Chapter 422: Chapter 422 Who Is She?
After being shoved, Hera quickly understood what the girl was trying to accomplish.
If she backed down now against someone who didn’t even have a place in the storyline, how could she ever assert herself against Alice and the other girls vying for the attention of the male leads?
After all, they were magnets for bees and butterflies wherever they went.
“Dave, who is she?” Hera asked, playfully snaking her arms around Dave’s, like a minx.
After all, Rafael had already labeled her a minx in his contacts, so why not embrace the role and let others see it?
Hera’s inner villainess cackled with delight as she observed the girl’s eyes widen in shock, her face reddening with a pout as she fought back tears, refusing to give Hera the satisfaction of knowing she had won.
After hearing Hera’s sweet voice as she clung to him, asserting her territory in front of another woman, Dave was initially taken aback. However, a warm and gentle smile spread across his face, his eyes reflecting the affection he felt as he looked down at her face.
Before he continued, he said, “These guys are the wealthy heirs of some of the country’s most powerful families. We often hang out here to race. And she… hmm, how do I put this?”
Dave rubbed his chin thoughtfully with his free hand, playfully glancing sideways at Hera’s face to tease her.
Hera joined in the fun, playfully pinching his sides and eliciting a hearty laugh from Dave. He then explained, “She’s one of the sisters from one member of the national race team. She always comes to support her brother and has made friends with this group of kids.”
Dave acted as if all the men around them were nothing but kids. In reality, they were the same age as he was, but unlike Dave—who held a powerful position and had close friendships with equally successful individuals like Luke—this group genuinely looked like children.
Even at their age, they were still clinging to their parents for allowances, spending their time racing, drinking, eating, and sleeping like a bunch of teenagers.
It was hard to blame them for choosing such a lifestyle; they could afford to be lazy. If they ever decided to leave their carefree lives behind and start working, there were jobs waiting for them—they just needed to show up.
If they chose to continue living this way, they already had shares in their family companies that would allow them to enjoy a leisurely life for the rest of their days. After all, who wouldn’t want such a carefree lifestyle?
After hearing Dave’s explanation, referring to her as merely a sister of one of the racers from the national team struck the girl hard. Her face paled, and the redness in her eyes and the tip of her nose betrayed her growing distress.
Seeing the girl in distress made Hera feel a twinge of sympathy, so she decided to stop stirring trouble. “Shall we head inside? I’m excited for a spin,” she said, maintaining her smile as she nodded at everyone surrounding Dave.
Dave nodded eagerly at Hera’s request, more than happy to guide her to his car for a spin.
But before leading her away, he looked around at the men surrounding him, puffed out his chest, and declared, “You should show respect to your future sister-in-law. Don’t anger her, because upsetting her means upsetting me. Understand?”
Dave didn’t need to specify who he was talking about; everyone understood his implication. His words also served as a clear warning to the girl, telling her to stop pestering him and dreaming of things she couldn’t have.
Dave chose not to confront the girl directly, as he still had enough decency not to embarrass her in front of the crowd. However, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t issue a warning.
If they continued to disregard his boundaries, they couldn’t fully blame him for being ruthless or disrespectful.
Everyone understood this; despite Dave’s carefree and easygoing demeanor, they all knew that crossing him would reveal a side no one wanted to witness. He could be just as intimidating and scary when provoked.
When he issued his warning, everyone gulped, a shiver running down their spines, and they could only nod in agreement. However, the girl was so consumed by her jealousy and envy of Hera that she didn’t even register what Dave had said.
She could only stare at Hera with unmistakable hatred. She had invested so much time trying to impress Dave—learning about cars, mastering racing techniques like her brother, and even delving into engine specifications and details.
Over the years she had known Dave, she had done so much to catch his attention. She had also met Rafael, but unlike Dave’s easygoing personality, Rafael appeared intimidating and had a short temper.
Despite being as handsome as sin, she still preferred Dave. She had always been confident in her looks, especially her voluptuous figure.
But seeing Hera standing so close to Dave made all her hard work feel futile. She felt an urge to step forward and drag Hera away by her hair, furious at how the other girl clung to his arm with her long claws, which irritated her to the core.
Hera could feel the piercing gaze boring into her back, sending goosebumps across her skin.
However, she pretended not to notice and continued to engage with Dave and the other guys who fawned over her because of him.
While she didn’t shut them down, she maintained a cordial and polite demeanor, despite her lack of genuine enthusiasm.

Dave didn’t disappoint Hera. As soon as they stepped out to where the cars were parked, he immediately guided her to a striking red racing car adorned with stickers on each side, as well as on the wings and front.
Dave’s car almost resembled Lightning McQueen, making Hera chuckle unconsciously. She recalled the cartoon racing car from her childhood, and it seemed as if Dave was trying to recreate that iconic look, as if to say that he was the best racer in his own right.
She ran her fingers along the sleek surface of the car while Dave stood back, watching her admire it with a doting smile on his face. “Do you like it?” he asked.
Hera nodded, grinning at him. “Lightning McQueen?” she teased.
“Oh?! Was it that obvious?” Dave didn’t seem surprised that Hera noticed the resemblance. Instead, he flashed a boyish grin and raised an eyebrow playfully.
Hera chuckled as she stood in front of the car. Dave gently took her hand and led her to the passenger seat. “Shall we go for a spin?”
Without hesitation, Hera nodded eagerly. Dave quickly settled into the driver’s seat after helping her in, leaving everyone in a daze as the car roared to life, the exhaust fumes lingering in the air.
“I think Dave is serious about that girl. He’s never let anyone sit in his car—not even Rafael,” one of the guys remarked.
“Duh! Who would let anyone else sit in their car if it costs millions and is fully customized with the best of everything? The engine and materials he chose are top-notch, designed to withstand damage even in a crash.”
