Point 2
“Hera, we’ll entrust our points to you. Feel free to choose whatever ingredients you think are best,” Zen declared confidently, puffing out his chest.
Hera arched an eyebrow at Zen’s assertion but chose to remain silent. Xavier, too, stayed quiet, indicating his concurrence with Zen’s statement. Hera stepped forward, scanning the available ingredients as she contemplated a suitable breakfast menu.
Spotting dim sum wrappers on the list, Hera’s craving for wanton noodles with beef surged. However, she quickly realized that the hour’s time allotted wouldn’t suffice for tenderizing the beef properly. Opting for simplicity, she selected the ingredients necessary for basic wanton noodles.
Xavier approached Hera, curious about her choices after noticing the assortment of ingredients she had picked. “What’s on the menu?” he inquired.
“Chicken Wanton Noodles,” Hera announced, realizing belatedly that she hadn’t sought their input. “If that doesn’t suit your tastes, we can always adjust the menu,” she offered, feeling a twinge of regret for not consulting them earlier. Her oversight left her feeling apologetic and embarrassed.
Xavier shook his head. “I have no preference,” he replied.
Zen nodded in agreement with the menu choice.
[XavierismyHusband: Who are you kidding, Xavier? You’re known for being picky with food! Xavier don’t lie!!! You’re so picky with food thought!!!]
[XavierisLove: Brother Xavier, how can you say that you don’t have a preference with a straight face when we all know that you are picky with food?!]
[XavierisLife: Are we witnessing a miracle? Xavier, eating without any complaints? Without being picky with food and such? \(^O^)/:]
[XavierNo1: Oooh! Now that you mentioned it!!! I also noticed that he has yet to act up during the Variety Show!!! This is a miracle!!!!]
[HeraismySister: Haven’t you guys figured it out yet?! Of course, it’s my sister Hera’s magical hands that made it possible!!! ♪~(◔◡◔)人(╹◡╹๑)~♪]
[AuntieNextDoor: I woke up late, what happened?!]
[HeraismySister: We are just Shipping early in the morning! (¬‿¬)]
[AuntieNextDoor: Oh! I’m in!!!]
Not long after, Hera’s requested ingredients arrived, and Zen and Xavier promptly took them to the kitchen. Hera followed, her hands empty, but she shrugged it off, appreciating their gentlemanly gesture.
Zen began by washing the meat, passing it to Hera for preparation while he turned his attention to cleaning the vegetables.
Instead of Hera, Xavier took on the task, asking her for guidance on what to do with the meat and how to prepare it. Hera instructed Xavier to start by cutting the meat into small pieces, making it easier to mince the pork for the wontons.
Hera placed the whole chicken into the pot along with onion, garlic, bay leaves, leeks, and whole pepper to simmer and tenderize. As the chicken cooked, she turned her attention to preparing the noodles.
Zen glanced back briefly to check for any other vegetables needing washing, but instead, he caught sight of Hera expertly handling the noodles. Unable to contain his admiration, he couldn’t help but let out a low whistle.
Once she noticed that Xavier had finished mincing the meat, Hera set aside the finished noodles and waited for the water to boil so she could cook them. In the meantime, she seasoned the minced meat and mixed it thoroughly. Afterward, Hera began wrapping the seasoned meat into the dim sum wrappers, with Xavier standing close, observing her every move. Soon enough, he joined in and started wrapping meat alongside her.
As Zen joined in, they found the activity amusing and a means to strengthen their bond. Their hands moved swiftly as they engaged in light-hearted conversation, seizing the opportunity to deepen their connection.
The tantalizing aroma of the chicken stock wafted through the kitchen, permeating into the living room where the other participants were settling for cereal and plain bread. Their gazes instinctively lifted toward the kitchen, their mouths involuntarily watering in response. Compared to the mouthwatering scent wafting from Hera and the others’ culinary creations, their own breakfasts suddenly seemed bland, like wax in comparison.
After half an hour of diligent effort, Hera and the others proudly unveiled their creation: Chicken Wanton Noodles adorned with generous servings of bok choy, fresh green onions, succulent shredded chicken, and plump wontons. The sight of each oversized bowl was nothing short of inviting, exuding an aura of indulgence and culinary finesse. It was evident that they spared no expense in treating themselves to a truly satisfying meal.
Before eating, Hera set aside a pot of wonton soup and let it cool for a bit, then she sat on the island counter with the two as they enjoyed their feast. Alice also came over to wash her bowl and spoon after she was done with her cereal. Noticing the untouched pot of soup, she couldn’t resist sneaking a peek. A sparkle danced in her eyes upon discovering the abundance of wontons still submerged in the pot, surrounded by a tantalizing broth that covered nearly half of the container.
“Are you done with this? Shall I clean the pot for you?” Alice eagerly offered, grasping the pot’s handles.
“We’ll be keeping that,” Hera replied, blowing on the steam rising from the noodles.
“But…”
“Put it down,” Xavier said sternly. He wasn’t oblivious to Alice’s intentions, and it stirred anger within him.
Even Zen felt disgusted by Alice’s behavior, which had been apparent since yesterday. It was clear she wanted to take advantage of them, yet she lacked the courage to openly admit it, always resorting to sneaky tactics.

“Oh! I’m sorry, I just thought I could help you clean up,” Alice apologized, her voice tinged with regret, tears welling in her eyes.
“It’s alright, we’ll hold onto the soup for lunch. We need to be frugal of our points,” Hera responded once she had swallowed her mouthful.
‘Frugal? How does that seem frugal?’ The group exchanged puzzled looks, questioning Hera’s choice of words in response to Alice. They somehow felt offended because aside from Hera’s team, none of them had even eaten a hot meal since last night.
However, they found themselves at a loss for words, unable to counter her seemingly innocent remark. Hera and the others were preoccupied with their own concerns at the moment, paying little heed to their thoughts. Hera, Zen, and Xavier hastened their meal this time, quickly packing the soup, shredded chicken, and bok choy into a sealed container borrowed from the crew.
They were meticulous in their efforts to leave nothing behind in the kitchen, ensuring they washed all used utensils before waiting on the porch for their guides. Their efficiency left no opportunity for the other participants to engage them in conversation, as they completed their tasks swiftly and silently.
Many participants were eager to join their team, especially upon learning of their abundance of points. However, Hera and the others didn’t gave them the opportunity to approach or speak with them.
[XoXo: Has anyone else noticed how the other participants seem eager to approach Hera and the others but haven’t had the chance? Can someone confirm that it wasn’t intentional for Hera’s team to ignore them?]
[PasserbyGod: Whether intentional or not, I wouldn’t be inclined to talk with them. If all they’ve done since arriving is target others, I’d avoid them like the plague.]
[XavierisLove: Absolutely! It’s evident they’ve been eyeing Xavier and his team’s food since they started cooking!]
After a few minutes of waiting, Bry and the other guides arrived at the front porch to collect the three. Hera brought their lunch with her to her task and intended for Bry to keep an eye on it while she worked.
