Chapter 681: Chapter 681 Her Friend Is A Bigshot
‘Yeah, come back to my lounge so I can teach you a lesson properly. I want to see you kneel and beg for my help, just so you’ll finally understand your place. Maybe then, you’ll stop acting so arrogant when you can’t even stand on your own.’ Emily thought smugly, her gaze fixed on Hera, waiting for her response.
“No need,” Hera replied, her expression unreadable. “I’ll just ask a friend to help me out.”
Alice let out a dramatic sigh, as if truly concerned. “You can’t just ask any random person to do your makeup, Hera. This is a major production with millions of dollars at stake—we can’t afford to be careless.” She paused before adding, her tone almost coaxing, “Just come with us, okay? It’ll be easier that way.”
“It’s alright, you guys just focus on finishing your makeup,” Hera said, already typing on her phone. A moment later, she glanced up as a message popped up on her screen. “Looks like my friend is nearby, so it won’t take long for them to get here and finish my makeup.”
“They?” The director raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with curiosity and slight concern. He wanted to step in—after all, this was his production, and resolving issues like this was his responsibility, not something the actors should be handling on their own.
“Oh, Director, she’s just bringing extra hands to speed things up, so others don’t need to wait for me,” Hera replied smoothly, casting a subtle side glance at Emily.
Though her words were directed at the director, the real message was for Emily and Alice—telling them, without saying it outright, to stop talking and just leave already.
Seeing that they couldn’t get the upper hand against Hera, Emily huffed in frustration and stormed back to her lounge. Alice, throwing a sheepish smile Hera’s way—one that others could see—quickly followed, trying to soothe Emily. The rest of the actors in the shared makeup room also dispersed, returning to their seats.
However, since Hera’s room was positioned right between Emily’s private lounge and the shared makeup area, it gave everyone a clear view of what was happening.
Curious onlookers subtly kept an eye on her, waiting to see if these so-called “friends” she had mentioned would actually arrive. They even left their doors open under the guise of casual indifference, eager to witness how things would unfold.
“Let’s see if she can actually get someone to help her with her makeup. If not, she’ll have wasted everyone’s time just because she refused to lower herself and share a makeup artist. Such a diva,” Emily scoffed, making sure her voice was just loud enough for others to hear under the guise of being blunt and straightforward.
She was carefully crafting a persona—one that was direct and outspoken yet still kind and magnanimous inside. After all, people tended to admire those who spoke their minds while maintaining a generous and down-to-earth image. And Emily knew exactly how to play into that to sell herself to the public.
This way, no matter what she said, she could maintain the persona she was carefully crafting—bold yet kind—while freely running her mouth without consequence.
And then there was Alice, always giving Emily an easy way out and ensuring her little schemes played out smoothly.
Why?
Because Emily was also helping Alice build her own image—one that teetered between naïve innocence and genuine openness, making her appear kind-hearted and approachable.
But while they might be able to fool others, Hera and Zen weren’t so easily deceived. Besides, Emily wasn’t skilled enough in acting to fully sell her performance—her stiff expressions and unconvincing delivery made it obvious.
Alice, on the other hand, was a natural. Her sincerity was hard to question unless one carefully dissected her words and actions, which often contradicted themselves—especially when it came to Hera.
Everyone waited while Hera remained calm, casually chatting on her phone. Meanwhile, Zen, who had just finished his costume fitting and makeup, immediately headed to Hera’s small lounge.
“Little sister, they’re going too far in targeting you,” Zen said, his expression dark with frustration. “Do you want to get back at them? It’d be easy to expose these girls on social media and let the public do the rest. That way, they’ll learn not to mess with just anyone.”
It was clear that Zen was genuinely angry. After all, this wasn’t the first time Alice and Emily had set their sights on Hera. He still remembered the tension between Alice and Hera ever since The Quest variety show recording, where they had first crossed paths.
As he worried, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway, followed by the arrival of three women and two men, all carrying large boxes filled with professional makeup kits and tools.
A production staff member guided them, pointing out Hera’s small lounge. However, the space was so cramped that all five of them couldn’t fit inside together, forcing Zen to step out, looking slightly dumbfounded.
Once outside, Zen stood by the door and watched as the two strong-looking men carefully set down the towering boxes, which nearly reached their waists. After placing them down, they swiftly opened the cases, methodically setting up the equipment before stepping out of the room again.
“Just call us when you’re done so we can pack everything up,” one of the men said before they turned and left, likely heading back to their car to wait. There simply wasn’t enough space in the lounge for them to stick around without getting in the way.
Zen, still standing outside, suddenly froze as he took a closer look at the two women now working around Hera, asking her a few quick questions about the makeup requirements and the look they needed to achieve.
“Little sister! The ‘friend’ you were talking about… is Britney Styles and Sandra Stan?!” he exclaimed, his eyes widening in shock.
Now, not only was Zen gloating, but he also made sure his voice was loud enough for everyone to hear exactly who had come to do Hera’s makeup. His excitement was impossible to miss.
As expected, Emily and Alice hurriedly stepped out of their room, unable to resist taking a look for themselves. Soon, the others followed, curiosity driving them to gather at the doorway. And there, standing inside Hera’s small lounge, were none other than Britney Styles and Sandra Stan.
Who didn’t know these two women—especially Britney? She was a renowned name in the industry, someone every celebrity wished to be acquainted with, let alone have her personally handle their makeup and styling. Just having Britney’s touch on their look could set them trending, allowing them to ride on her influence and become the talk of the town.

But now, seeing Britney and Sandra effortlessly working on Hera, chatting with her as if they were longtime friends, only made Emily and Alice seethe with envy.
They had never expected Hera to have such connections, and instead of tarnishing her reputation, their scheme had completely backfired—giving Hera an even greater opportunity to shine.
“Hera, why didn’t you mention that the friend you invited was such a well-known person?” Alice said with a bright smile, her expression carefully crafted to appear innocent and likable.
