Chapter 209: Chapter 209 Are you Drugged?
Seeing Leo shamelessly seducing Hera right before his eyes, Dave’s nostrils flared like a bull ready to charge, his gaze fixed on Leo with intense fury. With a few quick strides, he was standing directly behind Leo. The atmosphere in the room grew tense, and even the other occupants fell silent as if trying to fade into the background amidst the escalating tension. Sensing the shift in dynamics, the performers discreetly exited the room, leaving Hera and the others unaware of their departure. Even the woman and the sommelier began to make their way out, giving the trio some privacy.
Dave’s question halted them all and snapped Hera out of her trance. “Dude, are you drugged?” Dave’s initial anger shifted to concern as he reached out, touching Leo’s neck. The moment their skin made contact, Dave felt Leo’s body as hot as a frying pan, a clear indication that something was seriously wrong with him.
Leo remained silent, seemingly lost in his own world, consumed by his desires and struggling to maintain control. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he fought against whatever influence was overpowering him. Hera, feeling a surge of anger toward whoever had drugged Leo, gently touched his forehead, confirming that he was indeed burning up. She chastised herself for letting desire cloud her judgment earlier, failing to notice Leo’s distress.
“Investigate this matter!” Hera’s voice, though not loud, reverberated through the silent room. The anger in her shaky tone was palpable, and everyone present could feel her fury.
Without hesitation, the woman and the sommelier left the room, the woman immediately starting the investigation. She also informed Gerald and Cindy, that knowing their higher access within the system would be invaluable. Dave had no issue with how the staff reacted, recognizing that the incident had occurred in their establishment and required their prompt attention.
Incidents like this were unheard of at Dragon Palace Hotel. The hotel’s impeccable security measures and unbribable staff ensured such occurrences were virtually impossible. As the only 7-star hotel in the country and the world, maintaining a flawless reputation was paramount. To achieve this, the hotel offered salaries five times higher than those of five-star hotels, attracting top-tier employees and ensuring unparalleled service.
Because of this, the staff had no incentive to accept bribes or engage in misconduct. They understood that the consequences would be severe: not only would they lose their job and generous salary, including year-end bonuses, but they would also be blacklisted from the industry, effectively ending their careers. Only a fool would risk such repercussions.
Hera couldn’t fathom how Leo could be drugged in her own hotel, her own turf. Sensing her evident anger, Dave offered to help. “Let me lead the investigation. This doesn’t seem like an easy issue.” He wasn’t particularly concerned about Leo’s well-being, but seeing Hera so distressed compelled him to act. He suspected her distress was tied to a bad memory related to the drugging incident and instinctively reached for the pill she had given him in his pocket.
Reluctantly, Dave pulled the pill from his pocket, intending to give it to Hera so she could use it on Leo and stop worrying while he conducted his investigation. But seeing his action, Hera shook her head and pulled out another pill bottle from her bag. “No need, keep that with you, just in case this happens to you. I have a spare with me.”
Seeing that Hera didn’t need his pill made Dave smile with relief, knowing he wouldn’t have to give her gift to another guy. However, he also felt a pang of jealousy because he wanted to be cared for by Hera just as she was taking care of Leo.
“Please work with the hotel management to investigate this matter. I’ll join you shortly after I give Leo the anaphrodisiac,” she said, pausing for a moment. “He’s been through this before, and I know he won’t hurt me. You should go now; time is crucial. If the culprit notices we’re taking action, they might escape.” Her tone was serious and resolute.
Dave nodded and was about to leave, but her words echoed in his mind, causing him to pause. “He’s been through this before, and I know he won’t hurt me.” His whole body stiffened as he turned back to look at Hera, thoughts racing through his mind. ‘Do they have a history? How could she trust him so much?’ he wondered, a mix of confusion and curiosity in his eyes.
A bitter taste filled Dave’s mouth as the thought settled in his mind, but instead of giving up, he became even more determined to win Hera over as quickly as possible. He feared that if he hesitated, the other men surrounding her would swoop in like hawks and claim her for themselves.
He quickened his pace to expedite the investigation, hoping to earn brownie points from Hera. At the same time, he was worried that Leo might lose control and do something to her. Dave knew his own limits; if he were in Leo’s position, especially with Hera involved, he doubted his ability to maintain self-control and feared he might seize any chance to get closer to her.
As soon as Hera heard the door close behind her, she saw Leo still doing his best to control himself with closed eyes while holding her hand. She quickly took out her phone with her free hand and typed a message: “Cindy, I have a problem here at the hotel. Send some people to secure the entrances and exits, and make sure no one leaves until Dave is done with his investigation. Fully cooperate with him.”
She was about to put her phone back in her bag when she remembered one more thing. Quickly, she sent another message: “Also, send some people to guard the door of my private room. Don’t let anyone enter until I say so.” With that, she tucked her phone away and reached for the bottle of pills she had with her.
