Chapter 250: Chapter 250 The Dejected Logan
Hera deduced that Logan must have faced considerable criticism and rejection, leading him to doubt his own abilities. Yet, there was still a flicker of hope in him. She couldn’t know the exact challenges Logan had faced or why he felt this way, but she could see that he possessed a genuinely nice voice and was determined to pursue his dream.
Even if he isn’t exceptionally talented but remains passionate, there are still opportunities for him to work closely in his field of interest. Hera didn’t mind supporting a young man driven by passion. However, if he does turn out to be a gem, she could celebrate her keen eye and good fortune.
“I-I’ll take your advice, senior,” Logan flashed Hera a sheepish smile before they parted ways and entered the event center.
Once Hera was out of sight, Logan made his way towards the event center to find his class. Just as he was about to enter, he felt an arm wrap around his neck and sensed someone leaning on him. Glancing sideways, he saw a guy around his age, slightly shorter but exuding a youthful, handsome charm reminiscent of an idol. Despite their contrasting personalities, the guy sported a wide grin that suggested a close bond with Logan.
“I never knew you were so close to our senior, especially considering she’s the campus Belle,” remarked the young man, his eyes following the path Hera had taken before turning to Logan with a playful expression. “You didn’t even think to introduce your best friend to our beautiful senior! I’m offended.”
Logan looked down and murmured, “I couldn’t even find you. How could I introduce you to her? You said we’d meet up in front of the school, but just before the ceremony started, I got a text saying you were already in the event center.” Despite wanting to scold his best friend, Logan’s voice was barely louder than a whisper, and his friend responded with a devilish grin.
“What are you talking about? I was searching all over the campus for you, thinking you might have gotten lost or something. I stumbled upon the event center by chance and texted you when I got there,” the young man explained, looking genuinely hurt. Other students were beginning to notice, prompting Logan to simply nod and let go of his lingering resentment. They entered together, relieved that being in the same department meant they didn’t need to split up.
The ceremony dragged on for two hours, with the Dean delivering a lengthy speech and the freshman representative adding to the boredom with their own remarks and slides. As the students grew increasingly bored, gossip became the main distraction, particularly focused on the entertainment column. Hera’s presence and the morning’s gossip about her were hot topics among the students.
Hera could hear them talking about her—some made malicious remarks, while others were simply curious. She chose to let it enter one ear and exit the other, unwilling to take it seriously, knowing such scrutiny was typical for artists in the entertainment industry.
Hera was surprised to see Alexi, Minerva, and even Alice in the freshman section. As far as she knew, Alexi had plunged into the entertainment industry right after high school graduation and hadn’t planned to attend college after being scouted.
Their presence there indicated they were likely enrolled in the theater and arts drama department. This realization explained why Hera had encountered Alexi and Minerva at school yesterday. However, seeing them now only reignited her frustration, serving as a stark reminder of the ongoing gossip surrounding her.
She could hear the other students talking about Minerva and Alexi too, about their love story that was completely fabricated to make it seem like a fairy tale to suit the viewers. She could only sneer as she heard them talk about it.
She hadn’t intended to pay attention to the gossip at that moment, but seeing the perpetrators nearby ignited her fury. However, she still awaited the investigation report from Gerald and hadn’t decided on her retaliation strategy yet. So, she chose to let her anger subside first and avoided looking their way. But just as she tried to divert her gaze, her eyes met Alexi’s. In his gaze, she saw a mixture of anger and obsession that Hera couldn’t comprehend—or perhaps didn’t want to.
She had long since stopped caring about Alexi’s opinions, so when he flashed his most charming smile at her, she simply ignored it and turned her attention back to the stage. Fortunately, the ceremony was drawing to a close, and she wouldn’t have to linger there any longer.
On the other side, she spotted Logan with a handsome young man who was quite the opposite of him. The young man beside Logan was flirting with the girls behind him, displaying a boy-next-door vibe similar to Alexi’s. However, this young man was a bit more pompous compared to Alexi’s more restrained demeanor.
The young man noticed Hera’s gaze and gave her a wink and a charming smile. Hera was a little taken aback. ‘Does everyone have eyes in the back of their heads?’ she thought, quickly averting her gaze. Determined to avoid any more strange encounters, she kept her eyes fixed on the stage.
As soon as the ceremony ended, Hera quickly made her way to the exit, hoping to avoid Minerva and her group to prevent any potential drama. However, since she needed to wait for Logan, she hid behind a pillar near the event center signboard, peeking out occasionally to check for him.
A couple of minutes after she exited, Hera spotted Minerva’s group surrounded by other students coming out of the event center. They all looked approachable, smiling and chatting with the students around them. Alice and Minerva were both engaged in conversation with some female students, while Alexi stood apart, scanning the exit area. He responded to others with brief nods and monosyllabic answers, clearly preoccupied with his search.
After a while, the crowd began to disperse, and Hera saw Logan’s tall figure emerging from the event center. The young man with him ran to catch up with Alexi and his group, leaving Logan behind with a quick tap on the shoulder. Logan didn’t react much, keeping his head down as he continued on his way out.
Logan looked dejected as he walked out of the event center, his head hanging low. Hera sensed that something was wrong, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was. Stepping out from behind the signboard, she grabbed Logan’s arm and gently but firmly led him toward the parking lot.
But Logan was unmovable. “Senior, I don’t think I can come with you,” he said, his voice full of hesitation.
“Why is that?” Hera asked, tilting her head to the side. She could sense his fluctuating mood.
Logan stayed silent, pursing his lips as if struggling to turn his thoughts into words, only to be thwarted by his own uncertainty.
“Did something happen? Did anything spoil your mood?” Hera asked gently, like an older sister concerned for her younger brother.
“Logan!”
Hera was surprised and looked behind her, only to see the young man who had been with Logan earlier returning, his expression annoyed. Alexi and the others were also watching from a distance. Hera had thought they had already left, and now she was even more puzzled by the young man’s return.
