Now that he had made his arrangements, Leo felt confident that even if Xavier managed to send an SOS message to his friends to keep a watchful eye on Leo and prevent him from getting closer to Hera, they would find themselves in deep trouble, at least for a few days. If they were capable, perhaps they could resolve the situation in two days.

Leo happily continued reading as he stole a glance at Hera’s busy silhouette in the kitchen. Then, he remembered that he had overlooked one person and quickly sent another instruction to his assistant.

[Leo: One more thing, ensure that more urgent patients are transferred to Everett Hospital every 3-5 hours. This will ensure that all doctors here are occupied, giving Zhane no chance to interact with Hera while she’s here.]

Luke, Rafael, and Dave were on their way back to the hospital after learning about what had happened to Leo and Hera at the hotel. Now that he had covered all bases and sent troubles in those male vixen’s ways, Leo felt proud of himself for protecting his future wife from the covetous claws of those men and enjoyed watching Hera instead, his eyes crinkling into a crescent and his lips tugging upward seeing that Hera was there for him.

On the bedside table, Leo’s phone buzzed. Even before he checked it, a triumphant smile began to play on his lips. As expected, Terry’s reply had arrived.

[Terry: Sir, all done.]

They say not to kick someone when they’re down, but Leo felt tempted to do just that to those men who coveted what was rightfully his.

While Hera was busy in the kitchen, Leo found himself scheming against the male leads, ensuring they remained occupied and couldn’t get close to her. If Hera found out Leo’s plan she’d be torn between laughter and exasperation. And it would surely remind her of the domineering CEOs Athena often discussed—possessive and overbearing.

Leo’s actions significantly thwarted Hera’s plans. How could she possibly get close to the male leads if Leo kept sending them away?

Despite deciding to stop resenting them for something that hadn’t yet happened and letting things play out, she still needed to beat Alice to them. How could she do that if there were no opportunities at all?

Despite not receiving any assistance, Hera managed to whip up a chicken truffle soup and a stir-fry tofu and vegetable dish, both delicately seasoned. She even prepared an extra portion for Zhane, intending to deliver it to his office later. Remembering her promise to send him food, she opted to cook herself since she was already cooking instead of asking Hannah to prepare it.

She then plated a portion for Leo and left some in the pot to pack later for Zhane before leaving the hospital. As she served the food to Leo, she noticed the eager expression on his face, his eyes bright with anticipation. Seeing how this simple gesture seemed to bring him joy, Hera couldn’t help but smile broadly herself.

Hera noticed that Leo’s IV drip had been adjusted and was no longer as loose as before. However, she also observed that the back of his hand was turning a purplish black, a stark contrast against his fair, jade-like skin, making the blemish all the more noticeable.

Not wanting to see him suffer any longer, she took it upon herself to feed him. This gesture made Leo even happier than before. He had been devising a plan to appear more pitiful in hopes that Hera would take care of him, but her doing it willingly gave him hope that there was a chance for them.

Leo beamed from ear to ear as Hera slowly helped feed him. He didn’t feel embarrassed at all; instead, he loved being pampered by her. His grandfather had been right: winning over your future wife required meticulous planning and, above all, a thick skin.

He felt like all the pain he had suffered earlier was worth it. Even the accident now seemed like a blessing in disguise, bringing him closer to Hera. Any worries he had before were now gone. Leo’s appetite improved, and he ate with gusto, asking for seconds and then thirds. He also urged Hera to eat with him. As she cared for Leo, Hera didn’t realize they were now sharing the same utensil. At Leo’s urging, after she fed him a bite, he would insist she take one too.

Seeing Hera eat using the same utensils made them look like a loving couple. His eyes narrowed happily, boosting his appetite even more. Even when he was full, he continued eating, knowing she planned to send some to Zhane. He didn’t want to share his happiness with those male vixens.

Despite his good upbringing, he could still be petty, and men being petty can be even more childishly infuriating. However, he wasn’t embarrassed by it; in fact, he was a little proud of his work, if it meant to protect his future wife.

Leo’s subordinate, who was silently standing by the side, tried to blend into the background as he held his breath. He was experiencing the shock of his life. In the past half hour, Leo had smiled and laughed more than he had in his entire life. His young master, usually meticulous about cleanliness and hygiene, was sharing a spoon with a woman. A woman! The same gender he had always avoided as if he were allergic to them. Now, he was acting like a couple with one—and he even seemed to be enjoying it.
