Chapter 128: Chapter 128 2 Glasses of 500g of Milk
The uncle snatched the fish almost instantly when Hera finally let go, fearing she might retract her offer. He then led her to the duck house where his wife at and gestured for her to give him 5 duck eggs. His wife looked at the fish he had in his hands and shook her head in defeat as she went inside the fence to gather the duck egg from the nest.
After carefully gathering the required number, she covered them with hay and arranged them in a woven basket before presenting them to Hera.
[Xoxo: That’s smart of Hera to use this method… Hahaha!]
[AuntieNextDoor: 2 items down in one go already! Woohoo! y(^ ヮ^)y]
[HeraismySister: So, this is the reason sister Hera is not afraid a single bit and was leisurely fishing instead!]
[PasserbyGod: I told you, she has a plan. ( ´・ω・)人(˘ ε˘ )]
[NorthernDuke: @PasserbyGod, stop acting so proud of my wife, I can do that just fine. (¬_¬)]
After bartering one fish for the wool and duck egg, Hera carefully secured it in her backpack, taking extra care to ensure the egg remained intact. Satisfied with her precautions, she continued on to her next destination.
She followed the familiar path to the cattle barn where she had completed her initial task. As she approached, Hera couldn’t help but notice some familiar faces taking a break near the barn entrance. Upon seeing her, they greeted her with smiles, and Aunt Sabby even began waving enthusiastically for Hera to come closer.
They are even more excited, they are already well aware of the event and had even made it hard for the other participant to finish their task to get the item for their scavenger hunt, and this is probably the place where they spent more time, learning how to milk a cow and draw a bucket of milk before they are given their reward item.
It was a rather petty tactic, aimed at making things difficult for the participants and expressing their dissatisfaction. However, the villagers were known for their straightforwardness; they didn’t concern themselves much with etiquette or decorum. If they wanted to defy someone, they did so openly—just as they did with the participants, except for Xavier and Zen, who managed to navigate the situation smoothly and obtain the milk they needed.
“What took you so long? We’ve been waiting forever for you to show up,” Aunt Sabby exclaimed, her hands planted firmly on her hips in a display of mock dissatisfaction. However, her eyes betrayed her true feelings, gleaming with a doting glow that she couldn’t conceal.
Hera bounded to Aunt Sabby’s side and latched onto her arm, nearly forgetting she held a few fish as she playfully pouted, putting on a cute act. “Aunt Sabby, it took me a bit to get my first item, but I know you guys always treat me the best,” she chirped, grinning and revealing her gleaming white pearls.
Aunt Sabby let out a snort. “I’m glad you’re aware,” she remarked with a smile before guiding Hera inside. “So, what’s the item on your list from here?” she inquired, leading Hera into the barn.
“Aunt Sabby, I just need 2 glasses of 500g milk. What’s the process to get them?” Hera responded, already familiar with the game’s rules. She had been planning to exchange the fish for the milk but was preempted by Aunt Sabby.
“Then go draw a glass of milk over there,” Aunt Sabby instructed, gesturing towards the corner where a cow stood patiently beside an empty bucket. It seemed the setup was designed for participants to sit and milk the cow upon arrival, facilitating the process of obtaining what they needed in this location.
Hera tilted her head, her expression turning quizzical as she glanced back at Aunt Sabby. “That’s it?” She appeared skeptical, as a single glass of milk wouldn’t cover what she intended to exchange for.
“What, are you dissatisfied?” Aunt Sabby’s tone took on a hint of mock anger as she explained, “We’ve been at this since early this morning, with participants coming and going. We’ve had to teach and guide them through every step just so they can get what they need. It’s slowed us down considerably. Do you want to add to our difficulties?”
Aunt Sabby wasted no time in portraying herself as the one facing difficulties, despite her and the others thoroughly enjoying making it tough for the other participants to complete their tasks. They relished in assigning challenging missions and prolonging their guests’ stay. For instance, they would have them draw a bucket of milk just to exchange for a single glass of 500g of milk. However, Aunt Sabby’s demeanor shifted now that Hera was involved. She knew Hera would be willing to put in the work if necessary, but Aunt Sabby didn’t want to inconvenience her. They could even consider gifting it to her free of charge.
Observing the frustration evident on Aunt Sabby’s face, Hera swiftly set aside her belongings in a tidy spot before settling onto the stool and commencing the milking process. With her prior experience, she efficiently drew a glass of milk from the cow in no time.
Rising from her seat, Hera obediently presented the glass to Aunt Sabby, who now wore a contented smile and held the two glasses of 500g of milk in her hands. “These have been sterilized and packed. You may take them since you’ve completed the task we assigned to you,” Aunt Sabby declared, briefly glancing at the camera to demonstrate her efficiency in carrying out her responsibilities.
However, were this scene witnessed by the other participants and their fans, it would undoubtedly elicit frustration to the point of vomiting blood. The stark contrast in treatment, a complete 180 degrees from how others were handled, blatantly exposed favoritism and targeting. Even if confronted and questioned about their actions, Aunt Sabby and the others would remain indifferent to criticism.
The others also smiled at Hera and nodded in approval. With gratitude, Hera accepted the two glasses and stowed them away in her backpack alongside the other items she had gathered.
“What’s next on your list? I might be able to help,” Aunt Sabby offered, her gaze filled with a maternal warmth, reminiscent of a mother caring for her child.
Hera looked up, a sudden realization lighting up her eyes, causing them to crinkle into crescents. “Actually… There is something I need from you, Aunt Sabby,” she said, her voice filled with anticipation.
Without hesitation, Aunt Sabby immediately inquired about Hera’s needs, skipping the details. Upon learning what Hera required, she reached out and took Hera’s hands, assisting her in donning her backpack and carrying the few fishes she had caught.
Aunt Sabby treated Hera with such motherly care that the others in the barn couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. Then, Aunt Sabby took a brief break from her duties to accompany Hera home, eager to retrieve the pot listed on Hera’s scavenger hunt.
En route, they passed the chicken coop, prompting Hera to request a brief stop so she could collect three chicken eggs.
Upon hearing Hera’s request, Aunt Sabby called out to the person standing at the entrance to negotiate. Hera observed the individual exchange a side glance with Aunt Sabby before slipping into deep thought, ultimately nodding in agreement.
