Chapter 258: Chapter 258 Contract Signing
“Here, why don’t you take a look and let us know if there’s anything you’d like to discuss? We’re flexible and want to ensure everyone’s satisfaction,” Betty said, placing the pre-prepared contract on the table. She always kept contracts ready for various artist levels, from the lowest to A-list, to expedite signings in situations like this one, ensuring no time was wasted.
It was also a strategic move to make use of the artist’s enthusiasm, ensuring they signed the contract while feeling that the offer presented was ideal, minimizing the opportunity for them to rethink and negotiate further.
It’s a shrewd approach, but they are ultimately representing the company’s interests. This tactic is particularly effective with newcomers who may not fully understand the industry norms. However, veterans are more likely to take their time, carefully consider the terms, and may propose adjustments or additions to the contract before agreeing to sign, ensuring it aligns closely with their needs and expectations.
“Um, Senior, could you please help me check?” Logan looked at Hera with puppy-dog eyes before continuing earnestly. “I’m new to all this and not sure what’s best for me. I trust your judgment the most. Could you please take a look and advise me?”
Now, all eyes turned to Hera again, who felt as though she had suddenly become Logan’s guardian. She didn’t refuse his plea and picked up the contract laid on the table, methodically reading through each clause.
She noticed that Betty had prepared an A-list contract for Logan, mirroring hers. As she read through each clause, Hera found herself raising her eyebrows in surprise. Everything outlined in the contract was top-notch, just a notch below hers but still superior to offers from other companies. It was clear from the contract how earnest they were about signing Logan.
Although Betty had a pre-prepared A-list contract, it was categorized into three tiers based on the compensation and treatment offered to A-list artists. This structure was nearly akin to a customized version, ensuring that any additional demands from the other party would still be accommodated within reasonable limits.
Now that Hera had reviewed the contract, she turned to Logan and began explaining each clause to ensure he understood everything. She asked if he had any special terms he wanted to add. Logan shook his head, clearly content with the benefits and earnings outlined. His happy smile left Hera shaking her head in resignation before giving Logan a nod of approval.
“The contract looks good and shows the company’s sincerity in signing you as an A-list artist under the same manager as me,” Hera explained, tapping on the spot where Logan needed to sign. “If you agree to all the terms written in the contract, you can sign here and officially become a part of this company,” she concluded in a professional tone.
The Director and Betty watched Logan intently, holding their breath until Logan successfully signed his name on the contract. After he finished signing, the Director took the contract and scrutinized it for a moment, ensuring Logan’s name and signature were clearly written. Satisfied, he instructed Betty to secure the contract safely after giving Logan a copy, as if he feared Logan might have a change of heart and try to retract his signature—though once signed, Logan couldn’t legally back out anyway.
People who discover treasure are often more prone to paranoia than others; the Director feared someone might try to steal his newfound treasure if he didn’t secure it properly.
“Little girl, I had no idea you could be as adept as a lawyer when it comes to explaining a contract, huh?” Once the Director relaxed, he struck up conversations with everyone, particularly focusing on Hera. He was growing fond of her for her discerning eyes and intelligence. Despite his decades of experience in the industry, he had failed to notice the rare gem standing before him, yet Hera had spotted it so easily.
“Director, I’ve only learned a few things in school, nothing compared to a true professional,” Hera replied humbly.
“Oh? What course are you taking? Performing Arts?” the Director asked with curiosity.
“I’m majoring in finance and recently with an additional major in business administration,” Hera explained with a composed smile.
“Oh? A beauty and brains indeed. Then why are you in the entertainment industry?” the Director asked as he sipped his tea, prompting even Logan to look at Hera with clear confusion and interest.
“I like acting, and my grandfather gave me some time to explore before I had to return home and help him with his responsibilities,” Hera answered honestly. She knew that with that simple answer, they wouldn’t realize she was the Avery heiress; at most, they might assume she was from a comfortably well-off family.
The director chuckled at Hera’s straightforward response, appreciating her lack of pretense. “Alright! I’m glad for your assistance; it’s alleviated my burden. And since you’ve won the bet—or even without that, considering Logan’s talent, he’s bound for the international stage. You’ve done me a great favor. In return, how about I offer you a few slots to appear in music videos with our top artists?” His offer was generous and sincere.
Hera was pleasantly surprised by the Director’s offer, and she sweetly smiled at him. “I’ll leave it in your hands, Director. Thank you for your generosity and for looking out for me.”
“And Director, if I may, I have a request to make,” Hera began.
“What is it, little girl? As long as it’s within my control, I’ll gladly help. And if it’s not, I’ll still do my best to assist,” the Director replied warmly.
“That’s great! Actually, I need…” Hera began, listing down what she needed from the Director. The conversation stretched on for an hour as they clarified details and ensured everyone was on the same page, ensuring she conveyed her thoughts thoroughly without missing a thing.
As one of the top companies in the country, UE acted swiftly. After signing the contract, they had already prepared everything Logan might need: an artist dormitory, a company car for transportation, new sets of clothes, and other promised items outlined in the contract.
And most importantly, they needed to change Logan’s image. He appeared nerdy and timid, so Betty and Hera took him to a well-known salon frequented by top artists and socialites in the city for a makeover.
“Ah, look who’s here!” A gratingly familiar voice reached Hera’s ears just as she and the others were led to their seats by the receptionist, waiting for Logan’s stylist to arrive.
The world truly is small, Hera thought, to encounter such people unexpectedly. It seemed enemies always found a way to cross paths, making Hera roll her eyes and ignore Minerva and Alice, who stood nearby. Thankfully, Alexi wasn’t with them this time, sparing her from another potential problem.
Seeing this, Betty could tell that Hera wasn’t on good terms with a woman who was eyeing her with hostility. The second woman, though, appeared gentle and kind, attempting to prevent Minerva from causing a scene.
When Hera noticed Betty’s hesitation to leave, she reassured her, “Don’t worry about me and Logan. I’ll take care of him. He’s not just my junior at school but also in the company now. You can take your time and attend to what you need to do. We’ll be fine here.” Hera practically ushered Betty out, knowing that as Logan’s manager especially now that Logan don’t have an assistant yet, Betty had other responsibilities, including finalizing his accommodation and transportation, which were already prepared but still needed registration in his name.
