Chapter 300: Chapter 300 What Hera Can and Can’t Do
Logan let out a nervous chuckle and began fidgeting with his fingers. “Actually, Senior, you misunderstood. The Music Director has set a debut date for me, and I’ve been preparing non-stop since early this morning up until just a few minutes ago. Every day that would pass makes me more anxious just thinking about it, unsure if I can meet the expectations and live up to the support I’ve been given.”
Logan’s body was tense and rigid as he spoke, reflecting his nervousness and uncertainty. Hera, sensing his struggle, stepped closer and patted his shoulder reassuringly. “I know it’s tough right now, but hang in there. One day, you’ll look back and laugh at how wimpy you were.” She offered a warm chuckle with a hint of teasing remark as she began to walk away. Though Logan’s expression was hidden from her view, Hera was content knowing that he was on the path to his debut.
This meant that more people would soon hear Logan’s remarkable singing voice and even Hera was excited for it. Given her packed schedule for the day, Daisy had arranged for food to be delivered, and they ate together in the dance studio during a 15-minute break whenever Hera needed a rest from her demanding practice. Understanding how hard Hera worked, Daisy took the liberty to also go ahead to the parking lot to prepare a car to ensure Hera could get home comfortably after a long day.
Leaving Logan waiting in the lobby for his assistant, Hera focused on ensuring she could get home and rest. Although she suspected there might be more to his worries than what he had shared, she respected his choice not to elaborate and couldn’t force him to open up. Unsure if his explanation was entirely truthful, Hera decided to step back and wait for further developments.
Hera realized that if she constantly interfered in Logan’s affairs, he might become too dependent on her, which could hinder his growth, especially since she couldn’t be there for him all the time. She believed it was important for him to handle his current challenges on his own, stepping in only when absolutely necessary.
Besides, Logan needed to learn how to leverage his resources and talents to his advantage if he truly wanted to succeed. Hera chuckled to herself, recalling how she was in a similar position two weeks ago when she returned to inherit the Consortium from her grandfather. This experience made her feel a deeper connection to Logan, as she saw a reflection of herself in his struggles.
What Hera could offer Logan was her unwavering support, care, and confidence in him, especially while he struggled to find his own. She watched Logan’s desolate figure through the lobby’s clear glass as her car drove away, his silhouette shrinking into the distance. It felt as though her little brother was being unfairly treated, and she felt a pang of frustration knowing she couldn’t directly help him. With a heavy sigh, Hera gazed out the window at the brightly lit cityscape, where even at this late hour, the buildings were alive with people working late into the night.
Hera was exhausted but satisfied. Her stamina, which she took great pride in, held up even through the grueling practices with her tutors. Despite the intense sessions, she didn’t falter, and it was gratifying to see her tutors nod in approval. She had made a positive impression on them, and it seemed they appreciated her approach as much as she valued theirs in tackling the practice.
Her dance instructor praised her for being easy to train and quick to learn but emphasized that she needed to work on her flexibility, leaving her with a set of exercises to do daily. Meanwhile, her singing instructor acknowledged her sweet, well-quality voice but noted that Hera had been playing it safe, not pushing her limits. To challenge her, the instructor encouraged Hera to reach higher notes, discovering that she could indeed hit those notes. However, Hera’s lack of practice had left her almost tone-deaf, nearly undermining her vocal talent. As a result, her instructor became even more stringent with her training.
Fortunately, her drama tutor was thrilled with Hera’s ability to convey emotions and seamlessly embody her characters. The tutor emphasized that as long as Hera understood the characters’ backgrounds and related to them on a personal level, she could portray them convincingly. Hera’s natural talent and dedication made her tutor extremely pleased and eager to guide her. They worked together to delve deeper into each character’s background, helping Hera refine her portrayal step by step for a richer, more nuanced performance.
All of the instructors’ feedback and video recordings of Hera’s practice were sent to Betty, who was thrilled and proud to have another rising star in her hands. However, upon reviewing the comments from Hera’s dance and vocal instructors, Betty couldn’t help but reflect, “No wonder Hera mentioned that singing and dancing weren’t her strongest suits—acting was where she truly shined. But she’s not entirely hopeless in these areas. If I can help her improve, Hera’s prospects will significantly rise, making her a versatile artist highly sought after in the industry.”
Just thinking about the possibilities made Betty excited. She was starting to see Hera as the female version of Xavier and couldn’t wait to watch her grow. The vision of Hera’s future was already forming in her mind.
When Hera arrived at Green Dragon Manor, she pushed all thoughts and worries from her mind and indulged in a long, hot bath. She had prepared heating stones and rose petal bath bombs, treating herself to this relaxing escape after a long and stressful day, especially with the challenges posed by Alexi. It was both a well-deserved reward and a soothing retreat.
Hera usually enjoyed her hot baths in silence with her eyes closed, but tonight was different. With her vocal practices still fresh in her mind, she began to hum softly. Gradually, she transitioned into vocal exercises and eventually started singing a song that Logan performed when he signed his contract with UE.
Hera noticed that her voice had changed subtly, likely due to her conscious effort to alter her breathing technique and infuse more power into her singing. As she confidently sang the song, her voice took on an ethereal quality, echoing softly off the tiled walls. It was soothing and sweet, like honey to the ear. Hera wasn’t narcissistic, but even she had to admit that she sounded impressive. This was her true potential and the areas where she still needed growth.
Previously indifferent to singing and dancing, Hera’s newfound appreciation for her vocal progress sparked a change of heart. Hearing the improvement in her voice, she became determined to refine her skills further. She now hoped to do Logan’s song justice whenever she sang that song since it already become her favorite, aspiring to perform it with the respect it deserved rather than merely singing it.
Before, Hera hadn’t realized how deeply singing could affect one’s emotions—lifting or even calming them. Given her love for playing the piano and other instruments, she already had an appreciation for music, but now she saw singing as a new way to channel her emotions and relieve stress. With proper guidance, she felt she could deliver a compelling performance at her grandfather’s birthday, which now served as a fresh source of motivation. She was certain her grandfather would be thrilled.
