Chapter 329: Chapter 329 Someone’s Crying
“Please don’t hate me, Hera,” Rafael said in a hoarse voice, as if stifling a sob. His eyes were reddened, and a lone tear fell, making him look even more pitiful. Hera was at a loss for words, seeing Rafael so genuinely distressed and afraid. It felt like he could break down any minute, and everyone could see it.
Rafael felt like slapping himself, truly terrified of being rejected by Hera, especially after making things worse for himself. ‘FUCK!! I’m so fucking stupid!!!’ he thought, his anxiety intensifying with each passing moment.
[NorthernDuke: I feel like killing someone right now (ง°̀Д°́)ง🔪…]
[Dave_Carson: This fucking asshole is an expert, I see. He must have learned a thing or two in the entertainment industry despite being single as long as me!!! I wanna cut something (⌐■_■)✂️]
[FatherOfCaduceus: This is the first time I have a strong urge to curse… I’ve been holding back, trying to be a gentleman, only to give my rivals a chance to take advantage of the situation. I feel so foolish! (;´Д`)]
[GoldenLight: I feel like the evil in me is waking up. Oh God, please help me and protect my friend, or else I might kill him right now. ψ(` Д´)ψ]
[SilverEmperor: Is it just me, or are your fists itching too? I’m glad I’m overseas, or I’d be pummeling someone right now. I’m never the violent type, but it feels like violence is emerging from all corners, and I’m starting to see red. ୧(๑•̀ᗝ•́)૭]
[NorthernDuke: (`Д´)ノ彡☆彡━(`Д´)━☆]
[Dave_Carson: (`ε´)ノ彡┻━┻]
[Dave_Carson: Let me guess, he’s going to cry so Hera won’t reject him right now.]
[FatherOfCaduceus: He wouldn’t stoop so low, right? (・_・;) ( ̄~ ̄;)]
[GoldenLight: That guy, crying? I’ve never seen him cry. He’s too arrogant and egotistical to shed a tear. He might make someone else cry, but not himself. ┐(´д`)┌]
[Dave_Carson: But I have a strong feeling. (๑•̆ ૩•̆ )]
[SilverEmperor: I can’t even imagine him crying. It’s just not in his bones. He was born to be tough and scary, like a big bad wolf.]
[NorthernDuke: Argh! My blood pressure! (ÒДÓױ)]
While the other five were panicking and expressing their dissatisfaction online, they struggled to fully convey their emotions. They relied on emoticons to communicate their feelings, but in reality, their expressions remained the same even as their hearts pounded with anger. Leo, on the other hand, was truly furious. He felt his blood pressure rising and was starting to see red.
He wanted to rush to the university right now, shove Rafael to the ground, and teach him a lesson—not just for touching his wife, but for doing so in front of a live stream with over a million viewers. The intensity of his feelings was making him feel like he was about to explode.
But just like everyone else, he was stuck in his office, unable to leave due to an important meeting. The worst part was that he was in this predicament because the other five kept sending him trouble after trouble. Despite pulling all-nighters to handle urgent matters, new issues kept piling up.
This sense of helplessness only fueled his anger and frustration. Seeing Rafael kiss his wife was bad enough, but not being able to see Hera’s expression made it worse. ‘What if she likes his kiss more than mine? I’m pretty inexperienced and just relying on instinct. Will she start comparing me to him? Will she agree to be with him?’ Leo was consumed by fear and on the verge of a panic attack.
He didn’t even feel this way when Hera chose to be with Alexi, even when he saw pictures of them holding hands. This was different. He had only kissed her once after years of patiently waiting for his chance, and yet this bastard had jumped at the first opportunity.
While Leo was seething with anger from afar, Rafael was panicking with fear, terrified of rejection. He had made one mistake after another, and Hera’s silence made his heart feel like it was lodged in his throat. He couldn’t even voice his concerns, knowing that he had already worsened his situation.
He was terrified that Hera might see him as forceful and manipulative, disregarding her feelings. In reality, he hadn’t intended any of it; his actions had been driven by impulsive instincts, and he never imagined he’d come across as so weak and uncertain in front of her. In short, a wussy.
In reality, Hera was so taken aback by the sudden kiss that her mind went blank. She was overwhelmed, unable to process what was happening because it wasn’t anything she had anticipated. ‘Oh hell! None of them followed the script I imagined! They’re all so unpredictable that it feels like if I let my guard down, I’ll be devoured by any one of them.’ With that thought, Hera managed to pull herself together and regain her composure.
Even after regaining her composure, Hera found herself at a loss for words. Before she could make sense of the situation, she heard a soft whimper. Looking up, she saw Rafael sobbing silently, his lips pressed tight as tears streamed down his flushed cheeks. His long eyelashes were damp, and he was struggling to hold back his sobs. The tears that blurred his vision made it clear that he couldn’t see her expression at that moment.
Even the viewers gasped in surprise at the sight of him crying. Witnessing such a tough man break down like this was both astonishing and deeply moving. Hera’s heart softened instantly, and she found herself flustered. Without thinking, she reached out on tiptoe to wipe his tears, her head buzzing with confusion. ‘Did I make him cry? How did this even happen?’ Despite not fully understanding how things had escalated, Hera felt an overwhelming sense of guilt seeing Rafael in such distress.
“Please don’t hate me,” Rafael croaked softly, his voice almost pleading, as he gently grasped Hera’s hand, the one she used to wipe away his tears. This was the first time in his life he felt such profound helplessness and fear. His family and everyone around him had always given him what he wanted, showering him with love, care, and protection. Even outsiders had revered him for his intelligence, which had emerged early in his childhood. The feeling of vulnerability now was unlike anything he had ever experienced.
Rafael was used to making others cry, but he never thought he would find himself in the same position, especially not because of a woman. Hera’s silence was pushing him to his limits, and despite his fervent prayers to any deity he could think of, his anxiety was overwhelming. Before he realized it, warm tears were cascading down his cheeks. Seeing Hera wipe his tears, looking guilty, only made his emotions spill over further. Desperately, he reached out to her, his plea evident in his tear-streaked face.
“I-I don’t hate you,” Hera stammered, her voice trembling as she tried to calm him down. The situation was spiraling beyond her control, and despite her efforts to think clearly, she couldn’t recall Rafael ever crying in the original story. He had always been the tough, domineering figure, even with Alice, exuding arrogance and strength. Yet now, he was breaking character, crying like a helpless child. Hera’s confusion and fluster only deepened as she struggled to reconcile this unexpected display of vulnerability with the Rafael she knew.
