Chapter 129: Chapter 129 A Petty Revenge
Aunt Sabby returned to Hera’s side and relayed the agreement. “We’ve agreed that you can go in, get what you need, and then leave.”
Surprised, Hera glanced at Aunt Sabby with wide eyes before turning to the person standing at the entrance. “Don’t worry, she’s just one of my friends who loves to gossip,” Aunt Sabby reassured, noticing Hera’s incredulous look.
Hera nodded absentmindedly as she was led inside the chicken coop to collect her items. It didn’t take her long to gather three chicken eggs; the coop was teeming with them, allowing her to blindly grab from the abundance of nests surrounding her. As she moved about, she also noticed a large rooster standing nearby. Recalling that she needed a rooster’s feather, that was on her list of items to collect.
Hera swiftly obtained permission from the one standing guard before setting aside her belongings and sprinting to catch the rooster. But the rooster was anything but cooperative; sensing Hera’s intentions, it aggressively flapped its wings, aiming to slap her, and then proceeded to scratch and peck at her.
They engaged in a brief scuffle before the rooster broke into a frenzied run around the coop. Hera remained resolute, determined to catch the rooster and pluck a few of its feathers in retaliation for its attacks. Refusing to give up, she persisted in her pursuit. However, the scene played out as comical to the viewers, who couldn’t contain their laughter at Hera’s expression, a mixture of frustration and unwavering determination.
It was evident that Hera was determined to get back at the rooster, tirelessly chasing it around the coop. The other roosters, sensing the commotion, flapped around their fences and houses, adding to the cacophony. Despite the noisy chaos, Hera remained relentless in her pursuit until she finally caught hold of one of the rooster’s wings. Her eyes gleamed with a mischievous glint as she grinned triumphantly from ear to ear.
“I’ll make you bald, you naughty rooster,” Hera declared with a giggle, relishing the prospect of revenge after the rooster had made her chase it around and deliver a few slaps. Initially, Hera had only intended to pluck a single feather quickly, not wanting to hurt the rooster too much. However, after their scuffle, she felt justified in her petty act of revenge.
Sensing its impending fate, the rooster squirmed in Hera’s grasp, desperate to break free and escape. However, Hera was determined and swiftly plucked two feathers before releasing it. “Hmp! Consider yourself lucky, Mr. Rooster!” she declared triumphantly, holding the feathers aloft before heading back to where Aunt Sabby was watching.
Aunt Sabby thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle, chuckling and teasing Hera whenever she failed to catch the rooster or received a few slaps.
“I had no idea you had a knack for pissing off roosters,” Aunt Sabby quipped, grinning at Hera’s disheveled appearance.
“You seem to be having a grand time, Aunt Sabby,” Hera remarked, feeling a bit dejected.
After their playful banter, Aunt Sabby guided Hera back to her house, where they securely stowed Hera’s items in her backpack. With Aunt Sabby’s assistance, Hera also obtained the pot she needed from Aunt Sabby’s house. Hera expressed her gratitude profusely before heading to the field to continue her scavenger hunt.
Familiar with the layout of the field and eager to save time, Hera opted for a shortcut directly from the field to the spot where people usually took their breaks, where Grandpa was often found.
However, she was vigilant to avoid accidentally trampling the crops. This careful attention paid unexpected rewards when she noticed another Easter egg nestled beside the crops. Its vibrant shell immediately caught her eye, prompting her to pick it up with a wide smile.
The crew went to great lengths to conceal the Easter eggs in the village’s most obscure and unexpected locations. Had Hera not inadvertently knocked the plank on the road, she might never have discovered the hidden egg beneath it. Similarly, had she not opted for the shortcut, this particular egg would have remained undiscovered. Feeling fortunate and elated by her finds, she swiftly stashed it in her bag before resuming her journey.
Spotting the familiar figure of the elderly man seated beneath the tree by the field, Hera eagerly called out, “Grandpa!” while vigorously waving her hands to catch his attention.
Sipping water from his tumbler, the old man slowly lifted his gaze, offering no immediate reply to Hera’s greeting. Yet, a gentle smile curved his lips, hinting at a silent acknowledgment of her presence.
“Child, what took you so long to get here? Don’t tell me you haven’t finished much from your list?” the old man inquired as Hera approached.
“Grandpa, don’t you know how hardworking I am?” Hera replied playfully, her grin widening as she drew nearer to the old man. Observing her carefree demeanor, the old man sensed her success and nodded in acknowledgment before rising to his feet.
“Then, what do you need from the field?” the old man said, adopting a business-like tone, his demeanor shifting slightly. However, this was merely a façade for the cameras to capture his role, ensuring fairness and impartiality. In reality, he continued to display favor towards Hera, much like a doting grandfather.
“Grandpa, I’ll need to exchange 5 carrots and 1 cabbage from your field,” Hera said, halting in front of the old man, her expression echoing his own.
Perplexed by her request, he echoed, “Exchange?”
“Yes, Grandpa. I’m here to trade,” she clarified, presenting her largest catch to him. “See, Grandpa? I caught this fish by the river, and I even managed to reel in the biggest one and I’m giving it to you.”

Delighted that Hera had reserved the largest catch for him, the old man’s face softened into a smile as he swiftly consented to the trade. He began to stride towards the field, but Hera trailed behind him, prompting him to glance back with a gruff tone, “Why are you following me?”
“To pull the carrots and get the cabbage?” she replied, uncertain.
“This is an exchange. It means this isn’t your task to do. I’ll fetch the items myself,” he explained before turning on his heel and heading to the field, leaving Hera standing beneath the tree.
As the old man had instructed, Hera stayed put, a smile lighting up her face as her eyes sparkled with anticipation. Soon enough, the old man returned, his arms laden with carrots and a cabbage nearly as large as Hera’s head. It seemed he had carefully selected the largest vegetables from his field to give to Hera.
After carefully arranging the items in her backpack, Hera ensured that the eggs were placed on top to prevent any accidental breakage. Satisfied with her organization, she then proudly presented her biggest catch to the old man, who responded with a contented smile.
Gratefully accepting the fish, the old man rubbed his chin in contemplation before exclaiming, “Not bad!” With a cheerful laugh, he walked away, clutching the fish tightly. Observing his satisfaction, Hera couldn’t help but laugh herself. The old man’s demeanor reminded her of her own grandfather in some peculiar way.
