Chapter 305: Chapter 305 Like A Pitiful Child
After more convincing from the two girls, Alice finally relented, allowing them to proceed with their plan but setting a condition: they were not to harm Hera or her reputation in the process. The two girls pretended to agree but set aside Alice’s condition as soon as they had her approval. Wasting no time, they went straight to work, starting gossip about Hera on the Campus Forum.
They didn’t stop there. They also took a candid, low-quality photo of Hera, deliberately obstructing her features so no one could clearly see her face, leading others to assume that was all there was to her.
While they used a high-quality camera to capture Alice’s photo, they staged her as if she were simply walking around campus. Her hair was gently blown by the wind, with flower petals seemingly falling from who knows where making it look like spring had just arrived.
They worked so quickly that they managed to start the first competition in the school forum even before the second class of the day began.
[Shocking!!! A Beautiful Freshman Said to Be More Beautiful Than the Current Campus Bell!!! But the Current Bell Is…]
They pasted both pictures in the article and reopened the campus bell voting. The problem was that only a few sophomores, juniors, and seniors—who truly knew what Hera looked like—were active in the school forum and voting for her as her fans. Most of the students who were too busy to worry about the campus gossip were the ones who knew her, while the ones who were free to vote were predominantly freshmen.
Alice had been walking around campus with other freshmen since school started the other day. She had already crafted the image she wanted among the students, and even some seniors who had seen her found her very beautiful.
However, Alice never walked with Hera side by side. Her two cronies were too busy slandering Hera in the forum, spreading rumors about her dating five men simultaneously and selling herself for tuition fees and good opportunities in the entertainment industry. They claimed Hera was banned from working any normal job and ended up doing this kind of favors instead to climb up the ladder.
They mixed a little truth with all the lies they wove together to slander Hera and ruin her reputation on campus. Their goal was to make everyone drop her as a role model, making it easier for people to vote for Alice instead. They portrayed Alice as an angel, embodying kindness, gentleness, and compassion in contrast to the tarnished image they created for Hera.
So, when Hera finished her second class, she was too preoccupied with arranging her class materials and notes to realize she was already being slandered. Unbeknownst to her, everyone was now looking at her as nothing but a whore trying to ruin someone else’s reputation on the internet.
To make matters worse, Hera decided to increase her concentration by putting on a headset, blocking out the noise in the corridor while she read her books and munched on a sandwich prepared by Hannah. Unbeknownst to her, she was the subject of open mockery and degradation in the hallways, fueled by the trending forum article. Even the seniors who had known her for two years couldn’t defend her, as they were unjustly accused of receiving sexual favors from her and were thus silenced.
The attacks quickly turned malevolent, leaving Hera without any defenders. In just one morning, her reputation had already been shattered. When Logan discovered what was happening, he rushed around the campus searching for Hera. However, he was frequently interrupted by girls eager to get his number or simply to meet him.
For the first time, the usually timid Logan found himself snapping at people who pestered him while he frantically searched for Hera. His concern that she might be bullied or deeply hurt by the slander drove him to push back against the interruptions.
He didn’t even realize that he had snarled angrily at the girls delaying him, sending them away in tears. Unmoved by their distress, his anxiety only intensified as he imagined Hera crying in the same way, surrounded by people pointing fingers and mocking her.
The situation was deeply unsettling for him, reopening old wounds from his childhood when he was bullied for being different. He didn’t want Hera to endure such a nightmare. He admired her confidence and sunny personality, seeing her as his sun and moon, a beacon of light and warmth in his life.
She was the person who shone brighter than anyone else in the sky, and during dark times, she was also the light guiding lost souls like him, ensuring they wouldn’t be swallowed by the abyss and giving them a chance to improve and live better.
As he frantically searched the vast campus, tears welled up in his eyes, turning them red with worry. The more he failed to find Hera, the darker his thoughts grew, plagued by grim possibilities he could barely stand. The idea of her being at the center of such cruelty was unbearable to him. He’d endure the bullying himself without complaint, but seeing Hera subjected to it ignited a deep, unfamiliar hatred within him, a feeling he had never known before.
He loathed those who sought to hurt Hera, a woman who had done nothing wrong and was not only beautiful but also genuinely kind and compassionate. She had gone out of her way to help a struggling boy like him, giving him a chance to stand on his own without asking for anything in return. Yet, despite her kindness, she was being maligned and treated with contempt. It enraged him to see someone so selfless and deserving of respect being degraded and disrespected.
Unable to find Hera on his own, he called his assistant for help. He instructed them to reach out to Hera’s assistant and their manager, Betty, to inform them of the situation while he continued his search across the campus. He wanted to cover all bases to ensure her safety. Aware of the online attacks targeting Hera, he feared that some of her anti-fans might try to harm her.
‘Is it her anti-fans causing this trouble, or could it be Alexi’s overzealous supporters targeting her?’ Logan wondered, his shirt soaked with sweat as he continued his frantic search around the campus.
Logan chanted silent prayers for Hera’s safety as he continued his desperate search around the campus. He was on the verge of tears, feeling like a lost puppy searching for its owner in a crowded city. Fortunately, just as he was about to lose hope, he spotted Hera sitting under a tree, deeply engrossed in a book about advanced business knowledge.
Hera, wearing headphones, sat calmly under the tree, absorbed in her book, oblivious to the students around her who were loudly gossiping and trying to provoke her. Despite their blatant attempts to get under her skin, Hera remained unaffected and indifferent. When Logan saw her handling the situation with such grace, he couldn’t hold back his tears.
Logan walked straight up to Hera, and as soon as he was in front of her, he collapsed onto his knees, sobbing uncontrollably like a child.
