Chapter 122: Chapter 122 Fire
As Rafael reprimanded his subordinate for causing the issue, Xavier remained silently waiting for Hera to emerge from her room. When she finally did, he quietly trailed behind her until she reached the bathroom.
The other participants lingered in the living room and dining area. Xavier narrowed his eyes as he glanced around before leaning against the bathroom door, patiently awaiting for Hera to finish her bath in silence.
Hera, on the other hand, understood that Xavier’s presence outside the bathroom door was a protective measure, aimed at preventing others from picking fights with her when she was alone. Despite this assurance, she couldn’t shake off a sense of restlessness, knowing that Xavier was waiting just outside.
As she sat in the bathtub, washing away the day’s grime, Hera felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. The earlier scene replayed in her mind incessantly, highlighting Xavier’s unwavering protectiveness.
“Does this mean my mission is complete?” she pondered internally, her thoughts tinged with guilt. She felt dishonest as if she weren’t reciprocating Xavier’s honesty, genuineness, and willingness to shield her from everyone else.
However, amidst her conflicting feelings, Hera knew that her interactions with Xavier were genuine and sincere. While she had indeed planned to grow closer to him, her approach and demeanor were authentic. She wasn’t putting on an act, except for when she dealt with Alice’s manipulative tactics. Hera couldn’t confront Alice directly, as she often resorted to using pity to turn others against her.
After reassuring herself that she shouldn’t feel guilty, Hera didn’t linger as she had initially planned, soaking in a rose petal bath bomb. Instead, she swiftly cleaned herself with the Black Opium Body Wash recommended by the sales lady, mindful of not keeping Xavier waiting outside the bathroom for too long.
It wasn’t just any body wash; it had the scent of perfume woven into its formula. But what truly captivated Hera was its gentle touch on her skin. From the first use, she fell head over heels for it, making it her go-to body wash ever since.
As night fell and the need for ranch work waned, Hera indulged in pampering herself further. She complemented the Black Opium Body Wash with the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Shimmering Moisture Fluid for the Body. Since she wouldn’t be tending to the animals or the farm in the evening, she felt no guilt in treating herself to this luxury.
As Hera emerged from the bathroom, her scent enveloped not just Xavier but also those lingering nearby. Alice and Minerva couldn’t help but interpret Hera’s choice of fragrance as an attempt to seduce Xavier, perhaps aiming to become not just invincible in the show but in the entire entertainment industry.
Indeed, they weren’t entirely mistaken. Even though it was unintentional, Xavier couldn’t help but be captivated by the scent. As Hera emerged from her bath, the aroma enveloped him, causing his eyes to subconsciously close as he savored the fragrance.
He couldn’t claim it as his favorite scent, but there was an undeniable harmony between Hera and the fragrance. It felt as though the product had been tailor-made for her alone, becoming uniquely hers in every sense.
Xavier realized that his senses weren’t the only things responding to her enchanting scent. As he met Hera’s gaze, her watery eyes, and flushed cheeks after the bath stirred something deep within him. His emotions surged, and he felt a heat spreading from his throat down to his navel, a physical reaction to Hera that he couldn’t deny.
His eyes darkened, but he attempted to maintain his composure. “I’ll escort you upstairs,” he said, his voice husky with desire. His ruby-like gaze bore into Hera’s, filled with hunger and a myriad of emotions that stirred her deeply. Butterflies danced wildly in her stomach, and she instinctively took in a breath, her eyelashes fluttering as she struggled to gather her thoughts.
As they ascended the stairs, Hera sensed Xavier’s intense gaze following her every move like a hawk. Even after she entered her room, she felt his lingering gaze trailing behind her, causing her entire body to tense up and her face to flush with warmth.
As she blow-dried her hair, Hera kept her head slightly lowered, ensuring that even the viewers tuning into the livestream wouldn’t notice any hint of her inner turmoil. While they perceived Xavier’s actions as gentlemanly and kind, they were unaware of the intense gaze he cast upon Hera and how deeply it affected her emotions.
Only a few viewers watched Xavier and Hera’s interaction with keen eyes, and they weren’t particularly pleased with the unfolding dynamic. If their assistants hadn’t intervened to talk sense into them, they might have impulsively flown to Autumvale to whisk Hera away with them.
We are not talking about a singular person who wanted to take action, there are several people who wanted to, especially those who were close to Xavier and knew how uncharacteristically it was for him to stare at someone the way he did.
They might not know what Xavier is thinking but as a man, they knew what might be happening to him right now. Some started to feel worried about this development while others became impatient.
As Hera emerged from her room, she appeared composed, behaving as though she hadn’t noticed anything unusual with Xavier. However, Xavier remained aloof and silent, his demeanor unchanged. Yet, his eyes betrayed a hunger similar to when Hera emerged from her bath. Perhaps the intensity had been subdued by Xavier’s efforts to collect himself, but a lingering intensity remained in his gaze.
Xavier escorted Hera outside, ensuring that Zen would keep a close eye on her before returning inside to fetch a set of clothes and head downstairs for a bath. As he finally settled under the hot shower, he couldn’t help but notice the undeniable hardness between his legs.
Xavier stared down at his erect member, frustration evident in his furrowed brows. With a frustrated groan, he turned the shower to its coldest setting, hoping to snap out of the thoughts of Hera’s appearance and scent that were replaying in his mind. Despite his efforts, his arousal showed no sign of subsiding. Determined not to give in to the temptation, he resisted the urge to address it then and there, knowing it didn’t feel right.
So instead, he remained under the cold shower, letting the icy water cascade over him in an attempt to extinguish the fire burning within. He almost forgot to wash himself as he struggled to rearrange his thoughts, only snapping out of it when he realized how much time had passed. It took him a full 30 minutes just to regain control of his arousal and finish his shower in the next few minutes.
When he emerged from the cabin, nearly an hour had passed, and the beggar chicken was already plated into three separate dishes, ready for all of them to enjoy.
“What took you so long? Were you taking a long dump?” Zen teased Xavier with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Xavier opted not to respond, preferring to let them believe he had simply taken a long time shitting in the bathroom rather than entertain the awkward thought that he might have been fantasizing about Hera.
