Chapter 121: Chapter 121 Rafael Being Scolded
Xavier didn’t leave after Hera went inside her room to get some clothes. Instead, he waited patiently for her outside, leaning his back against the wall with his eyes fixed on her door. His thoughts were inscrutable, hidden behind a blank expression.
[XavierisLife: Ah!!!! I don’t usually like anyone getting too close to Xavier, but why do I find their interaction so much to my liking?! I am swooning!!!]
[XavierismyHusband: I was also thinking the same thing, sis! I was even wondering if I’m watching a drama instead of a Variety Show anymore.]
[AuntieNextDoor: Ugh! My ship is sailing!!! The captain is really good at maneuvering against the bishes and assholes on the perimeter!!!!]
[Athena_Lowery: Hahaha! You said it! Hera could take care of the bishes and assholes on her own, but it’s not so bad to have a knight in shining armor personally protect her from the filth.
ᕙ (° ͜ʖ °) ᕗ]
[NorthernDuke: This wouldn’t have happened if someone out there knew how to take care of their sister’s leash so she wouldn’t bite just anyone she sees. Moreover, it’s troubling that those involved in causing trouble are affiliated with his company. It makes one question the company’s ability to cultivate responsible individuals.]
[GoldenLight: I don’t mean any offense @EntertainmentKing, but why does your sister act so differently from you and your whole family? Does she have a princess syndrome?]
[FatherOfCaduceus: @EntertainmentKing, your sister is fortunate that Xavier still shows respect for you and did not publicly criticize your sister. You better step up if you don’t want your sister to cause bigger issues in the future.]
[Dave_Carson: @EntertainmentKing, I’ve been telling you that your family has been coddling your sister like a child. Look at what happened now. ╮(╯3╰)╭]
[@EntertainmentKing: …]
[NortherDuke: I hate to see that Xavier was being too close to my wife but I’m not blind to not appreciate him for protecting her when it mattered. I just wish I could’ve been the one to do it.
(╥﹏╥)]
After observing the VIPs’ chat and the one-sided scolding directed at EntertainmentKing, coupled with mentions of his sister, they had an epiphany. They realized that they were probably referring to Minerva. Given her penchant for flaunting her identity as the sole heiress of the Briley, they were well aware of her background and the fact that she had an older brother.
The brother in question was none other than Rafael Briley, the mastermind behind SOE’s emergence as one of the foremost entertainment companies nationwide. With his strategic brilliance, he propelled the company to compete fiercely against the entrenched giant, UE. Rafael’s exceptional leadership had not only elevated SOE’s status domestically but also positioned it prominently on the global stage.
While Rafael was recognized by name, his appearance remained relatively unknown. Interviews and public engagements were typically managed by his vice president, this maintained a more elusive presence for him in the industry. This was in stark contrast to Minerva’s approach, as she consistently sought the spotlight and relished being in the public eye.
While Rafael didn’t always condone his sister’s misbehavior, his parents often indulged her, sometimes at the expense of others. This dynamic made Rafael the sole voice of reason in their family. However, he tended to overlook his sister’s actions unless they directly impacted him. Instead, he occasionally offered gentle reminders to steer her back on track.
Rafael found himself unexpectedly subjected to public criticism from his friends due to his sister’s actions. Feeling embarrassed, he found it difficult to retaliate against NorthernDuke’s taunts, knowing deep down that they held some truth. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that all three individuals causing trouble for Hera were indeed affiliated with his company.
At first, he did not know about Alice’s affiliation to his company because he wasn’t the one who scouted her nor even heard of her name before, but after the first instance that he noticed Alice acting against Hera, he asked his assistant to look into Alice’s background and only then did he found out that she was actually working in his company as a newly signed artist and this was supposed to be her first appearance on TV.
