Chapter 41: Chapter 41 Shopping 2
The Black Dragon Card issued by the Dragon Empire Bank was impossible to counterfeit. Its distinguishing feature was the Golden Dragon design, crafted from genuine gold with intricate carvings of codes resembling the chips on the card. Beyond its aesthetic value, these carvings served a crucial function. Embedded within the chip were encrypted bank details, ensuring secure transactions. Additionally, an anti-theft imprint prevented unauthorized reading devices from accessing the card’s information. Essentially, it functioned as a fortified bunker in the form of a card, accessible only to its rightful owner.
Hence, numerous affluent individuals worldwide sought to obtain one of these cards due to its foolproof features. However, the Avery family remained steadfast, refusing to release additional cards. They understood that increasing the card’s availability would diminish its rarity and exclusivity, rendering its unique features meaningless.
Despite the legendary status of this card, international stores made it a point to educate their staff about it, ensuring they knew how to handle it should they encounter one. However, for many, seeing the card remained a distant dream. Yet, if they were fortunate enough to come across it, they understood the importance of involving the highest authority within the store to complete any transaction. Given that it required a specialized card reader, regular card readers wouldn’t easily detect it.
“Are you really treating me to a shopping spree?” Athena asked, her disbelief evident in her tone.
“Well… If you’re not into it, I can always head home and catch some sleep,” Hera responded, feigning nonchalance as if she were genuinely considering leaving.
“No, stay!” Athena exclaimed, grabbing Hera’s arm and leading her to the bag section. She eagerly pointed out the bags she liked, and the shop assistant enthusiastically gathered them all. Before they knew it, they were surrounded by a swarm of shop assistants as they considered purchasing almost everything in the store. Despite her excitement, Hera held back from checking the price tags, knowing that the exorbitant prices would make her feel as if her heart were bleeding.
She aimed to acclimate to her newfound status and shed her frugal habits, recognizing the image she now needed to maintain.
As they shopped, the shop’s manager approached them, offering snacks and access to the VVIP room. There, they could relax and conveniently select from the latest models’ wear without having to exhaust themselves wandering the entire store.
Hera was delighted to learn about this option, which streamlined their shopping experience. It felt as if they were browsing through a catalog, simply pointing out whatever caught their eye, knowing it would be brought to them. Once they finished selecting their items, they could settle the bill and depart, making the process effortless and efficient.
Hera and Athena happily followed the manager to the VVIP room, where they were greeted with glasses of champagne. They indulged in the luxurious atmosphere, savoring the exquisite charcuterie board laid before them. The board boasted a selection of high-quality cheeses from around the world, accompanied by an assortment of fruits, nuts, and various hams expertly sliced into bite-sized pieces.
Hera and Athena raised their glasses in a toast, savoring the exquisite spread before them as they watched the models strut down the small runway. The first lineup showcased models with petite frames, standing at a height of 165 cm, resembling Athena’s physique. Meanwhile, the second lineup featured models with hourglass figures with c-cup breasts, boasting a height of 168 cm and matching Hera and Athena in various aspects, from skin tone to hair length. The similarity between the models and themselves was uncanny, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the fashion display.
The synchronized presentation of models made it effortless for Hera and Athena to select their preferred items. They didn’t have to strain to envision how the clothes would look on them, nor did they need to constantly shuttle back and forth to the fitting rooms. With such clarity in their choices, they were confident they wouldn’t experience any buyer’s remorse. It was the epitome of efficiency, a perfect example of hitting two birds with one stone.
Realizing the catwalk was nearing its conclusion, the manager swiftly made her way to her office to retrieve the specialized card reader designed specifically for black cards from any bank.
Upon completing their purchase, Hera and Athena provided their addresses to the manager for entry into the store’s database, ensuring seamless future transactions without the need for address confirmation. Thanks to their substantial purchase, delivery was complimentary. The manager was overjoyed as their sales quota for the month was easily surpassed, guaranteeing bonuses for all staff in the store.
Hera was satisfied with the service they received and took note of the manager’s attention to detail and took a mental note to visit the store again in the future.
After Hera and Athena departed, the staff cheerfully organized the items they had used, feeling reassured about their sales as Hera’s purchase alone surpassed four months’ worth of their sales quota. The prospect of receiving a substantial bonus buoyed their spirits. Observing the bustling activity, gossipy shop assistants from neighboring stores grew curious and approached to inquire. The Dior shop assistant beamed as she shared the news, nodding subtly towards Hera’s departing figure.
The shop assistant who had gone to snoop came rushing back to their respective stores to share the news. Soon, all the international brand stores were eager for Hera and her friend to grace their establishments, as they were all concerned about meeting their monthly quotas.
Shortly after, Athena pulled Hera to the Chanel store, where they were met with enthusiastic shop assistants eagerly awaiting their arrival. Both Hera and Athena were perplexed by the unusually warm reception, especially considering the indifferent treatment given to other customers. Unbeknownst to them, rumors of their presence had already spread before their arrival. ‘Gossip indeed had wings, traveling faster than they did.’
Similar to their experience at the previous store, Hera and Athena were escorted to a VVIP room where they were greeted with champagne and a lavish charcuterie board. Once again, models were arranged to showcase the latest collections, allowing Hera and Athena to enjoy their time selecting another round of dresses, bags, shoes, and accessories.
This pattern continued as they ventured into other renowned stores such as Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Versace, and Fendi.
They nearly traversed the entirety of the mall, and Hera was on the verge of bursting from all the eating and drinking. Each store they visited offered the same lavish reception and treatment, which was initially amusing. However, after the fourth time, Hera began to grow suspicious that information might have been shared amongst the stores. Despite her suspicions, she had no way to confirm it, and she was feeling utterly exhausted.
Hera felt as though her legs no longer belonged to her, especially considering she was wearing 5-inch high heels. Despite her fatigue, Athena seemed to be full of energy, eager to drag her to the next store with cute clothes on display.
Unable to resist her curiosity, Hera couldn’t help but ask Athena a question. “How come you don’t show the same endurance when we’re exercising? You always claim you’re not the athletic type and more of a homebody who gets tired easily, hmm?” Hera teased.
“What? Haven’t you heard that people have different stomachs for dessert? Well, in my case, I have a separate stamina for shopping, so let’s go!!!!” Athena retorted, her excitement undiminished.
Hera wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry at Athena’s boundless enthusiasm, but thankfully, Athena seemed to sense that Hera was reaching her limit. Instead of pushing her further, Athena decided to divert their attention to a Chinese cuisine restaurant located on the fourth floor.
“Hmm. Miss Ainsley?” A hoarse voice grabbed her attention.
