Chapter 292: Chapter 292 Her Knights in Shinning Armor Arrived
No one expected Alexi to turn violent; everyone believed he was mild-tempered. Though they were already surprised by his deceitful nature, his sudden violence caught them off guard. Alexi’s eyes gleamed red, a twisted smile playing on his lips.
It was evident he couldn’t accept what Hera had said and wasn’t ready to release her. This only strengthened Hera’s resolve further. She prepared to shift her body’s balance to lock his arm and head in a grip, anticipating help from others. Before she could act, a sudden gust of wind swept by. The next thing she knew, both she and Alexi were falling to the ground. Alexi almost dropped to his knees, about to react when someone kicked the back of his knee.
In a swift motion, the hand Alexi had used to trap Hera against his shoulder was grabbed from behind, and someone swiftly pulled Hera by the waist. Alexi let out a loud groan as his knees scraped against the hard ground beneath his khaki pants.
“Are you alright?” Hera was still reeling from the shocking turn of events when a familiar voice echoed above her. Instantly reassured, all the emotions she had been suppressing came rushing forth as she looked into the familiar deep ocean-blue eyes. All her pent-up grievances washed over her, and tears began to flow. “I’m sorry you had to deal with such a jerk,” Leo said softly, pulling Hera closer into his embrace and gently patting her head to comfort her.
“Sweetheart! I-I’m here too!” Dave’s voice came from behind, clearly panting from running to reach her. He hadn’t even parked his car properly, so anxious was he that Alexi might turn violent and harm Hera. He had heard from Zhane about Alexi’s past behavior at Hera’s class reunion and feared it could happen again.
Upon hearing Dave’s voice, Hera looked around, still sobbing, her vision slightly impaired. Dave’s burgundy hair stood out like a sore thumb, making him easily visible as he approached her to check for any injuries.
Alexi was now subdued on the ground, his left hand pinned behind his back by Rafael. Rafael secured him with a knee on his back and a tight grip on his arm, ensuring he couldn’t retaliate. Luke stood nearby, glaring down at Alexi with palpable hostility and menace, his once gentle demeanor replaced by a strong aura of aggression directed squarely at Alexi. Everyone present could feel the intensity, and they couldn’t even look up to meet Luke’s eyes in fear.
Zhane was nearby, carrying his small medical kit that he always kept in his car. He pushed Dave aside to get a clear view of Hera and assess if she was injured. Glancing at Leo, he considered saying something but decided against it, seeing how shaken Hera was. Instead, he let Leo comfort and calm her, acknowledging that Leo was doing a commendable job. While Leo tended to Hera, Zhane began inspecting her for any signs of bruises or injuries.
Dave pursed his lips in annoyance after being pushed aside. “Why are you pushing me aside? Isn’t this clear discrimination?!” he complained, pouting, hoping Hera would hear him and intervene. But then he realized it wasn’t the time to argue over Hera’s attention, especially when she was dealing with her lunatic of an ex.
The five men were so distraught about Hera’s well-being that they completely forgot she was being streamed live. They didn’t even notice the collective gasp from the bystanders when they rushed over.
The entire venue fell silent as everyone watched, eyes wide and jaws dropped. Rather than seeing it as mere gossip between two rising stars, it felt like a scene from a romance movie unfolding on campus, especially with the arrival of each strikingly good-looking man. However, they couldn’t help but notice Dave, who stood out not as an actor but as the current Young Minister of their country.
Their demeanor and presence hinted that they weren’t actors but possibly individuals of influence, much like Dave. The sight of all of them gathered around one woman added fuel to the gossip mill, surpassing the intrigue of the earlier events.
Their admiration for their good looks and commanding presence quickly turned to horror as their attention shifted to the now-wailing Alexi. They witnessed Luke stepping on Alexi’s right hand, Alexi used this hand to aid him in pushing against the ground to prevent Rafael from crushing him further. However, Luke’s unexpected force caused Alexi to cry out in pain, while Rafael increased pressure on his knee, intensifying Alexi’s agony.
But no one dared to intervene. Luke’s palpable aura of menace prevented anyone from even considering it—they feared they might become his next target if they so much as twitched. Helplessly, they could only watch as Alexi cried out on the ground, his eyes still twisted with defiance as he met Luke’s deadly glare.
‘That’s a supporting male lead for you, there’s still a fight left in him’ Hera mused to herself, now calmed in Leo’s embrace and observing the scene with interest. She hadn’t expected things to unfold like this, but considering her goal was to teach Alexi a lesson and see him brought down by his own actions, she couldn’t complain about how things were turning out.
To think that Alexi wouldn’t easily succumb to the male lead’s aura—perhaps that’s what defines him as a supporting male lead. Maybe he even possesses a ‘halo’ of his own, enabling him to hold his ground and not be easily overshadowed by the male leads.
Luke felt Hera’s gaze on his back and turned around to see her seemingly enjoying herself. His anger subsided somewhat, and his expression softened completely, returning to his gentle smile as he nodded at her. More accurately, he nodded at Leo, who then gently guided Hera’s face back to his chest, shielding her from whatever Luke was about to do.
Hera struggled against Leo’s arm, not wanting to be coddled like a child. As she lifted her head again and Leo attempted to restrain her, she witnessed Luke preparing to kick Alexi’s head like a soccer ball. Fear surged through her, feeling her eyes widen in horror at the thought of Alexi being seriously hurt or killed.
“STOP!!! LUKE, DON’T!” Hera frantically shouted, struggling to free herself from Leo’s grasp. Her attempt to halt Luke only fueled the anger of the male leads and Leo. Consumed by their rage, they seemed oblivious to reason, and Hera feared they might cross a dangerous line that could implicate them all.
“SEE THAT, ASSHOLE?! HERA STILL LOVES AND CHOOSES ME. YOU CAN ONLY ADMIRE HER FROM AFAR, SO FUCK OFF!!!” Alexi shouted hysterically, a smug, condescending smile on his lips as he defiantly stared at Luke. Despite Luke visibly struggling to control his inner rage, his forehead veins bulging and eyebrows twitching, the scariest aspect was his murderous gaze fixed on Alexi.
Hera’s words only intensified Luke’s anger. He and the other male leads, including Leo, couldn’t comprehend why Hera hesitated to let harm befall Alexi after everything. Even Zhane paused midair as he tended to the bruise on Hera’s wrist, inflicted by Alexi’s forceful grasp.
Noticing their reaction, Hera clarified, “If you hurt him, he might use it against us. I don’t want you guys to be dragged into this and be manipulated by potential blackmail.”
