Chapter 645: Chapter 645 Lead
After shooting Xavier a sharp glare, Hera couldn’t help but chuckle, and soon both of them were laughing louder.
What had just happened was nerve-wracking; Hera had honestly thought they’d been caught. She was still feeling embarrassed and tangled up in a mix of emotions.
But the fact that they’d somehow managed to get through it without being noticed was a bit thrilling.
Then, a slight breeze brushed under her, and she suddenly felt the discomfort of her love juice pooling down her thigh.
Her realization that she wasn’t wearing any panties made her head snap toward Xavier.
Hera’s eyes widened when she saw Xavier teasingly raise her missing panties, a mischievous grin playing on his lips.
She immediately reached out to snatch them back, but Xavier skillfully dodged her hand and tucked the panties into his pocket, grinning like a cat who had stolen a piece of fish.
Before Hera could react further, the assistant returned, holding a glass of warm water and the medicine.
With the assistant now in the room, Hera had no choice but to stop her attempt to reclaim her panties.
Hesitantly, she sank back into her chair, feeling a mixture of discomfort and embarrassment.
Hera stood up and walked to the bathroom inside the office, eager to wash away the discomfort she was feeling.
She splashed some cold water on her flushed face, trying to calm herself.
Her heart was still pounding from the close call—they had almost been caught doing something naughty in the office.
The thrill of it had been so intense that she was still reeling from the experience.
She hadn’t expected Xavier to be so daring. In her mind, he’d always been the most innocent of the six men, but now she realized he could be just as crazy as Luke.
To think that he would pull something like that in a public place was something Hera was only now discovering.
After washing her face with cold water and wiping away the remnants of the love juice that had pooled around her thigh, Hera took a moment to compose herself.
As she stepped out of the bathroom, the delicious scent of food wafted through the air, a clear sign that she had spent so much time inside that the food delivery had already arrived.
“Young Miss, please have a seat and eat first,” the assistant said, bowing slightly. “I apologize if the food seems underwhelming, but I figured, since you’re not feeling well, your appetite might be affected. So, I ordered some light gruel and snacks. If there’s anything else you’d prefer, please don’t hesitate to let me know.” He gestured toward the food and stood aside, waiting patiently.
“Aren’t you eating with us?” Hera asked, tilting her head to the side.
“I ordered a club sandwich for myself,” the assistant replied. “I still have a lot to do and need to make sure everyone stays on track tonight with the data, so I needed something I can take with me.”
He then pulled out another box from the paper bag, along with a drink, before heading for the door. Just as he was about to leave, he turned back and added, “Please, don’t forget to take your medicine.”
With that, he stepped out, and the room fell into a quiet, almost oppressive silence.
Hera then heard the sound of Xavier munching on his snack, and when she glanced at him, she caught him already staring at her, a gentle yet mischievous glint in his eyes as he happily ate.
Hera quickly looked down, focusing on the gruel Xavier had placed in front of her, along with some side dishes.
He seemed like he was about to say something, but he held back, continuing to eat.
The pause made Hera’s face flush again—she had a feeling she knew exactly what Xavier wanted to say, but she pushed the thought to the back of her mind.
Once they finished eating, they both dove right back into their work.
Given the complexity of the situation and the lack of clear evidence, they could only rely on Sasha to complete his tracking of the missing funds.
These funds weren’t showing up in the accounts on the server, which was supposed to be accurate.

But as Hera thought about it more carefully, one thing became clear: someone must have transferred those funds at a critical moment when Vince hadn’t noticed.
That was the key piece of information they needed to uncover.
For the next two days, Hera and Xavier stayed in the president’s office, continuing their investigation.
Meanwhile, Leo, Luke, and Dave returned late each night, too exhausted to pick a fight with each other.
They simply stripped off their shoes and coats before collapsing into bed, they didn’t even mind that they are sleeping in the same bed without Hera.
As for Hera and Xavier, the assistant provided them with food and fresh clothes.
Despite Hera having a clearer sense of the situation and forming her own theories on what might have happened, it was still difficult to prove without solid evidence.
Even with Sasha’s help, uncovering the truth proved challenging.
Since Hera couldn’t return to her country just yet, she and Xavier had no choice but to call Director Nick and excuse themselves from the script reading and other scheduled activities.
Instead, they used their free time to practice in the room during breaks and read through the script together.
Luckily, as the male and female leads of the movie, most of the lines were shared between Hera and Xavier, which made for great practice.
Upon realizing this, Director Nick didn’t make things difficult for them.
After all, with Hera working closely with Xavier, he could guide her through any aspects she didn’t fully understand.
They could go over scenes and emotions together, ensuring they both portrayed their characters well on screen.
This also helped them build a better tacit understanding, so if they needed to ad-lib, they could seamlessly flow together.
Director Nick couldn’t have asked for a better dynamic—Xavier was the perfect mentor for Hera if she wanted to improve. As a result, no one interrupted them during their practice.
However, Hera also needed to set aside time for her schoolwork, as she had promised the dean not to neglect her studies.
This was a key condition for being allowed to have more freedom with her schedule and take online classes.
So, while juggling the investigation and script reading, she also had to fit in her studies.
Despite her packed schedule, she didn’t feel pressured.
In fact, she felt fulfilled, as it meant she was growing and developing new skills. She was now able to handle so much on her own, without always relying on her grandfather’s help.
Hera did her best to stay on top of everything, never neglecting any of her responsibilities.
She would check in with Liz from time to time for updates on the request she’d asked her to handle and the design competition Liz had entered her into.
Xavier also noticed how busy Hera was, which is why he did everything he could to help her, all while staying in contact with the three others working on their separate investigations outside.
Often, Xavier would massage Hera’s shoulders, legs, and feet, offering her relief. He also didn’t miss a chance to tease her playfully.
Despite his mischievous moments, his attention made Hera feel more relaxed, as she wasn’t constantly pressured to provide results.
On the third day, just as the tax bureau was wrapping up their investigation—which wasn’t looking good for the Avery branch office—Hera received a text message that made her expression darken.
Her eyes narrowed as she read the contents, and she turned sharply toward the assistant, who was just returning to the office.
“Please arrange a press conference for later this evening,” Hera instructed, her tone serious and commanding. “Invite all the top reporters and media outlets. I also want a live stream set up on the official website of the Avery branch here in Barcelona, so it can be broadcast back home for the headquarters to see.”
The assistant hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to ask for clarification. “Young Miss, are you planning to host the conference yourself?” he asked cautiously.
Hera didn’t respond, but her expression said everything they needed to know.
The assistant couldn’t tell if this was Hera’s last-ditch effort to make a statement to the tax bureau or if she had something up her sleeve this time.
Either way, all he could do was follow her orders. As the acting head of the office with full authority over the matter, Hera was in charge, and it wasn’t his place to question her decisions.
“I’ll arrange it right away,” he said, bowing before leaving.
Until now, Hera had been so easygoing and approachable that the assistant had assumed she was mild-mannered.
Only now did he realize she could also be sharp and commanding when the situation called for it.
Any doubts he might have had vanished completely as he hurried to carry out her orders.
Hera leaned back in her chair, lost in thought, her expression dark and brooding.
Xavier noticed her demeanor and quietly stepped forward, placing his hands on her shoulders and beginning to massage them gently.
“Everything alright?” he asked, his voice calm and soothing, laced with understanding.
Hera remained silent for a moment, her gaze distant, before finally nodding. “Everything will be alright,” she said, her tone heavy and sharp, as if she were holding back something unspoken.
After a brief hesitation, she fell silent again, the weight of her thoughts lingering in the air.
