Chapter 537: Chapter 537 Another Slip
“That’s the fastest sleeping record, ain’t it?” Dave asked with amusement, glancing down at Leo.
“What happened to him?” He shifted his attention to Luke, who only shrugged in response.
They were all caught up in their own tasks after Rafael had been sent to the hospital, and only they knew the details of what kept them so busy.
Even Luke hadn’t fully explained his sudden disappearance overnight, and Zhane was still on duty, looking after Rafael.
Seeing everyone like this, Hera couldn’t help but feel bad for them.
Only she and Xavier had a full day of rest yesterday, while Leo had disappeared for the entire day and, it seemed, hadn’t slept since then—making it two nights straight without rest.
Zhane too, was showing signs of exhaustion, his bloodshot eyes betraying the lack of sleep.
“Is it possible to request a bed here so we can all get some rest?” Hera asked with a wry smile.
Leo, much like Luke, seemed completely out of it, showing no signs of waking up anytime soon. He looked just as unmovable as Luke had when he fell asleep in Hera’s lap yesterday.
“That’s a good idea,” Zhane replied, immediately pulling out his phone to send a quick message.
Within minutes, a group of hospital staff entered, working quietly to rearrange the room.
They carefully moved Rafael’s bed and medical equipment, ensuring nothing was disturbed, and pushed everything aside to make room for the large bed they were setting up.
Using a makeshift frame built from a supply crate, they assembled two queen-sized beds in the center of the room.
Fortunately, the VIP room was spacious enough to accommodate these changes without issue.
As the staff made their adjustments, Rafael’s gaze lingered on the large bed with a wistful expression.
He, too, longed to rest beside them, not isolated in the sterile, cold confines of his hospital bed.
The warmth and comfort of being close to Hera felt like a distant longing in that moment.
After a while, the hospital staff finished arranging the covers, duvet, pillows, and blankets, and, without a word, quietly left the room.
Without hesitation, Luke, Xavier, and Dave worked together to lift Leo, intending to transfer him to the new bed.
However, since Leo refused to let go of Hera, it meant that she, too, had to be moved with him.
The task turned out to be more difficult than they expected, with the three of them sweating and exchanging a few choice words, especially from Dave, who couldn’t help but mutter a curse or two.
“Goddamn it! What is he, a monkey or a damn koala?!” Dave grumbled, struggling to lift Leo.
“What is he made of, steel and iron? Why the hell is he so heavy?!” He panted, frustration clear in his voice as he heaved Leo up once again.
Luke and Xavier exchanged a glance, ignoring Dave’s grumbling as they worked together to remove Leo’s shoes, each of them handling one foot.
Meanwhile, Zhane, sitting by Rafael’s bed, carefully fed him the chicken and mushroom soup Hera had brought.
Once he finished, Zhane opened the second thermal flask and began eating his own portion.
Despite Rafael’s quiet protests, wanting Hera to feed him instead, he couldn’t muster the strength to push the thought away—Hera was still stuck with Leo, who refused to let go.
Ring…
Ring…
Hera’s phone kept ringing, its persistent sound coming from her bag on the bedside table next to Rafael.

Since Leo refused to let go, Hera was left with no choice but to either ask someone to pass her the phone or answer it themselves.
However, she was reluctant to stir and risk waking Leo.
Whenever Luke, Xavier, and Dave moved Leo, he slept soundly like a log, but the moment Hera even seemed like she might leave, his eyes would flicker open, and he’d pull her tighter.
As much as she wanted to answer the call, she couldn’t bring herself to disturb Leo’s sleep.
“Could you guys please answer my phone? Ugh,” Hera groaned, her words interrupted by a soft tickling sensation as Leo nuzzled the crook of her neck.
Her eyes fluttered involuntarily, trying to hold back a laugh.
Since Rafael was still too injured to move much, the nearest person to her bag was Xavier.
Without a second thought, Xavier reached over with ease, grabbed the phone from Hera’s bag, and answered it.
Without even glancing at the caller ID, Xavier picked up the phone, his eyes still narrowed with envy as he glanced at Leo. He switched the call to speaker mode, and a man’s voice immediately rang out from the other end.
“Hello, young miss?! Good morning! I heard from Cindy that you went to the hospital to visit one of your boyfriends.”
The mention of “visiting one of your boyfriends” instantly lifted Rafael’s spirits, wiping away any lingering feelings of being left out.
A small smile tugged at his lips.
The others couldn’t help but smirk as well, each of them silently thinking, ‘Is this a subtle admission of our relationship and place beside Hera?’ Who wouldn’t be happy with that?
But since they were all too happy to react, and Hera was frozen in place, her face paling as she tried to speak, it was already too late.
Gerald’s loud voice boomed through the phone, eagerly reporting everything he had done.
“Young Miss, guess what?” Gerald didn’t even wait for a reply before continuing.
“I’ve already bought up most of the profitable businesses from the Lennon’s family under your name and repurposed the others to boost their value before reselling. As for the rest, your boyfriends swooped in and made sure the other sharks didn’t get a chance to bite.”
“Additionally, I’ve been keeping an eye on the foreign company you were interested in—the one moving into AI drones. As soon as they opened for investment, I made sure to transfer the $10 billion you instructed me to.”
“You wouldn’t believe how shocked their young CEO was when he received such a large investment right off the bat. He even called me, almost in tears, thinking we were trying to buy his company. He didn’t seem opposed to the idea, though. Should I go ahead and buy it outright?”
Hera felt an overwhelming urge to kick Gerald right then and there.
All five pairs of eyes in the room turned to her, their brows raised in unison, disbelief etched across their faces.
Even Luke, known as ‘Midas’ Hand’, looked momentarily stunned by the sheer size of the sum Gerald had mentioned.
It was clear to everyone in the room — especially since they’d all met Gerald in person multiple times — that they recognized his voice instantly.
His overly subservient tone towards Hera, referring to her as “Young Miss,” didn’t go unnoticed either, leaving everyone with the same unspoken question: ‘Just how close are they, really? Or what’s up with their relationship.’
Hera took a deep, shaky breath, feeling her body tremble, but she forced herself to maintain a composed expression and steady demeanor.
With a practiced air of confidence, she spoke as if she hadn’t noticed the questioning looks around her.
“Ha ha ha, Mr. Troy, you truly go above and beyond. I can only thank you for the generous compensation you provided for the incident at the hotel you manage. And as for the $50 billion… please, don’t jest. Otherwise, everyone listening will start thinking far too highly of me.”
