Chapter 359: Chapter 359 How It Feels Like To Be Fucking Rich! 2
On the coffee table lay a selection of Forbes magazines alongside a fragrance stick reminiscent of one she had seen in Rafael’s office. However, instead of the sandalwood scent, this stick emitted a delicate jasmine fragrance that was both mild and refreshing. This added a touch of sophistication to the already beautiful room. The serene atmosphere made Hera feel as if she could easily spend hours in this calming space, perhaps reading a book and savoring the tranquility.
Bry, his father, and Gael sat silently on the leather sofa, their eyes scanning the room with a mix of awe and curiosity. While Gael had visited the racecourse before, this was his first time experiencing this exclusive private lounge. Although he had seen the luxurious amenities of other lounges reserved for different membership tiers, this particular room stood out with its exceptional opulence.
This lounge was on an entirely different scale that Gael could barely fathom. The sight of multi-million-dollar vases displayed like mere decor on the shelves was overwhelming. If the value of everything in the room were combined, it would amount to billions, and just contemplating that figure was intimidating. Fearing the possibility of accidentally damaging something he couldn’t afford to replace, Gael remained still, wary of moving around and potentially causing any mishaps.
Everything felt so surreal that Gael didn’t realize he was gaping around the room with his mouth agape and drool escaping. Bry and his father were handling it better; while they admired the room, their lack of knowledge about the significance of each decor allowed them to appreciate it without the added pressure. As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss.
After a while, the manager arrived, pushing a cart laden with an array of desserts and freshly brewed Black Ivory coffee. As he opened the door, the rich aroma of the coffee quickly overwhelmed the subtle jasmine scent in the room. Even though Hera wasn’t particularly fond of coffee, she couldn’t help but appreciate its enticing fragrance.
As if anticipating her thoughts, the manager urged Hera to take a seat so he could serve everyone a cup of coffee. Noticing that Bry was still young and unsure of his preference, he also brought out an assortment of flavored sodas and juice from the ice box beneath the cart.
He then arranged the desserts on a tiered stand, featuring an assortment of macarons, cupcakes, slices of carrot cake, red velvet cake, and more. Not knowing their specific preferences, he had prepared a variety of treats from the pantry. Fortunately, the spread helped everyone relax a bit and gave him a chance to mingle with the Young Miss and her guests, easing some of his stress.
“Please, try these desserts and coffee. I’m confident you’ll enjoy our patissier’s creations and the Black Ivory coffee. If you prefer, we also have Misha Coffee and other exclusive beans that can only be found in select places around the world. In fact, this racecourse has become a hub for coffee enthusiasts,” the manager said with a chuckle, fondly recalling how it all began.
“Uncle, this is a racecourse—people come here to ride horses, so how did it become a coffee hub?” Bry asked innocently, taking a bite of a cupcake he had never seen before. As the soft cream and moist cake melted in his mouth, his eyes fluttered in delight, and he seemed to forget his question, entirely focused on savoring his dessert.
The manager, undeterred by Bry’s distraction, continued to share the history of the racecourse, hoping Hera would find it interesting. “You see, both the late Master and Madam Avery had a passion for Black Ivory Coffee and horse riding. Over time, they passed their love for these activities to their daughter, making it a cherished family tradition. Their enjoyment of both pursuits attracted many clients and businessmen, leading to the establishment becoming a renowned hub for coffee lovers as well.”
Hera smiled weakly, she remembered this part, but it was also because of this that she wasn’t a fan of coffee, it easily reminded her how her parents loved to drink it, that’s why she started avoiding it, but luckily she retained her love for riding horses.
“Many of the late master’s friends enjoyed joining them for their coffee and horseback riding, and they were drawn to the Black Ivory Coffee served here. These friends often visited specifically to savor the coffee, and the clients and businessmen who awaited their turn in the lobby also had the opportunity to taste the variety of exclusive coffee beans in the late masters’ collection.”
“And eventually, it became customary for the masters to send guests home with coffee beans. As demand grew, they invested in their own plantation, turning their racecourse into a coffee hub and a gathering spot. The Old Master Avery honored his late son’s legacy by continuing this tradition, expanding the racecourse into an exclusive venue while also welcoming new guests.”
The manager recounted the history with a nostalgic smile, sharing every detail of how the racecourse evolved into a coffee hub and his own role in it. As he finished, Bry, clearly awed, stood up and exclaimed, “Is this what it feels like to be fucking rich?!” His eyes sparkled with excitement as he looked at the manager and Hera, eagerly awaiting their response.
Instead of answering, Hera burst into laughter, momentarily forgetting her sadness and enjoying Bry’s innocent and humorous reaction. His father, however, was less amused by Bry’s use of profanity in front of others. With a disapproving frown, he yanked Bry’s ear and pinched it sharply. “D-Dad! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to!” Bry cried out, wincing in pain.
Seeing the lighthearted exchange, everyone joined in the laughter. As the mood lightened, Gael, though looking somewhat awkward and apprehensive, took a deep breath and joined the conversation. “Manager, I actually came here to discuss the exclusive distribution of your coffee beans. I understand there may be a bidding process, but I’d like to take a chance and present my prepared offer and plan. If you could give me the opportunity, I’d greatly appreciate it.”
Gael appeared desperate, almost as if his life depended on securing the distribution rights. He practically begged the manager, but the manager remained composed, meeting Gael’s pleading gaze with a steady, unwavering look. “Tell me,” the manager said calmly, “why should I grant you that opportunity?”
“I understand that business shouldn’t be mixed with personal matters, but this means everything to me. If I fail to secure this order and my brothers win it instead, I’ll be seen as worthless in my family’s eyes. They’ve already threatened to cut off my mom’s medical payments if I don’t succeed. I admit, I was rebellious at first, trying to prove a point, but it turned into a habit to hide my pain. My family treated me and my mother like doormats until she was diagnosed with leukemia and needed treatment. That’s when I finally woke up to my own stupidity.”
“And this is the only way I can see for my mom and me to survive,” Gael said, keeping his voice steady despite the weight of his words. He knew that bringing emotions into a business deal could be risky, and the last thing he wanted was to appear vulnerable in front of a potential partner. He fought hard to maintain his composure, aware that many in the business world frowned upon letting emotions dictate decisions.