Despite his frustration that Hera hadn’t signed with his company, Rafael prioritized ensuring she faced no industry issues caused by his people. Keeping his sister grounded was challenging enough, especially with parental backing and her current boyfriend, Alexi, who still harbored feelings for Hera. This situation only heightened Rafael’s anger, prompting him to contact the manager who had signed Alice to his company.
Like Xavier, Rafael was well-versed in the schemes and tactics artists employed behind closed doors for their advantage. He could discern Alice’s intentions clearly. If her target had been someone else, he might have acknowledged her cunning and sharp mind, even offering compliments. However, given that her target was the person he had been seeking to draw closer to snatch her away from UE, his perception of Alice’s actions fas drastically reached the bottom.
Now he realized that this situation was making it even more challenging for him to approach Hera. His sister was constantly causing her trouble, and his own artists were harassing her relentlessly. He felt a throbbing headache forming at his temples, a precursor to an incoming migraine.
“Sir, the manager is here,” his assistant interjected, pulling him from his thoughts. A woman in her mid-30s entered the office, dressed in a pastel blue midi skirt with a coat draped over a white shirt. Her demeanor exuded decisiveness, and her aura radiated strength. She was Betty’s rival from UE, the very manager who had overseen Xavier’s early career in the industry, guiding him through numerous auditions and training sessions.
Having ascended to the rank of an A-list manager, she had moved beyond directly overseeing Xavier’s career. While Xavier technically remained under her care, he largely operated independently, accompanied only by his assistant and road manager for travel arrangements. Xavier’s career had reached a level where opportunities flowed toward him effortlessly, relieving her of the need to actively manage his work pursuits.
As her focus shifted, she found herself with additional time to seek out and cultivate fresh talent, aspiring to discover individuals who could potentially mirror Xavier’s success in the entertainment world. Through vigilant monitoring of Betty’s activities, she became privy to Betty’s recent signing of a promising new female artist. Inspired by this move, she embarked on a similar quest, ultimately stumbling upon Alice almost ‘by chance’.
Upon encountering Alice’s striking visage and witnessing her passable acting skills during a performance at the academy-affiliated theater, she discerned the potential for Alice’s acting career to flourish with proper guidance and development over time. Moreover, she astutely observed that beneath Alice’s outward appearance of looking fragile and timid lay a sharp intellect, adept at seizing opportunities to her advantage.
However, she was taken aback by Alice’s penchant for causing trouble on the show. This behavior came as a surprise, as she had perceived Alice to be as diligent and hardworking as she appeared. Witnessing Alice’s actions filled her with disappointment and frustration, especially upon realizing that Betty’s newly signed artist seemed to outshine her own.
She felt scammed and frustrated.
“I hope you already know why I called for you here?” Rafael’s infuriated voice echoed in the room which brought her back to her senses from thinking about her next action because even after she let the PR department lead the discussion in some other way, Xavier and Hera’s fans are stubbornly causing trouble, coupled with the VIPs that are adding fuel to the fire.
Alice’s reputation is nearly ruined by now, and if she can’t find a way to prevent Alice from causing trouble, then Alice’s career will come to a sudden halt before it even begins.

“I apologize, sir, for my shortcomings in managing my own artist.” Without needing an explanation for Rafael’s summons, she had pieced it together. She had been monitoring the livestream’s chatroom and observing the VIPs in Hera’s chatroom, which had attracted significant attention. It was only now that she realized Rafael was the EntertainmentKing, as he was being called out by other VIPs due to Minerva’s actions.
“I don’t need your apologies; I want an action plan. And why did you even sign someone with such a questionable personality? Are you planning to drag the entire company into a mess?” Rafael’s tone conveyed his attempt to rein in his temper, which had been tested repeatedly. Despite working overtime in his office, he continued to monitor the livestream.
Like his other friends, Rafael was a workaholic, rarely going home and treating the workplace as his second home. However, it was only recently that he took time to watch a particular show while working. Lately, it had become a habit for him to keep the livestream on while he worked, occasionally even sending messages in the chatroom.
