Chapter 370: Chapter 370 The Real Offer 4
Additionally, his younger brother had unfinished business with Diamond, something he was certain his brother needed to resolve to move on from the past. Diamond was also his brother’s sole source of motivation to push forward and get better.
If it weren’t for his deep attachment to his goal, he would have given up long ago and resigned himself to a life as a cripple. Noticing Bry’s father’s hesitation and evident discomfort, Hera sensed his internal struggle and decided to offer him an alternative, easing the pressure he felt.
“Uncle, if there are some horses you’re not ready to part with, you don’t have to. Just sell the ones you’re comfortable letting go. Besides, this small decision won’t impact your collaboration with the Avery racecourse. The manager believes that once you start working with them on breeding and training, your skills will soon produce another champion horse,” Hera said with a reassuring smile, which visibly eased Bry’s father’s anxiety. The manager also nodded in agreement, affirming that Hera’s words were accurate.
Upon hearing this, Bry’s father’s tense shoulders relaxed, and a smile appeared on his lips. He responded with a sense of relief, “In that case, I can definitely sell you the two horses that placed first and second in the recent championship. Unfortunately, I can’t part with Diamond. I believe my younger brother uses Diamond as his motivation to improve, with the hope of returning to the racetrack one day with his favorite horse.” His voice was tinged with emotion and sincerity as he reminisced about his brother riding Diamond and crossing the finish line.
He also wanted to see that dream fulfilled. Zhane, with his medical background, agreed with Bry’s father. “Indeed, having a clear motivation or goal is crucial for a patient’s mental and physical recovery. Keeping Diamond would be beneficial for his morale, and selling the other two horses would alleviate the burden of his medical expenses. It’s a win-win situation,” Zhane said, his tone calm and supportive. He wanted to make sure Bry’s father felt validated in his decision and eased any lingering doubts.
“That’s fantastic news!” the manager said with enthusiasm. He immediately pulled out his phone and instructed his assistant to contact their lawyer to draft a new contract. He specified the amount for the purchase of the horses and ensured that the payment would be transferred to Bry’s father’s account as soon as possible.
Shortly after, the manager’s assistant arrived with the contract, carrying four folders in her arms. She set the stack down beside the manager, leaving Bry’s father puzzled but silent, awaiting an explanation from the manager.
The manager then began explaining the contents of the folders. “I had the Avery lawyers draft the contract for the sale of your two horses at $5 million each, totaling $10 million. Once you sign this contract, my team will arrange to transport the horses from your village, completing the transaction.”
He then pulled out the remaining contract. “This is the collaboration agreement between your family and the Avery Racecourse. It outlines our partnership for training and breeding horses. There’s also an added clause: if you produce another champion horse and decide to sell it, the Avery Racecourse will have the first opportunity to buy it. We will offer a fair price, and the terms will be negotiable in your term.”
The manager then slid the folders over to Bry’s father. Both Bry and his father were flabbergasted, remaining motionless as they absorbed the flood of information. Even though Bry was young, he understood that the terms were highly favorable, and his father’s reaction confirmed the positive nature of the offer.
Bry’s father glanced at Hera for reassurance, though he didn’t voice it. He suspected that Hera’s connection to the Avery family was the reason for the manager’s accommodating gesture. Despite knowing there was supposed to be a different heiress studying at Princeton, he couldn’t shake the belief that Hera was the genuine Avery heiress. How this had come to be was a mystery to him, but he trusted in her role and influence.
Everything that happened so far was enough proof that she was but he didn’t want to say anything about it since Hera seemed to be hiding that fact and he didn’t want to be meddlesome when she has become their benefactor since she won the equestrian race and gave up the reward to him and his family to help his younger brother and even managed to employ the renowned Doctor Everett that increase the chances of his younger brother’s surgery a success.
Seeing Hera’s approving gaze, Bry’s father felt reassured and proceeded without hesitation. He carefully reviewed all two contracts, scrutinizing every clause to ensure he understood and fulfilled his obligations. After signing the contracts, he respectfully returned them to the manager. The manager then added his signature to finalize the agreements and handed Bry’s father copies of each contract. With the paperwork complete, the manager stood up and shook Bry’s father’s hand, sealing their collaboration with a firm and respectful gesture.
After the contracts were signed, Bry and his father appeared visibly exhausted but much happier than when they arrived. Seeing their mood, Hera decided to suggest a celebration for their new collaboration. “How about we celebrate this new partnership?” she asked playfully, glancing at both the manager and Bry’s father. The manager, clearly eager for a celebratory feast, nodded enthusiastically, while Bry and his father, though initially hesitant and shy, managed to agree. Bry’s father gave a subtle nod, showing his willingness to join in the celebration.
Before they could leave, a pair of unwelcome individuals made their way to Hera’s table with an air of arrogance. Sienna, accompanied by the same girl from earlier, approached with an irritating swagger. Their voices were grating as they spoke. “Wow! Not only are you flirting with Zhane, but now you’re also making a play for the Young Minister? What a disgraceful whore!”
Hera remained unfazed by the insults, having braced herself for such mockery the moment she decided to pursue the male leads. However, the same could not be said for the men at her table. Even young Bry was scowling, his expression intense and ready to confront the troublemakers, like a young wolf poised to defend its territory.
Dave turned toward the girls with a smirk, his voice dripping with mockery. “Oh?! So I am the whore then? Since I was the one who willingly went to seduce my sweetheart. I just can’t keep my paws off of her whenever she’s around.” His anger was palpable masked by his playfullness, not just from their insults towards Hera but also from the venomous jealousy that seemed to consume them.
It was one thing for them to be jealous—that was their issue—but targeting his woman crossed a line.
Even the usually stern Zhane couldn’t let it go. “I must say, seeing how the Lennons raised their daughter has been quite eye-opening. With such a venomous mouth and a dirty mind, it’s no wonder you act this way. Yes, I am interested in Hera and am pursuing her, but I owe no explanation to you about any connections you think you have with me. Who do you think you are?” Zhane’s piercing gaze was cold and unyielding, his calm demeanor only emphasizing the frost in his eyes as he addressed the troublemakers.
