Chapter 518: Chapter 518 Rescuers Are Arriving
Hera’s mind raced as she tried to piece together the puzzle—why had the mafia syndicate targeted Minerva so boldly?
Why kidnap her right from her own house, without fear of repercussions?
Despite her best efforts to theorize, the answers remained elusive.
Frustrated but resolute, she decided that the only way to uncover the truth was to push Gerald for more information.
Or better yet, she thought, Luke could be the key.
With his own mafia forces, he could discreetly mobilize them against the rival syndicates.
That way, any investigation into the matter could be framed as a simple territory dispute, deflecting suspicion and giving them the cover they needed.
Hera knew that putting herself in the spotlight would only make things more difficult for her in the future, especially if the mafia syndicates turned their attention toward her.
With that concern lingering in the back of her mind, she decided to focus on the immediate task at hand.
She sent a message to Sasha, inquiring about the progress of the rescue operation for Minerva and Rafael.
Moments later, Sasha replied, confirming that their team was already nearing the location.
“Sister Hera, I checked your location on the visual map and sent it to the team. However, the pilot mentioned that it wouldn’t be safe for the helicopter to land directly at your position.”
“They can drop down a ladder for you to climb, and a suspended stretcher for Rafael, but those options are risky, especially with syndicate members still lurking nearby. The safest course of action would be for them to find a clearing and land there before proceeding.”
“But that also means the team will need to rappel down to your location. Once they arrive, you and the team will need to move to the designated extraction point to board the helicopter before being transported back to safety,” Sasha reported.
Hera considered Sasha’s report carefully, and everything made sense.
The tree they were hiding on top of covered a large area, so even if the team rappelled down, they would have to do so farther from their location.
They might engaged in a skirmish with the opposing forces on the way to Hera’s location and it might be inevitable, which would only delay the rescue.
Transporting the injured Rafael added more risk—especially since it was clear that the mafia syndicate wasn’t going to let Minerva and Rafael go easily.
According to the report, the mafia’s main forces had been in a standoff with Rafael’s backup team hours ago, meaning they were likely more alert now.
While she was confident that her people could deal with the syndicate, the real concern was the girls in the underground cells that Minerva had mentioned.
Hera shook herself out of her thoughts, slapping each side of her cheeks to snap back into focus.
‘Hera stopped thinking…’ There was no point in overthinking things right now.
She wasn’t in a position to help herself, let alone the women in the underground cells.
She had already called in the right people to handle the situation—her overthinking wouldn’t change anything.
It was time to trust her team and stay focused on the task at hand.
After regaining her focus, Hera quickly messaged Sasha again. “What’s the plan? Should we stay put, or should we move to a new position?”
“Team A and Team B are en route to your location, while Team C is heading to the stronghold to assist Rafael’s team. Given Rafael’s condition—if what you said is accurate—your best option is to wait for the teams to arrive and help bring him down safely.”
“Moving him now could worsen his injuries,” Sasha explained clearly, ensuring everyone understood the gravity of the situation.
Hera, too, had considered this, and was just as concerned about moving Rafael too soon.
“Understood, we’ll stay put,” Hera replied to Sasha before tucking her phone securely back into her cleavage to keep it from falling.

She then focused on Minerva, continuing to crush more grass to treat her injuries.
Realizing she had no other fabric to tear, Hera reluctantly used the remaining length of Minerva’s long dress, now reduced to a miniskirt, to tear into strips.
She carefully tied up the wounds, applying the crushed herbs to prevent infection and reduce inflammation.
Hera was surprised by Minerva’s unexpected calmness.
Despite her wounds being just as severe as Rafael’s, Minerva wasn’t whining or complaining as usual.
Instead, she remained still, quietly following Hera’s instructions without resistance.
Recognizing the unusual silence, Hera didn’t say anything either, simply continuing to apply the crushed grass to the wounds as Minerva allowed her to.
“Thank you.” Minerva’s quiet words of gratitude caught Hera by surprise, causing her eyebrows to arch up.
However, she said nothing in response, simply nodding at Minerva before turning her attention back to Rafael.
Her gaze then shifted to the massive python, still coiled in the branches above them.
The sight of its enormous head resting there making her scalp tingle as she felt the shudder run in her spine.
Thankfully, its eyes were closed; had it been watching them, Hera would have likely lost her composure and started crying.
Soon, the distant rumble of helicopters reached their ears, signaling that help was on the way.
Minerva perked up, her face lighting up with a smile.
“The rescuers are coming for us!” she exclaimed, her excitement barely contained.
If she weren’t so cautious about the possibility of enemies still lurking nearby, she would have shouted in pure joy.
“Yes, they’re coming for us. We should prepare.” Hera said, her voice calm but with a note of urgency.
She checked Rafael’s wounds once more, ensuring the bleeding had stopped.
Gently, she brushed his hair off his forehead, revealing strands that had fallen out of place.
His usually well-kept hair now hung in disarray, but rather than making him look unkept, it only intensified his dangerous aura, making him look even more dangerously handsome.
Hera’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly averted her gaze, her mind swirling with concern as she refocused on his wound.
“Big guy, you’re going to have to endure a bit longer, but I promise you, everything will be alright.” Hera murmured softly, her voice gentle and reassuring as she stroked Rafael’s hair, her hands moving in soothing motions, almost as if she were trying to calm him through her touch.
The rumble of the helicopter grew louder, but then it suddenly stopped, only to fade into the distance.
“Wait, they’re leaving! We need to get to them!” Minerva’s voice trembled in panic as she heard the helicopter pull away, her eyes wide with alarm.
“Don’t worry. They’re just looking for a safe place to land. A group of highly trained, retired soldiers is on their way to rescue us.” Hera reached out, gently stopping Minerva from getting up as she struggled, panic overtaking her.
“R-really? You’re not just saying that to calm me down, are you?” Minerva’s voice cracked, her eyes shimmering with barely-contained tears.
Fear gripped her, especially with her brother—her only rock—unconscious and in danger.
“I won’t lie to you,” Hera said firmly, her voice steady despite the chaos around them.
Minerva reluctantly sank back into her place, but this time, her grip tightened around Hera’s hands.
With her brother unconscious, she felt as though only Hera could offer her any sense of safety.
Without realizing it, she clung to her, the fear and uncertainty making her desperate for comfort.
