Chapter 347: Chapter 347 Who Would Send Her Back?
Although Hera didn’t notice the expensive fishes, Luke and Rafael were awestruck. Seeing such understated luxury made them question their previous experiences; they realized that their understanding of what the world has to offer was incomplete compared to this refined level of opulence.
They were stunned to see such a valuable collection of rare fish swimming freely in the lake. Each fish was worth tens of thousands, yet Hera appeared completely unaware of their worth as she happily fed them. Luke and Rafael sweated a bit, worried that Hera might overfeed the fish and inadvertently incur a hefty damage compensation.
While they were ready to face the consequences if needed, Luke and Rafael worried that breaking the news about overfeeding the collector’s fish might shock Hera and ruin her mood. Reluctant to dampen her spirits, they chose to set their concerns aside and help her continue feeding the fish. They provided her with more fish food and Rafael even guided her on where to toss the feed so that all the fish would have a chance to eat.
Hera cheerfully scattered the fish food as Rafael directed her, while Luke refilled the supply. They looked like they were having a blast, and onlookers dining at the Golden Dragon Pavilion, particularly those on the higher floors were captivated by the scene. From their windows, they saw the joy unfolding and began to flood the pavilion’s management with calls, eager to learn if the scenic lake cruise was now available to the public.
To manage the situation, they crafted an explanation to ensure that Hera’s true identity as the heiress of the Avery Consortium remained concealed. This way, no one would be able to claim the same privileges she enjoyed at the Golden Dragon Pavilion. Fortunately, Gerald had anticipated this and left detailed instructions to handle such scenarios. As a result, others could only watch with envy, particularly the daughters of wealthy families who longed to experience such a magical setting and ride on such an extravagant boat to satisfy their own vanity.
As Hera, Luke, and Rafael enjoyed their time on the lake, they lost track of how late it had become. It wasn’t until Gerald called Hera that they realized the time. “Young Miss, you might be late for your afternoon class,” Gerald’s voice came through, sounding both resigned and indulgent. His chuckle, audible even to Luke and Rafael, made them glance curiously at Hera, their attention sharply focused on her.
Hera felt like she was under the intense gaze of predators, causing a bead of sweat to form on her back. She let out a wry chuckle, thanked Gerald, and instructed the boatman to return to the Pavilion immediately.
To Luke and Rafael, it sounded like Hera and Gerald shared a bond that went beyond professional, with Gerald’s chuckle coming across as intimate and flirtatious. Though they couldn’t make out the exact words, the tone of Gerald’s voice ignited a fierce jealousy and possessiveness in both men. By the time the boat docked back at Pavilion 1, their feelings were unmistakably charged.
As Luke and Rafael each took one of Hera’s hands to help her off the boat, their wary glances at Gerald conveyed a barely concealed hostility. Gerald could feel the tension, sensing that Luke and Rafael would react violently if he came any closer to Hera. Instinctively, he took a step back, his smile becoming strained as his body’s defensive mechanisms kicked in.
Although he acted nonchalant, he was already trembling inside and was starting to feel fear, and he didn’t want to push the wrong button of his Young Miss’ future husbands because he knew he’d suffer terribly.
As smart as Gerald was, he kept a certain distance from Hera, Luke and Rafael were pleased, they were like two territorial men who were acting like alpha wolves right now and were ready to pounce on his throat, if he as much as took a sniff of their female.
Gerald escorted Hera, Luke, and Rafael to the entrance of the Golden Dragon Pavilion, demonstrating his respect. However, as soon as they stepped outside, Rafael and Luke exchanged intense glares, silently challenging each other in a standoff. Their unspoken communication was clear: neither was willing to back down.
They stood motionless for a moment, prompting Gerald to intervene and bite the bullet. “Mr. Briley and Mr. Greyson,” he said, trying to remain casual but with a slight quiver in his voice, “if you don’t move along soon, Miss Ainsley will be late for her afternoon class and might end up with a tardiness mark.” He felt a palpable tension, as if any moment now, the two men might pounce on him.
Gerald began to regret, even if just a little, supporting these two suitors for his Young Miss. He worried about whether Hera would be able to handle their intense nature and the darker sides of their personalities that sometimes surfaced, intimidating those around them.
“Then I’ll see Hera off. You head back to the company,” Luke said, his tone warm and friendly but with a commanding undertone. His gaze, however, was locked onto Rafael’s with a fierce intensity, creating a charged atmosphere that made Hera feel like she was caught in the middle of a brewing storm.
Hera cleared her throat to break the tension between the two men, and they immediately turned to her with affectionate smiles. “What can I do for my queen?” Rafael asked, his voice soft and tender. The shift in his demeanor sent a shiver down Hera’s spine, and she was caught off guard by the sudden contrast in his attitude, she wasn’t used to it.
Although there was still a hint of arrogance and dominance in his voice, it was tempered compared to before. Being called “queen” was a new and surprising experience for Hera, especially coming from Rafael. The endearing nickname felt unexpected, as such affectionate terms usually suited Dave’s personality rather than Rafael’s.
“Hera, please allow me to drive you back,” Luke said with a soothing tone, his voice warm yet firm. He shot a pointed glare at Rafael. “After all, Rafael drove you here, so it’s only fair that he lets me drive you back to the university.” Luke’s lips curved into a subtle, almost wicked smile as his eyes met Hera’s, his gaze both gentle and intense.
Hera was captivated by the hidden allure Luke exuded when his darker side emerged. There was something undeniably seductive about him—his voice took on a more dangerous tone, and his face bore a challenging smirk that gave him a tantalizingly bad-boy edge.
This “bad boy” edge Luke exhibited was different from Rafael’s. While Rafael also had that dangerous allure, Luke’s version had its own unique charm. Their distinct types of allure both exuded a captivating, sexy quality, each in its own way.
“Alright,” Hera replied, causing Luke to break into a genuine, warm smile. Rafael, looking like a disappointed puppy, had no choice but to step back. He couldn’t bear to suffocate Hera with his presence, so he allowed Luke to guide Hera to his car, parked at the entrance. Luke took the keys from the valet and drove off, while Rafael followed closely behind. He slid into the driver’s seat of his own car, planning to trail Luke’s vehicle like a loyal convoy.
