Chapter 110: Chapter 110 Little Madam
Despite finishing his task efficiently, Xavier didn’t immediately rejoin the group’s lively conversation with Zen and Bry. Instead, he took over Hera’s job, swiftly plucking the feathers from the pheasant. With his improved control and understanding of the process, he worked much faster than Hera.
“What a fast learner he is,” Hera mused to herself, impressed by Xavier’s adaptability. Observing Xavier take on more responsibilities to lighten her load, she felt touched by his actions. Despite his reserved nature, Xavier’s willingness to help spoke volumes about his character.
Hera glanced at Xavier’s face, studying it for a moment. When she noticed the glistening sweat on his forehead, she quickly washed her hands in the river using the soap sheets she had tucked into her belt bag. After ensuring her hands were clean, she rolled down her sleeves.
After rolling her sleeves down, Hera made sure they were clean before she gently tapped them against Xavier’s sweat. It was a small gesture of gratitude for his gentlemanly act of taking over her task.
Xavier didn’t glance her way, but a slight smile graced his lips, his eyes forming a subtle crescent shape. Hera noticed but didn’t comment, simply continuing to wipe his sweat away.
But this scene was caught on camera, sending fangirls squealing like lovesick girls watching a romance movie.
[HeraismySister: OH!!! My ship is sailing, ey!!!!]
[AuntieNextDoor: They look like such a sweet married couple!!!! Ugh, my heart!!!]
[Athena_Lowery: My baby girl is doing great, huh!]
[PasserbyGod: They look great together. I wouldn’t be surprised if they become an onscreen love team or even a real-life couple. 🎱\ヾ(^ ◡ ^ )ヾ(´°◡°`)ノ]
Leo was sitting in for another video call conference meeting with his international team when he noticed this scene on his cellphone screen. Instantly, he was furious, resembling a bull with steam billowing from his nostrils with each exhale.
His cold aura seemed to drop another ten degrees, and his expression darkened visibly on the camera. Each representative in the conference call took in a sharp breath, unsure of what they had done wrong. They dared not make a sound, fearing they would bear the brunt of his anger once he turned his attention to them.
The representatives did their best to blend into the background, barely daring to move a muscle.
Leo repeatedly jabbed at the intercom button, his agitation evident. His patience wore thin, he pressed it several times, almost like ringing a doorbell. His assistant scrambled to his office, startled by the urgency of Leo’s summons, as he had never seen Leo behave like this before.
Leo seethed with anger, his vision tinged with red. ‘That brat is seducing my wife right in front of my eyes!’ He had been simmering with rage ever since he saw Xavier getting too close to Hera. Leo understood every subtle action Xavier had taken to gain her attention, and each one fueled his fury further.
He had previously overlooked such incidents and kept his emotions in check, acknowledging that they were part of Hera’s job if she wanted to pursue acting as a career. However, this latest provocation was challenging his patience and raising concerns for him.
“Sir, what do you need me to do?” His assistant stood in front of his table, cold sweat trickling down his forehead. He felt the weight of Leo’s intense presence and could sense the tension in the air. It was evident that Leo was in a foul mood, so he treaded carefully, feeling as if he were walking on eggshells.
“Prepare the helicopter, we’re heading to Autumvale!” Leo said through gritted teeth.
The assistant, along with the international representatives, were all taken aback, gasping in surprise. The meeting they were currently in was of utmost importance, involving plans to expand their territory to a different state. They were in the midst of crafting a contingency plan while discussing the market distribution of Leo’s branches internationally.
But Leo wanted to leave and head where? They all stared at Leo with wide eyes.
“What are you waiting for?! Move!!!” Leo roared at his assistant, veins bulging on his forehead.
His assistant gulped hard, having secretly glanced at Leo’s screen from time to time whenever reporting something or passing an important document for approval. Each time, he noticed Leo watching the live stream of the same show.
Intrigued, he began watching the show out of curiosity, and there, he noticed a familiar username—the same one he had seen on Leo’s computer screen when registering an account a few days prior. Initially skeptical that it belonged to his boss, he became increasingly curious, paying closer attention to both the NorthernDuke username and his boss as he watched the show.
He even saw the 999 spaceship gifts sent by NorthernDuke during the livestream and noted how actively engaged he was in banter with other VIPs. It was puzzling to see his usually domineering boss behaving so differently in the chatroom, using emojis he wouldn’t typically use.
Leo typically communicated with precision, sending concise messages that conveyed his orders efficiently, as if he considered texting and messaging to be time-wasting activities. However, in the live stream chatroom, while discussing Hera, he displayed a remarkably lively demeanor, engaging in the banter and using emojis he might typically consider frivolous and childish.
He could only deduce that his boss was finally showing genuine interest in a woman, and that woman happened to be the one who effortlessly set trending topics in the internet. Moreover, Leo had consistently referred to Hera as his wife, indicating his firm intention to make her his life partner.
“Why are you just standing there? Do you want me to pilot the helicopter myself?” If glares could maim, Leo’s sharp gaze would have done the job a dozen times over.
Taking in all these critical points, his assistant summoned every ounce of courage. “Sir, if I may be so bold, I’d like to assist you in winning over Little Madam,” his back drenched in cold sweat.
Leo’s brows twitched upon hearing his assistant address someone as “Little Madam.” He looked up, meeting his assistant’s gaze without altering his expression or the overwhelming aura seeping from him.
Observing Leo’s silent reaction, the assistant understood that Leo awaited an explanation. “I’ve been following the live stream of ‘The Quest’ Variety Show and noticed Miss Ainsley’s presence,” he clarified, gathering confidence as he spoke. “It’s evident she wouldn’t take kindly to an unexpected intrusion on their filming location. From what I’ve seen, she’s not one to appreciate strangers pressuring her into actions she’s not comfortable with.”

Observing Leo’s furrowed brow, the assistant sensed his displeasure at being referred to as a “stranger.” Quickly rephrasing his words, he continued, “I mean, Little Madam might not consider you a stranger, but if we were to go there, what would we say? It would certainly put Little Madam in a tough spot.”
Leo was acutely aware of his impulsiveness at that moment. He couldn’t tolerate the smug look on Xavier’s face any longer. He yearned to wipe that smile off Xavier’s face, but he hesitated. Leo didn’t want Hera to perceive him as violent or ruthless, fearing it might potentially make her hate him.
He glared at his cellphone screen with eyes burning red. On it, Hera was still wiping off Xavier’s sweat while smiling and engaging in conversation with him.
He felt a surge of jealousy, wishing he were in Xavier’s place. For the first time in their long tenure under Leo, his assistant and the representatives saw him looking aggrieved, almost like a child. Their parental instincts kicked in, and they began offering words of advice. Judging from Leo and his assistant’s small talk, they could already discern the situation, so they offered some of their own useful love advice.
Initially as apprehensive as Leo’s assistant, once they noticed Leo’s silent demeanor, they grew excited and continued offering advice. They even offered to send him soft copies of notes on how they won over their wives and shared their own experiences and strategies.
This incident left them with a new impression of Leo. They became even more eager to work under him, seeing him not only as a good and competitive leader but also as a man willing to go to great lengths to win over his love, demonstrating a willingness to adapt and change course when necessary.
