Chapter 200: Chapter 200 Dave Taking an Action
Without Hera noticing, her hand had become intertwined with Leo’s. She wasn’t sure when it happened, but Leo wore a nonchalant smile as if he hadn’t notice either. Hera decided not to mention it and let it be. Soon, murmurs began to rise around them, but she ignored them, focusing on the fact that she was getting closer to the front of the line.
“Next!” The call brought her back to reality, and she realized she was now third in line. Suddenly, her free hand was grabbed, jerking her back. Assuming it was Alexi again, she turned around, irritation bubbling up, ready to confront him. But instead, she was met with the sight of a long, phoenix-like burgundy hair tail, beautiful amethyst eyes sparkling at the sight of her, and a smirk playing on his lips.
“I finally found you,” Dave said, gripping Hera’s hand firmly, just as Leo did with her other hand. Dave wore a radiant smile, realizing that despite his close friends’ interest in Hera, they were too slow in making a move. He decided it was better for him to act instead of letting Leo have her to himself. After all, as the saying goes, it’s best to keep the wealth within the family. He believed it was better to keep the beauty within their circle.
Unlike his other friends, Dave had the thickest skin and wouldn’t let a chance slip away once it presented itself. So, even though he was the last to develop an interest in her, he had no intention of dilly-dallying; he wanted to go after the prize right away.
Seeing Leo putting in an effort to win Hera over, Dave didn’t want to be left behind.
“What are you doing here?” Hera asked, eyeing Dave suspiciously. Leo’s grip on her hand tightened, revealing his possessiveness. He knew exactly what Dave was up to and didn’t want him anywhere near her. If he could, he would have hidden her behind him.
Dave glanced at Leo with a taunting smirk before redirecting his attention back to Hera. “I wanted to see you, so I came here to find you,” he said, his seductive voice sending a warm current through Hera’s body.
‘Is he doing this on purpose? Seducing me in public?’ Hera discreetly glanced around and saw female students watching with dreamy eyes. Who wouldn’t want to be the subject of such affection, being fought over by two masterpieces of men? Their interactions were also shared online, catching the attention of the remaining male leads. They were seething with anger, not having realized Dave had grown interested in Hera. They now regretted bringing him along to visit her the day before.
Now that they thought about it, they suspect something happened last night before Luke arrived to fetch Dave, which led to Dave acting clingy and needy in front of Hera. They all knew how cunning and thick-skinned Dave was, and he wouldn’t let go of any opportunity. If he weren’t like that, he wouldn’t have been able to lead their country to become a new powerhouse, winning numerous opportunities and resources from other nations through his diplomatic ventures.
Now, each of the other male leads feels threatened and wants to up their game. They didn’t even realize when they began to pay attention to Hera and how their feelings blossomed. However, since Dave took the first step, they all soon followed. Yet, it seems the universe has other plans, as emergencies keep them tied up. For instance, Zhane has an emergency surgery for an old veteran, causing his consultation with Bry’s uncle to be postponed until the afternoon. He just needs to wait until then to meet Hera, but he feels anxious knowing that even his own friends are vying for her attention.
Rafael was dealing with a crisis at his company involving an A-list celebrity caught in a scandal that was making waves on the internet. If it weren’t for the private photos of Hera from the university circulating online, giving him a brief respite, he would still be overwhelmed by the scandal threatening his company’s reputation. Meanwhile, Luke was stuck in an emergency meeting, and Xavier had just arrived in country D for an endorsement deal. When he saw the photos of Hera with Leo, he wanted to return immediately, but the company that hired him had already intercepted him before he could make a move.
So, they could only grit their teeth and watch the developments between Dave, Leo, and Hera unfold. Athena, on the other hand, was thoroughly enjoying the drama, the only thing missing was popcorn and a Coke for her to fully enjoy the show.
Just a few days ago, Leo believed that Dave was unaware of who Hera was and was merely teasing his friends for fun. Now, Leo feels like he’s missed something crucial and doesn’t know when Dave got close to Hera. He knows that Dave can be as sly as a fox and worries that Hera might be deceived by him if she stays in his company.
Leo fretted over Hera’s gentle disposition, fearing she might fall prey to Dave’s cunning charm and even willingly assist him in his schemes. “You seem rather relaxed. Should I ring your assistant and inform them of your leisurely rendezvous at the university looking for a lady?” Leo’s tone carried a subtle threat. He was keenly aware of Dave’s habit of shirking his responsibilities, leaving his assistants to manage neglected tasks while he pursued leisure activities, much to the concern of his confidants.
“Oh! I have some important matters to discuss with her, you know,” Dave remarked with a mysterious smile, subtly taunting Leo, hoping to stir confusion.
“What could that possibly be?” Leo inquired with forced calmness, despite grasping Dave’s implied meaning, he chose to feign ignorance and disregard it.
“Are you sure you wanted to hear our rendevous in her place?” Dave’s words echoed hauntingly as a smug smirk danced on his lips, deliberately striking a nerve with Leo. Jealousy surged through Leo, his grip on Hera’s hand tightening involuntarily. Despite his attempt to feign ignorance of Dave’s insinuation, Leo couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling in his chest. He understood Dave’s reputation for cunning, yet he also recognized Dave don’t lie about important matters. Glancing at Hera, Leo silently sought reassurance, hoping to find solace in her expression.
