Chapter 386: Chapter 386 The Real Reason Behind Her Taunting
Hera was determined not to let her good mood be spoiled. After enjoying a delightful breakfast with Bry and the others, and getting to know Zhane and Dave better than she had from the novel, she felt she had already won the day. However, encountering Sienna and the others signaled the arrival of trouble and drama, which threatened to disrupt her positive start.
She was not in the mood to deal with these girls any longer and had resolved to ignore their nonsense after the altercation earlier that morning. One drama-filled encounter a day was already more than enough, and she had no patience for any additional headaches. So, before Sienna could unleash any sarcastic or derogatory remarks, Hera preemptively silenced her.
Sienna was taken aback and visibly confused, but Hera paid her no mind. She maintained her mischievous smile, looking every bit the enchanting figure in her floral dress that accentuated her curves.
“Just so you know, Sienna Lennon and Claire White,” Hera began, her gaze fixed intently on the two women she’d named. Sienna straightened up, her expression darkening as she recognized Hera’s condescending tone and braced herself for another confrontation. In contrast, Claire appeared visibly guilty and frightened, clearly unsettled by the situation.
Hera didn’t give Sienna a moment to retaliate; she took the reins in this encounter. “Didn’t you know that both of you are now blacklisted from all Avery establishments?” Hera said, her smile sweet but cutting.
Her words struck a nerve with Sienna, intensifying the animosity between them. Hera was fully aware that avoiding Sienna wouldn’t dissolve the hatred; in fact, it might only fuel it further. Since the female lead halo came with its share of drama, Hera decided it was better to confront it head-on and end the confrontation on her own terms.
Hera’s bombshell remark hit Sienna and Claire like a boulder, leaving them stunned. Just as the tension peaked, a group of business professionals walked in and witnessed the scene. They were all familiar with Sienna’s penchant for being the center of attention and her high-profile demeanor, which only added to the growing spectacle.
Most of them had heard a thing or two about the Lennons, so they recognized Sienna. The incident at the racecourse a few hours earlier was just beginning to make its way through the upper echelons of society. However, the full details of Sienna Lennon’s supposed engagement to Zhane Everett had yet to become widely known.
Even before the previous rumor had a chance to spread, another one was already brewing. Sienna realized this, her eyes turning panicked as she scanned the lobby. At least a dozen businessmen, gathered at the Golden Dragon Pavilion for meetings and entertainment, had witnessed the entire exchange.
Hera had anticipated this moment. When she noticed the influx of guests arriving, especially on a busy Friday, she seized the opportunity to drive the final nail into Sienna’s coffin. Her goal was to reduce the number of people targeting her, at least for a while. After all, she was still at the beginning of the storyline, where things were relatively mild, yet enemies were already cropping up from all sides.
It wasn’t just Sienna who was caught off guard and flustered by being thrust into the spotlight—Claire and the granddaughter of the Korean dignitary were also swept into the chaos, especially Claire, who had been named alongside Sienna. Claire had thought her blacklist was limited to the Golden Dragon Pavilion and had hoped to “accidentally” run into Gerald, knowing he was present, in a desperate attempt to salvage her tarnished image after her last public altercation with Hera at the same venue.
Claire was determined to use every trick at her disposal to redeem herself, even if it meant resorting to seducing Gerald, whom she believed was still single and “up for grabs.” Her desperation had only deepened after the fallout at home—her father had been livid upon learning their family’s prestigious membership at the Golden Dragon Pavilion had been revoked, turning all his hard-earned connections into dust.
Claire had not only been grounded for a week and stripped of her allowance for two months, but she had also endured a harsh beating from her father, leaving her unable to go out even after the grounding ended. The pain and humiliation she experienced fueled her resentment toward Hera, though it was mixed with a growing fear—Hera had become the face of her trauma, and Claire couldn’t shake the anxiety that came with facing her again.
Now, hearing from Hera, of all people, that they had been blacklisted from every Avery establishment felt like a death sentence. It wasn’t just a social snub—it was a declaration that they no longer had a place in their own country. Their only option would be to live like outcasts, unable to attend any major social events unless hosted in private homes.
Being blacklisted by a conglomerate family also meant that all the socialites would sever ties with them. Essentially, Hera was telling them to disappear quietly. She knew it was a harsh fate, but there was still a way out. They could flee, relocate their businesses overseas, and start afresh. It would be tough, but at least it would be a new beginning.
If Hera didn’t take this decisive action, Claire, her family, and other minor characters would inevitably be pulled deeper into the storyline. They’d be villainized, relentlessly targeting Hera to complicate her life. Worse, they could end up becoming the second “Hera”—mere cannon fodder, doomed to serve as obstacles to advance the plot. By cutting them off now, she was preventing them from following that path.
Although Hera wasn’t in a position to worry about their fate, considering she herself wasn’t safe from being dragged back into the role of cannon fodder she was destined to play.
“NO!” Sienna roared, her face contorting with rage as if she were about to pounce on Hera. Zhane and Dave, sensing the shift in Sienna’s demeanor, stepped forward to shield Hera. But Hera remained unflinching, her resolve firm. Her target wasn’t Claire; it was Sienna.
Hera aimed to provoke Sienna as much as Sienna wanted to provoke her. The strategy was simple: to stir up the Lennons and force them to act swiftly, particularly Tyler Lennon, who had been elusive since his scandal. Hera suspected Tyler was bidding his time, preparing to strike when least expected. It was far more dangerous to face an unexpected attack than to anticipate one.
Why target Sienna instead of going directly after Tyler? The answer was strategic: confronting Tyler directly would alert him to the danger, causing him to act with even greater caution and making Hera’s planned ambush ineffective. By provoking Sienna, Hera hoped to force Tyler into action prematurely, potentially catching him off guard.
More importantly, Sienna was the pampered princess of her family, adored even by her brother. Provoking her would make her so enraged that she would likely run to Tyler, her brother, in tears. Given the recent bad publicity surrounding the Lennons, including the drugging incident and the fallout at the racecourse, adding the news of Sienna being blacklisted from all Avery establishments would only stoke the flames. Tyler would perceive this as a deliberate provocation, interpreting it as a warning from the Avery family in retaliation for the drugging incident.
