Chapter 520: Chapter 520 Hera Got Caught
Minerva opened her mouth to say something to Hera, but before she could, a figure suddenly darted toward them out of nowhere.
“Watch out!” Minerva exclaimed, but her warning faded as she realized the “threat” was just a large, overly friendly puppy—or rather, a person bounding toward them with all the enthusiasm of a lost dog.
“What are you guys doing here?” Hera exclaimed, nearly losing her balance as Leo ran up and hugged her tightly, clinging to her like a koala.
Behind him were Luke, Dave, Xavier, and Zhane, along with Team B.
Zhane immediately hurried over to check on Rafael’s condition.
Thankfully, the group had noticed halfway through their journey that Hera’s livestream was still running, allowing them to track her movements as they rushed to reach her.
Along the way, they encountered the support team Hera had requested, which included three helicopters.
Deciding to follow the helicopters, they kept a close eye on Hera’s livestream, their hearts in their throats with every tense moment.
Seeing the massive snake and watching Hera’s every risky move made them feel like they were on a rollercoaster—they were desperate to reach her, hoping to keep her safe from harm.
Now that Hera was safely in front of them, the group felt a wave of reassurance.
Since joining up with Hera’s team, they’d been outfitted with bulletproof vests, helmets, and at least one handgun each, ensuring they were well-equipped for the situation.
Zhane, carrying a medical kit, was ready to assist the team’s field medic.
With Zhane and the medic now escorting Rafael’s stretcher, Hera felt her lingering fear gradually melt away, replaced by a renewed sense of security.
Before heading to the designated location where the helicopters awaited, all five men took a moment to hug Hera, easing their own nerves after the tense ordeal.
Still feeling on edge, they moved steadily through the forest, momentarily forgetting that Hera’s livestream was still running.
Team A led the group while Team B guarded the rear, with Leo, Luke, Dave, and Xavier positioned in the center to protect Hera, along with Rafael and Minerva.
Due to their large group, they were hard to miss, drawing attention as they moved through the forest.
This heightened the retired soldiers’ caution, making them even more vigilant as they scanned their surroundings, their own nerves on edge.
Rustle-
Rustle…
A rustling in the bushes snapped everyone to attention. They halted instantly, each member moving swiftly into position, alert and ready.
“Take cover!” the captain shouted, his command followed by a sudden burst of gunfire.
Leo, closest to Hera, sprang unto his feet, pulling her down to the ground for safety.
Those near the trees took cover behind trunks, while the retired soldiers prepared to return fire.
Soon, both sides were exchanging rounds. Leo quickly guided Hera behind a sturdy tree, while the others did the same, drawing their guns and unlocking them, ready for the fight.
“Give me a gun too,” Hera demanded, looking at one of the soldiers who was supposed to be her security detail.
“Young Miss, please leave this to us,” the captain replied firmly. “We can’t risk anything happening to you.” With a quick hand signal, he directed the others to move in and surround the enemy while providing covering fire.
“But I don’t feel safe without some kind of protection,” Hera insisted.
“What if someone suddenly appears and points a gun at me?” She didn’t want to shoot anyone, but she couldn’t ignore the possibilities.
The captain hesitated, her reasoning clearly giving him pause as he considered her request.

“Don’t worry, wifey. I’ll protect you with my life,” Leo promised, his grip on her hand firm and resolute.
His determination left Hera speechless.
She understood that Leo was shielding her from the burden of having to harm someone, even if that person deserved it.
In his own way, he was protecting her from more than just physical danger—he was protecting her heart.
Understanding Leo’s intentions, Hera chose not to argue and stayed behind the tree.
Meanwhile, the captain had instructed his men to surround the enemy and eliminate the threat.
The only ones left with Hera were Leo, Luke, Dave, Xavier, and Zhane. Zhane remained with the field medic and Rafael, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings.
Luke, Dave, and Xavier positioned themselves slightly ahead, guarding the area and keeping watch, while Leo stayed right by Hera’s side, ever vigilant.
Before long, the gunfire subsided.
“Clear!”
“Area B is clear!”
“Area A is secure!”
The mafia syndicate who had come to confront and had tracked them down were swiftly neutralized in a few well-placed shots.
After all, these were all seasoned veterans, experienced in combat and ready for anything.
What they didn’t realize was that the men who had drawn their attention were merely a decoy.
The main force had been planning an ambush from behind, closing in on them stealthily. By the time they noticed, it was already too late.
“Ah!” Hera cried out in surprise as she was suddenly yanked backward. Leo, who had been just ahead of her, instinctively turned at the sound.
His eyes widened as he saw Hera being pulled away, and before they could react, another group from the mafia syndicate emerged from the bushes, opening fire.
Thanks to Hera’s startled yell, Leo and the others barely managed to dodge the incoming gunfire.
If not for her warning, they would have had bullet holes in their bodies by now.
However, the surprise attack left them scrambling for cover, and in the chaos, Hera was taken.
Minerva, still safe with the captain, had remained unharmed, but Hera, despite being protected, had been snatched right from under their noses.
Panic surged through the group as they fought back, the air thick with urgency.
The mafia syndicate managed to inflict only superficial wounds on Leo and the others before being cut down swiftly, their lives ending almost as quickly as the attack began.
Hera, on the other hand, was forcefully dragged away.
One of the men had a grip on her neck, his large, rough hands nearly encircling it completely. His face, was marked by scars and shadowed by a cruel expression with a crew-cut hairstyle.
The bloodlust that radiated from him sent a chill through Hera’s body. As she struggled, he shot her a cold sidelong glance, a warning that made her freeze in fear.
There were four of them in total who managed to slip away.
Three guarded the rear, eyes scanning the surroundings, while the fourth held a pistol in his right hand, his other arm gripping Hera tightly.
The other three had their fingers poised on the triggers of their assault rifles, ready for any move.
Their pace was harsh and swift, nearly dragging Hera along as they forced her to move faster.
Hera didn’t resist, understanding that she was at a disadvantage and that acting recklessly would only make things worse.
Instead, she silently complied, which caused the man holding her to glance at her for a moment.
He hesitated, then loosened his grip on her neck, wary that he might snap her delicate bones with a single wrong move.
“Where are you taking me?” Hera pretended to look timid and scared as she asked with trembling voice.
