Chapter 172: Chapter 172 Dave Carson
Zen’s mouth dropped open as he surveyed the parking space. It was expansive, and if it included the other side where Bry’s father was parked, it could easily accommodate ten cars. “How far does your parking space extend?” he asked, seeking clarification.
Hera tilted her head, scanning the spacious garage before gesturing from one location to another. “From there to here,” she replied, indicating the expanse of her parking space. “I believe I can fit more than 20 cars in here.”
Zen’s jaw dropped in awe as he followed Hera’s gaze around the expansive space. “That’s literally half of the parking space here!” he exclaimed, his eyes wide with amazement. After a moment of absorbing the scale of it all, he added, “Even my grandfather didn’t have that much parking space here.”
Hera’s eyebrow raised as she stared at Zen. “Your grandfather lives here?”
Caught off guard by his slip of the tongue, Zen’s gaze darted around, evading the question. However, he didn’t want to deceive Hera, leaving him unsure of what to say next. Fortunately, Xavier intervened. “Why don’t we send Bry’s uncle up inside first, so that he could rest?”
Zen immediately agreed and hurriedly distanced himself from Hera. “That’s a great idea! Uncle, let me push your wheelchair.”
“I’m so excited to see where my sister lives! This place is amazing, like the ones I’ve seen on TV!” Bry exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement as he looked around. He had eagerly pressed his face to the truck window earlier when he caught sight of the extravagant gate and buildings.
Before they headed inside, Hera made sure to text Cindy, instructing her not to go to her penthouse because Xavier would be there. This was why she was stalling in the garage, even entertaining Zen’s questions. If Xavier spotted Cindy, it could heighten his suspicions further, especially since Hera was already aware of their doubts about her identity.
Since her parking space was right beside the elevator, they didn’t need to walk far. Hera led them to the elevator, tapped her card key on the sensor, and once it turned green, she pushed the button for the penthouse.
The buildings within the Green Dragon Manor were all equipped with this type of elevator to ensure 100% security for homeowners or renters. Without a card key, access to the floors was restricted, preventing unauthorized entry. This design minimized the need for extensive security patrols, with personnel primarily stationed at the entrance and lobby.
As the elevator ascended a single floor, the doors slid open to reveal the ground floor.
“Oh! Hera! What a pleasant surprise!” A refreshing, gentle voice greeted them from the elevator entrance, prompting Hera to look up from her conversation with the enthusiastic Bry.
A refined gentleman with a warm demeanor greeted Hera with a refreshing smile. “Mr. Greyson?!” Hera’s voice trailed off as she noticed Rafael and Zhane standing behind Luke, all of them fixing their gaze on her.
“I’m thrilled to see you again!” Luke exclaimed, casting a swift glance over the people on the elevator. His eyes met Xavier’s surprised gaze as Xavier looked back and forth between Hera, Luke, and the rest of the group. Xavier hadn’t realized that his friends were acquainted with Hera.
“Oh! You must be Hera! You’re certainly even lovelier in person than on the screen!” Another voice chimed in, accompanied by the appearance of a head peeking out from behind Rafael. The voice carried both liveliness and a subtle hint of allure and authority. Stepping out from behind Rafael was an equally tall man, just as strikingly handsome as the rest of them. He sported burgundy, slightly wavy hair that had a long hair tail at the back, and captivating amethyst eyes that twinkled like stars. His demeanor exuded mischief, and he seemed to approach everything with a playful air of nonchalance.
But Hera was immediately struck by a sense of familiarity upon seeing him. She recognized him from numerous televised diplomatic meetings with other countries.
He hails from a lineage of politicians. At just 24 years old, he demonstrated exceptional capability by resolving a longstanding conflict with a hostile nation, achieving a remarkable feat of diplomacy without any casualties. His decisive action earned him widespread acclaim, garnering support from other nations. In recognition of his achievement, he received a rare exception to run for the position of the country’s minister, a role typically reserved for individuals aged 30 and above.
He was none other than Dave Carson, the remaining male lead Hera had yet to meet, and the fourth male lead in the novel ‘Thin Line Between Love and Lust’. Known by the country as a serious and charismatic leader, Dave had a reputation for being adept at his work. Despite his striking appearance, resembling that of a male idol, his accomplishments spoke for themselves. He consistently achieved remarkable results, propelling the country to greater heights on the world stage, with no complaints about his methods.
His family had a close relationship with the military, a tradition that ensured the Carsons’ presence in both politics and the army, maintaining a harmonious balance of power. However, this alignment also made him a target in politics, as his influence posed a threat to rival families. They feared the Carson’s power could overshadow their own, potentially leading to their decline over time.
“Nice meeting you too?” Hera managed to reply, pulled from her reverie by Bry tugging at her sleeve. ‘No wonder Athena described Dave Carson as an alluring but cunning red fox,’ she thought, noting the seductive charm in his demeanor. ‘Well, they all seem to have that allure.’
Hera cleared her throat as they made way for the rest of them. However, before anyone else could speak, Luke once again took the lead, not even giving Zhane and Rafael a chance to greet Hera. “Are you having a housewarming party in your new place since you’re back?”
In truth, Luke, Rafael, and Zhane all hurried here to see Hera after they saw in the livestream that she was about to arrive home. However, they didn’t expect to run into each other in the Jade Dragon Building’s lobby. Dave, on the other hand, simply tagged along with Rafael. At the time, he was goofing off in Rafael’s office to avoid his assistant’s incessant nagging about unnecessary tasks. When he noticed Rafael leaving, he decided to join him.
He didn’t anticipate finding the busy Zhane there as well, although Luke’s presence wasn’t surprising given that he also resided there. Dave found the situation amusing, curious to see how things would unfold with all his friends vying for Hera’s attention. He suspected Luke was merely looking for reasons or excuses to invite himself up to Hera’s place when he asked about the housewarming party.
Hera initially shook her head, but then a thought struck her. “Well, it’s not exactly a housewarming party. More like an impromptu meal since I haven’t had the chance to prepare anything elaborate. But if you’re up for it, you’re welcome to join.” She had considered making an excuse to avoid them, particularly Rafael due to his sister. However, she also recalled her personal mission to connect with the male leads, presenting this as an opportune moment.
