Chapter 527: Chapter 527 Checking On Rafael
Instead of returning to bed, Luke made his way downstairs and saw Amy and Hannah already busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
Not wanting to disturb them, he quietly turned back and headed toward Hera’s room.
It was nearly 6 in the morning, and he knew that Hera typically went for her morning run at this time.
As Luke approached Hera’s room to wake her, he was surprised to see her slowly open her eyes and stretch, already awake.
Dave had gone back to sleep, having returned late the night before, and Xavier was still in bed, taking his time.
That left Luke and Hera to prepare for their morning run around the huge garden outside.
After an hour and a half of running, they finally returned, feeling refreshed and ready for breakfast.
Hannah had prepared a comforting chicken mushroom soup and seared salmon with lemon on top of a fresh salad, the perfect meal to refuel after their exercise.
As Hera and Luke settled into their seats, Dave and Xavier slowly made their way down from the second floor.
Dave stretched, rubbing his stomach as he yawned, still clearly half-asleep, while Xavier, his hair a mess like a bird’s nest, rubbed his eyes groggily.
Hera couldn’t help but laugh—this was a far cry from the polished actor Xavier played on the silver screen.
The two of them were so comfortable and at ease, unconcerned about appearances, which made her smile.
Luke, who was serving Hera the soup, noticed where she was looking and smirked, but Dave caught the faint scoff in his tone. His eyes shot open, and he shot Luke a glare.
But Luke didn’t even acknowledge Dave’s glare, his attention solely focused on Hera.
Meanwhile, Xavier seized the opportunity and slipped into the seat beside her, catching Dave completely off guard.
It was only then that Dave realized he had been left behind. Reluctantly, he settled into the seat across from Hera, giving him the chance to at least see her face as she ate, and he could still offer her some food.
But neither Xavier nor Luke were giving Dave a chance to serve Hera.
It was as if they had eyes on the sides of their heads, or perhaps their attention was so split that one eye was constantly on Hera while the other stayed focused on everything else.
Whatever she needed seemed to appear before her without a word, making it clear that they were both keeping a close eye on her.
In exasperation, Dave stabbed his food throughout the entire breakfast, which made Hera chuckle as she ate.
It was rare for her dining room to feel this lively, especially in the mornings, so she found it refreshing and fun to spend this kind of time with everyone.
After breakfast and they all freshen up, they all headed down to the garage.
Since Hera’s cars were all two-seaters, they didn’t use any of them.
Instead, they made their way to Luke’s parking spot, where his custom matte-black Land Rover SV was parked, ready for the day ahead.
The sleek design and luxurious interior of the Land Rover exuded elegance, parked next to Luke’s Aston Martin Victor.
Without hesitation, Luke unlocked the car and opened the passenger door for Hera, carefully placing his hand above the frame to ensure she wouldn’t bump her head.
Hera smiled gratefully at him.
Meanwhile, Dave and Xavier slid into the back seats, and together, they made their way to the hospital.
Although they still couldn’t reach Leo, they had already left him a message, informing him that they were heading to check on Rafael.
When they arrived at the hospital, Zhane was already waiting at the entrance to greet them.

“You all go ahead,” Luke said as he pulled up to the curb, “I’ll park the car. I can’t stay here too long, just in case there’s an emergency or other patients need access.”
Hera glanced at him, concern in her eyes. “Are you sure? We can wait for you here.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll call Leo on my way up,” Luke reassured her with a warm smile, his tone soothing.
Only after his reassurance did Hera step back, letting him go. They watched as he drove toward the parking lot, his car disappearing around the corner.
Zhane gestured for them to follow him inside, but his disheveled appearance quickly caught Hera’s attention.
His dark under-eye circles and bloodshot eyes were impossible to miss, making it clear he hadn’t slept.
Concern flickered across Hera’s face as she observed him closely, worry tightening her chest.
“Zhane, here, take this chicken mushroom soup. Hannah made it, and it’ll be good to warm your stomach,” Hera said, holding up the thermal flask she had brought along.
Though she didn’t hand it to him just yet, her tone was full of concern.
Zhane’s gaze softened as he saw the care in Hera’s eyes.
The fact that she had thought to bring him food touched him deeply, and a warm smile spread across his face.
It wasn’t the usual polite or calculated expression he reserved for patients; this smile was genuine, gentle, and heartfelt.
Nearby, a few nurses who had been discreetly observing were utterly stunned.
They had never seen Dr. Zhane Everett, known for his aloof and stern demeanor, show such warmth toward anyone.
The sight of him smiling so openly was almost surreal, leaving them exchanging hushed whispers, clearly intrigued by the rare transformation of their usually composed superior.
Under the weight of curious gazes from the nurses and passersby, Zhane led Hera and the others directly to the sixth floor.
He had already instructed the staff to notify Hera where to go and ensure someone was available to assist them when they arrived.
Yet, despite his meticulous preparation, he couldn’t shake the urge to be there personally with her.
Now, walking alongside Hera, Zhane felt an unexpected release of tension that had been weighing him down.
The exhaustion he had been carrying from the moment Rafael was brought in—when he personally performed the surgery and stayed to monitor the siblings—seemed to catch up with him all at once.
It had been nearly, or perhaps over, 24 hours since they had left the race circuit in search of Rafael, and the whirlwind of events since then had been relentless.
Yet, in Hera’s presence, there was a strange sense of solace that allowed him to take a deep breath for the first time in hours.
His family had also been thrown into turmoil due to the scandal involving his uncle-in-law.
Fortunately, Zhane had anticipated the fallout and prepared ahead of time. Even so, there was still collateral damage to address.
As the sole heir, he took it upon himself to tie up the loose ends and assist his aunt in settling down after filing for divorce from her now ex-husband.
Thankfully, a prenuptial agreement was in place, and Zhane had managed to secure solid evidence of his uncle’s infidelity.
He had instructed one of their employees to save CCTV footage from the Seaside Cove, a location his uncle frequented.
As expected, his uncle attempted to erase the evidence, but Zhane had already made a backup.
That footage, coupled with employee testimonies about his uncle’s repeated indiscretions and his audacity to charge personal expenses to the family’s account, became irrefutable proof that sealed the case against him.
