Chapter 262: Chapter 262 Logan’s Transformation 4
Logan didn’t utter a word and simply followed Hera, his glasses safely stowed in her bag.
When they descended with the newly transformed Logan, Hera and Sandra flanked him on either side. Lucas, Minerva, and Alice were still waiting downstairs as they arrived.
Hera commended them for their persistence and patience in waiting downstairs for a couple of hours just to see what she was up to. They might be hoping to witness some drama unfold or perhaps they were waiting for Sandra to make a connection with her. After all, Sandra and her mentor have connections on the international stage, which could significantly boost either of their careers.
So even the usually arrogant Minerva stayed quiet, which was a surprising change.
When they saw Logan coming down, looking effortlessly handsome in contrast to Lucas’s flashy charm, and with a hint of youthful cheekiness, they all knew Logan was leagues above Lucas in terms of temperament and looks. If only he weren’t as timid as a mouse, he would truly be exceptional.
But Hera found a solution to this. She told Logan that if he was uncomfortable speaking or with the situation, he could simply choose not to speak, pretend he didn’t see anything, and move forward. At first, Logan felt awkward and guilty doing so, but when he realized how effective it was, he started doing it more and more.
Soon, he evolved into the cool, silent prince charming of the entertainment industry, rivaling Xavier’s fame—but that is a story for the future.
Before Minerva and her cronies could say anything, Hera led Logan out without looking back. Sandra followed, heading straight to the parking garage where her car was, ignoring Minerva entirely. This left Minerva and the others frustrated, having wasted their time waiting without gaining anything.
However, Minerva, as always, refuses to let go without causing trouble for Hera, who was supposed to be humiliated by now due to her rumored links with multiple men. Instead, Hera is out and about, looking fine and unaffected, which greatly angers Minerva.
“Hera! A promiscuous woman indeed! Are you not satisfied with all your sugar daddies surrounding you? And now you’ve even brought a little gigolo with you?! Hmph, you sure are insatiable!” Minerva shouted as soon as she saw Hera outside the salon. There were plenty of people coming and going, many of whom witnessed and heard Minerva’s outburst. Some even stopped to listen, finding entertainment in the gossip. For others, it was a way to vent their own dissatisfaction with their lives, using the scandal as an outlet for their frustrations.
And what better outlet to make themselves feel better than mocking someone who seemingly has an even messier life than they do?
“Oh my! She must be having a good time with different men each night.”
“With her looks, she could easily attract many sugar daddies. Look at the man with her; he really looks like a gigolo. Well-fed and well-cared-for,” remarked an old lady standing nearby, pointing at Logan.
“Right! Going out with a gigolo in broad daylight. She must be using her old sugar daddies’ money to keep a younger one around.”
“People like this are really dragging our society down and degrading women with their actions. Women like her should be punished!”
“She still looks so young herself. Maybe she’s just an escort?” someone remarked with clear disdain in their tone.
Most of the bystanders were creating their own stories in their heads as they continued to murmur. What they hated most were homewreckers and lascivious women, always fearing that their own husbands or boyfriends might fall for such women. They watched their men like hawks or a thief would steal their men.
When Minerva saw how many people began to throw accusatory glances and words at Hera, she felt smug.
Logan, on the other hand, was taken aback. His dainty index finger still pointed at himself absentmindedly. He was shocked to his core at being called a gigolo because, to his understanding, a gigolo required good looks to entice women of any age.
But as someone who believed himself to be hideous, with monster-like eyes, he was shocked to be called a gigolo and a kept man while out in public without his glasses, and with his face fully exposed and his long bangs no longer hiding his features.
What did that imply? Despite his timidity, he wasn’t stupid, and he could at least recognize that others saw him as handsome. ‘Handsome!!! Me? Handsome?’ These thoughts kept ringing inside his head.
He didn’t know whether to feel happy or lost and angry for believing himself to be ugly all his life. He glanced at the person he used to call his best friend, who never helped him when he was bullied or reassured him about his appearance. Instead, the friend looked at him as if he truly was ugly, and he felt like the only one who could be friends with him despite being hated by everyone.
Hera, on the other hand, felt amused hearing them say she had old sugar daddies. Well, they were certainly a few years older than her, and if sugar daddies were always as handsome as them, there would be a long line of women fighting her to be their sugar baby. Just thinking of that made it hard for her to control her trembling shoulders; she really wanted to burst out laughing, though the situation was a bit serious.
Now that she had her amusement, she wanted to leave so Sandra wouldn’t have to wait long in front of the mall. But as she moved to pull Logan towards the car, she noticed him lost in thought, looking gloomy—as if he had been enlightened about something he had blindly believed since he was young and now looked devastated to have that belief shattered.
Hera could empathize with him. While she didn’t fully understand what he had been through, she could grasp some of it from what she had seen. She gently tapped Logan’s shoulder to offer comfort and said teasingly, “Now that you’re being called a gigolo, do you finally believe me that you’re good-looking?” Her attempt was to lighten his mood.
Logan lifted his eyes slightly from the ground and smiled wryly. “I never thought I’d be seen as a gigolo just standing beside you.”
“See? You had to be called a gigolo to finally believe you’re good-looking. And you know what?” Hera paused, pointing at his eyes. “Your best feature is your eyes. They’re like two stars shining brightly in your eye sockets.” She giggled softly. “You don’t have to rush. Take your time to process everything.” Her expression then turned serious as she glanced over at Minerva and her entourage.
Hera stared at Minerva first, causing Minerva to feel uneasy. However, being a secondary female lead gave Minerva a blind courage that emboldened her to confront anything or anyone she disagreed with. Now, with bystanders on her side, she felt even more empowered.
“What are you staring at? Brave enough to act, but scared of gossip?” Minerva sneered. Alice stood beside Minerva, gently pulling on her sleeve to calm her down and ease her visible agitation.
