Chapter 162: Chapter 162 The Cute Xavier
After a night of rest, Hera found herself back in her usual mindset, ready to embrace the day ahead. Despite feeling a bit groggy and still half-asleep, she rose an hour before the alarm bell. Gathering her toiletries and clothes, she headed out of her room, eager to freshen up before embarking on a quick morning jog.
As she stumbled through the familiar hallway toward the bathroom, Hera’s eyes drooped halfway shut, still lost in the haze of sleep. Meanwhile, Leo, roused by the faint sounds emanating from the adjacent room, emerged just moments after Hera, only to find her shuffling along with her eyes barely open.
There was one time he saw Xavier in the livestream waking up early in the morning just to watch over Hera who was walking around with closed eyes, he was moving things that Hera may knock over and get herself injured. Observing Xavier’s careful movements to prevent any accidents, Leo resolved to be even earlier the next day to take over this responsibility himself.
It would be a lie to deny the twinge of jealousy Leo felt witnessing Xavier’s proximity to Hera, his chance to care for her. Now presented with the opportunity, Leo shadowed Hera, carefully rearranging any obstacles she might trip over or bump into. He silently followed her descent down the stairs, ensuring she remained steady and safe every step of the way.
Behind Leo stood Xavier, his arms folded across his chest, his gaze narrowed as he watched Leo’s careful movements. It was evident from his expression that he felt Leo had encroached on his territory. Yet, he refrained from intervening, knowing that displacing Leo might inadvertently cause Hera harm. Instead, he trailed behind them, his eyes fixed on Leo, silently scrutinizing his every move with pursed lips.
When they made sure that Hera had safely reached the bathroom, Leo turned around and was startled to see that Xavier was just standing behind him acting like a jealous wife while looking back at him, Leo only look at Xavier for a moment, before walking away to get his own toiletries that was prepared for him by the crew.
Xavier observed Leo’s actions with narrowed eyes before deciding to retrieve his own toiletries, intending to join Hera for a jog. As they both had similar plans, one of them would need to wait outside while the other showered. This meant that the slower one risked being left behind as Hera likely wouldn’t want to wait too long for her jogging partner.
Realizing this, Xavier stopped looking and hastened to return to his room. However, before he could reach the stairs, he was intercepted by Alice in the hallway. “Brother Xavier…” Alice’s voice, though gentle and affectionate, carried a note of restraint as she called his name.
“Brother Xavier, you’re up so early. Are you heading out?” Alice continued, looking up at Xavier with an amiable smile and a sensible demeanor reminiscent of her old self. “Would it be alright if I join you?”
Before Alice could finish her words, Xavier passed by her and hurried upstairs, only to meet Leo descending the stairs. Xavier gritted his teeth, realizing he was still too late; spending more time downstairs and being stopped halfway through had put him at a disadvantage.
So instead of retrieving his own toiletries, the clean-freak Xavier decided to forgo a shower and simply changed his clothes. He opted to quickly brush his teeth and wash his face at the kitchen sink to save time.
So, no matter how fast Leo was, when he emerged from the bathroom, Xavier had also just finished his preparations. So in the end, Leo didn’t manage to get ahead of Xavier. By the time Hera emerged from her room, both Leo and Xavier were already waiting in the corridor.
“Are you heading out for a run too?” Leo stepped forward, feigning as if he had just left his room, though he had been there for a few extra minutes, engaging in a silent standoff with Xavier while waiting for Hera to come out of her room.
Hera nodded eagerly in response. “Absolutely! There’s nothing quite like the morning air in the countryside to invigorate the senses and lift the spirits. Care to join me?”
Leo’s demeanor softened into a gentle smile as he looked at Hera. “What a coincidence. My assistant mentioned how the fresh air in the countryside can do wonders for both health and mental clarity.” With a gallant gesture, he took Hera’s hand and wanted to lead her downstairs.
Xavier was taken aback by Leo’s smooth move to steal Hera’s attention, leaving him without a chance to shine. But he wasn’t about to give up. Following behind Hera, he reached out and took her other hand. “I’m coming too.”
Upon hearing Xavier’s voice, Hera turned to see his endearing appearance. Despite brushing his teeth and washing his face, he seemed to have forgotten to comb his hair, likely due to his preoccupation with not being outdone by Leo. It was evident that he hadn’t checked himself in the mirror afterward. Leo, of course, wouldn’t bother to mention that Xavier’s hair resembled a bird’s nest.
Leo couldn’t help but suppress a sneaky laugh at Xavier’s current disheveled appearance, contrasting with his own impeccable look and fragrance.
Upon witnessing Xavier’s innocent expression alongside his unkempt appearance, Hera burst into hearty laughter, momentarily forgetting all her recent worries. Her laughter resonated through the corridor. In the midst of this jovial moment, Zen emerged from his room, joining the trio.
He found himself surprised by Hera’s unusually cheerful demeanor so early in the morning. Following her line of sight, he noticed Xavier, typically known for his cleanliness and neatness, appearing disheveled yet wearing an innocent expression as he gazed at Hera with a puzzled look.
Observing Xavier in such a disheveled state, Hera momentarily overlooked his usual charismatic allure as one of the male leads. In this moment, he appeared simply human, dispelling her concerns. Zen couldn’t resist joining in the laughter, his gaze fixed on Xavier, while Leo sported a satisfied smile.
As laughter filled the corridor, Xavier gradually comprehended that it was directed at him. His hand instinctively rose to his face, finding nothing amiss, before ascending to his hair. It was then he realized the state of his unkempt bed hair, prompting a sheepish grin to grace his features.
