Chapter 249: Chapter 249 Logan Walker
Gradually, their small group grew larger as more freshmen joined when they heard that a senior was leading them to the event center. This unexpected guidance turned out to be the answer to their prayers.
Every time Hera glanced back to speak with the freshmen following her, she noticed their numbers growing, making her lips twitch slightly. She wasn’t sure whether to laugh, but she held it in, knowing she was just helping her schoolmates. The tall nerd still walked behind her, sticking out like a sore thumb among the other freshmen due to his height. No one tried to push past him to get closer to Hera; in a way, he acted like a bodyguard, silently maintaining order and preventing anyone from being shoved aside.
After more than 20 minutes of walking, they finally reached the dome-like event center, capable of accommodating thousands of people. Many students were already streaming inside, finding their classes and seats.
After reaching the entrance, Hera waved at the freshmen, who thanked her before entering the event center with pure excitement.
“Senior, thank you for leading us here.” The tall guy bowed slightly to Hera, expressing his gratitude with a cool smile on his lips.
“No worries. What course are you taking?” Hera asked casually, not particularly curious. She was unsure what else to say after fulfilling her role as a senior, feeling a bit awkward about leaving abruptly. She didn’t expect much of a reply either way.
“I’m studying Music and Composition, senior,” the tall guy replied, his smile genuine and reflecting his obvious passion for music. “I’m Logan Walker,” he introduced himself, extending his hand to Hera.
Hera tilted her head slightly, the name Logan Walker ringing a faint bell in her memory, though she couldn’t quite place where she’d heard it before. Deciding it might be a common name, she let it go.
“Music and Composition, no wonder your voice has such a tone and melody to it,” she remarked, offering a generous compliment. “You must be a talented singer.” Hera genuinely admired his voice, finding it pleasing to the ear.
If there were a male siren, it would sound just like him—cool, clear, and with a soothing effect. Logan’s voice had a calming quality akin to Luke’s, albeit subtly different. Perhaps it was because Logan possessed the vocal cords of a singer, whereas Luke was a male lead gifted not only in looks but in almost every aspect.
“D-Do you really think so, senior?” Logan stuttered, clearly unused to compliments. He started to feel shy after Hera praised him.
“I don’t lie. If you have any recorded songs, I’d genuinely listen to them,” Hera replied, sincerely considering it. With a voice as clear as his, she couldn’t imagine his singing being anything but pleasant to the ear—unless he was tone-deaf.
“Um… Actually, senior, I do have a recording of my singing. I was planning to pass it to some agencies to see if it makes the cut. I can give you one too,” Logan shyly offered, pulling out a plain-looking CD from his backpack. Hera noticed there were more than a dozen CDs inside his bag.
Hera accepted the CD from him. As she took it, she recalled something Athena had mentioned before about a talented singer-composer who had crafted numerous award-winning songs and supported Alice in her pursuits. She quickly dismissed the thought—encountering such talented individuals wasn’t as easy as picking up cabbages off the street.
Smiling warmly at Logan, she placed the CD in her bag. Wanting to stay in touch, she exchanged numbers with him. He was still her junior, and helping him out a bit wouldn’t hurt. Since she would be meeting Betty later, she figured she could introduce her to this promising talent as well.
Universal Entertainment falls under the Avery banner, so finding new talent for their company would definitely benefit Hera. Otherwise, Rafael might swoop in and steal the opportunity.
“Since you mentioned sending copies to agencies, are you considering sending some to UE as well?” Hera asked as they strolled inside the event center. She couldn’t help but be curious. Despite pushing aside the idea that Logan might be the genius singer-composer mentioned in the novel, part of her still hoped it could be true.
She couldn’t quite recall if Athena had mentioned the name of that character. He wasn’t featured prominently in the novel but played a crucial role in helping Alice.
Logan awkwardly chuckled as he scratched his nose shyly. “Senior, I don’t think I’m good enough to even dream of auditioning for UE or other major companies. I was just planning to test my luck with smaller agencies.”
“How about this: after this, I’ll go to UE and we can give it a shot. Sound good?” Hera didn’t want to miss this opportunity. Perhaps she was already enchanted by his voice, like a siren calling to a sailor. Just the thought of hearing him sing with that voice was enticing. Even if he wasn’t the genius singer-composer from the novel, discovering new talent was always worthwhile.
Observing Logan’s contemplation, Hera sensed his hesitation. Perhaps he was concerned about potential embarrassment or dampening his enthusiasm if UE were to turn him down. She understood his uncertainty and fears.
Hera added, “You don’t have to say a thing. Just come with me and let me do the talking. We’ll have my manager listen to your recording, and they can decide from there. There’s no harm in trying, right?” She winked at Logan, hoping to ease his worries. “Besides, as a composer, I’m sure you’d love to see UE’s composition room. It’s got everything you could dream of—top-notch equipment, the best of the best,” Hera said teasingly.
Only after Hera said the last part did Logan’s ears perk up. He hadn’t reacted to anything Hera had said earlier, and now she thought to herself, ‘Bribing someone really is the best course of action, huh?’
‘I should also ask Betty for a referral fee for bringing in talent,’ she thought, seeing Logan finally nod his head in agreement.
“Let’s meet up here again once the ceremony is over, and we can explore together afterward. I can give you a tour of the campus since you’re still a freshman and may not be familiar with the surroundings.” Hera noticed his embarrassed expression as if he didn’t want to trouble her.
“Don’t worry,” she added with a teasing smile, “think of it as me looking out for my juniors. Just treat me to a meal once you’re doing better.”
To Hera, Logan seemed like a well-behaved younger brother—sensible and a bit sensitive, easily embarrassed. She couldn’t help but admire the courage it must have taken for him to approach her earlier for directions. Tilting her head slightly, she compared the Logan in front of her now with the Logan from earlier, and it all made sense to her.
It’s not that he has thin skin or is overly shy; he behaves like any normal person would. However, when it comes to his talents and crafts, he doesn’t seem very confident in himself. It’s as if he always anticipates criticism rather than compliments, expecting the worst when it comes to his talent. Despite this, he refuses to give up on his passion.
