Chapter 678: Chapter 678 Narrow Road For Enemies
Just thinking about it made Athena cackle like a madwoman in her room whenever she came across such topics as she scrolled through comments from men on social media—men who acted as if they were the prize when, in reality, most of them could barely contribute beyond their meager salaries. Yet, despite offering so little, they had the audacity to demand so much from women.
And to make matters worse, some of them still couldn’t keep their lower halves in check, shamelessly cheating while expecting unwavering loyalty in return.
‘The audacity!’
Her mom and Hera’s mom were both fortunate to have found loyal and trustworthy men, and Athena wanted the same for herself.
She wasn’t in a rush to jump into a relationship, only to end up hurt and heartbroken if things didn’t work out just because she hurried into dating someone her age.
Instead, she preferred to enjoy life, go with the flow, and let fate guide her to her soulmate while she spent her time traveling the world, experiencing new things, and continually reinventing herself.
After sharing a laugh, Hera and Zen decided to give Athena a break, understanding where she was coming from. Zen, too, wasn’t eager to dive into the complexities of relationships just yet. He believed he needed to establish himself first before worrying about matters of the heart.
After all, most women wanted a dependable man—though he knew there were those who sought wealth and material comfort. Still, many had no interest in babysitting a man who expected to be treated like a child, relying on a partner to care for him the way his mother once did.
Since all three had their own perspectives on relationships, none of them criticized the others.
They respected each other’s views, and Athena kept the mood light, making the two laugh until their food arrived.
As they started eating, their conversation continued in a lively, cheerful atmosphere.
“By the way, after our costume fitting later, it looks like we’ll also be doing a photoshoot for the promotional cover,” Zen mentioned, taking a bite of his Xiaolongbao. “They want to release the cast lineup and start the marketing campaign before filming begins.”
“Oh? I thought we were just getting the full script and doing a final fitting,” Hera said, looking up after swallowing her food.
“Well, I heard that one of the major investors is pressuring the director to start filming as soon as possible now that the casting is complete.”
“Don’t you think this is a bit rushed?” Hera asked.
As far as she knew, while the costumes were nearly finished after being expedited, many other preparations were still incomplete.
For instance, certain scenes required them to run through city streets overrun with zombies, meaning they needed to make it appear that the roads were abandoned and filled with wrecked cars to create the right atmosphere.
Closing off even a few non-major roads would require clearance, which could take time for approval.
Additionally, they had to set up the scene by arranging vehicles as props, ensuring the area was properly prepared.
Filming on public streets also meant coordinating with government authorities and traffic officers to regulate and redirect traffic.
Given the logistics involved, everything had to be carefully scheduled, approved, and executed.
From what she could tell, it seemed impossible that the director had already secured the necessary permits.
After all, most of the scenes were set outdoors, with the characters constantly on the run, fighting zombies, and struggling to reach safety. Aside from a few indoor shots, the majority of the filming required large open spaces.
Hera couldn’t shake the feeling that the investor had no idea what he was doing. He was likely just eager to kickstart production so he could cash in on the box office returns as soon as possible.
But rushing the process could compromise the film’s quality, and that was the last thing Kisha wanted.
The script was solid—too good to be wasted on a poorly executed production. If they didn’t take the time to do things right, they might fall short of the expectations they had set for the movie.
“Well, if things aren’t going your way, why don’t you just invest yourself and kick that troublemaker out of the investor lineup?” Athena suggested, her frustration mounting as she struggled to pick up her wonton with her chopsticks.
The slippery dumpling kept slipping off her plate, and in her irritation, she blurted out her thoughts without considering that Zen might not be aware of Hera’s background.
To him, her suggestion could sound completely absurd or delusional.
“That’s actually a good idea,” Zen said with a hearty laugh, as if he had just discovered the perfect solution to their dilemma.

He didn’t dwell on it, though, quickly shifting his focus back to his meal. “Whenever I’m with you, I always end up eating the best food,” he added, savoring another bite as he took a quick look at Hera.
Hera didn’t take Athena and Zen’s comments too seriously. Instead, she wanted to keep an eye on the production team’s situation before making any decisions.
After all, this movie was meant to be a box office hit once it premiered, and according to the novel, everything had worked out just fine for Alice.
She was even supposed to win an award for her performance due to the film’s high quality, action-packed sequences, and thrilling storyline.
That meant one of two things—either the male leads had stepped in and removed the troublesome investor, or the investor had never caused trouble in the first place.
However, as far as Hera knew, Luke was supposed to be one of the film’s investors. If that was the case, then perhaps he was the one who had dealt with the issue in the novel, ensuring Alice’s success.
Either way, Hera decided to wait and see how things unfolded before making any moves. With that thought, she set aside her concerns and focused on finishing her meal.
After eating, the three of them chatted for a little while longer, but soon, it was time to part ways.
Zen and Hera needed to head to the studio, while Athena had to return to her own studio to continue preparing for the upcoming fashion show.
Their lunch together had already been her way of sneaking in a break, leaving her team to handle things temporarily. But with only two days left before the show, she knew another sleepless night awaited her.
At the entrance of the restaurant, they said their goodbyes. Athena hailed a taxi back to her studio, while Hera and Zen, having left their cars behind, decided to walk to the studio instead—figuring the stroll would help them digest their meal.
Unfortunately, narrow roads often make it hard to avoid unwanted encounters. As Hera and Zen made their way back, they unexpectedly crossed paths with Alice and Emily once again—this time, accompanied by Wesley.
The moment Emily spotted Hera and Zen, her nose scrunched up in clear disdain. However, a smug glint flickered in her eyes before she turned on her heel, choosing to ignore them completely. Alice and Wesley followed closely behind her without a word.
Hera chose to ignore them, acting as if she hadn’t seen them at all, while Zen remained completely indifferent. After all, why would he waste his time caring about a spoiled girl with a princess complex who was completely out of touch with reality?
