Chapter 683: Chapter 683 PhotoShoot
In the end, Alice had no choice but to settle for the assistant makeup artist. Unlike Hera’s flawlessly executed look—natural yet striking, accentuating the sharp elegance of her features while maintaining an air of cool indifference with a fiery undertone—Alice’s makeup turned out noticeably heavier. The assistant, likely trying to make her appearance more dramatic, ended up applying too much, resulting in a cakier finish.
When Director Nick assessed the final results, he was visibly satisfied with Hera’s look, which appeared effortlessly real, as if no makeup had been applied at all. Alice, on the other hand, lacked that refined touch, and the contrast between the two was impossible to ignore.
Seeing Alice’s makeup and the frustration evident on her face, Zen couldn’t hold back his laughter. It was as if he were deliberately rubbing salt into her wound. Alice, on the other hand, struggled to rein in her temper as she compared her cakey, overly dramatic makeup to Hera’s effortlessly flawless look—it was leagues apart.
To make matters worse, she had kept everyone waiting. Some of the other side characters were visibly irritated, their patience wearing thin as they began to sweat under the lights, causing their own makeup to turn oily and smudged. Their subtle glares and cold attitudes toward Alice only added to her humiliation, making it clear that her unnecessary delay hadn’t gone unnoticed—or forgiven.
“If she hadn’t kept arguing over a makeup artist and had just sat down to get ready like the rest of us, we would’ve all been done at the same time. But look at us now—we’re an hour behind schedule,” one of the extras muttered in frustration.
She was dressed in full zombie makeup and costume, a process that took significantly longer to complete, making her irritation all the more justified.
And she wasn’t the only one—several other actors playing zombies, whose intricate and exaggerated makeup required even more time and effort, were visibly annoyed.
Their collective frustration only intensified the tension in the room, making Alice’s delay even more glaring.
Even Emily was irritated—not just because her attempt to one-up Hera had backfired spectacularly, but also because Alice’s antics had forced her to wait as well. She had used her connections to secure the head makeup artist for herself, throwing her weight around the production team to push Hera aside.
Yet, despite all that, Hera still found a way to handle the situation, and her finished makeup turned out even better than Emily’s. Instead of asserting dominance, Emily had only made herself look like a fool in front of everyone.
To make matters worse, Alice’s fuss over securing one of Hera’s makeup artists had dragged on unnecessarily, delaying Emily in the process. Emily had secretly wanted to have one of Hera’s friends do her makeup as well, but given her ongoing feud with Hera, she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
Alice, however, had no such hesitation—and seeing Alice attempt what she herself couldn’t only deepened Emily’s frustration. Now, on top of everything else, she had another reason to be dissatisfied: Alice.
This time, Emily chose to remain silent, pretending not to hear anything as she focused on inspecting her manicured nails. Alice shot her a few helpless looks, hoping for some support, but Emily remained indifferent, refusing to even glance in her direction.
Left with no other choice, Alice reluctantly followed the rest of the cast to the photoshoot room for their official cover shoot. Afterward, they would need to change outfits and do a quick touch-up for the group cast photo, which would be used for promotional purposes when tagging the individual actors. Only then would the extras finally get the chance to remove their heavy, exaggerated zombie makeup.
One by one, the cast members were ushered to the center of the set against a plain white background, allowing the editor to later composite them into the final cover design based on his creative vision. The priority now was capturing each actor from multiple angles and in various poses to ensure flexibility in editing.
When it was Hera’s turn, a sleek black Ducati Panigale V4 had been positioned on the set, drawing everyone’s attention.
Director Nick immediately approached her. “At some point during filming, you’ll need to ride a motorcycle. For now, it’s fine if you don’t know how—we can use a stunt double, or you can learn if you’re up for it. It’s up to you. But for this shoot, you just need to sit on the bike and strike some cool poses, as if you’re speeding away with zombies chasing after you.”
Behind the motorcycle, several extras in zombie makeup took their positions, adding to the scene’s intensity. While they could later crop images from actual footage, the marketing team needed a strong poster to kickstart the film’s promotion. If necessary, they could always update it with a new version closer to the screening.
Without needing further instructions, Hera swiftly took her position on the big bike. She first sat as if she were speeding away, while the zombie extras behind her posed in pursuit. Leaning forward, she pressed closer to the gas tank, mimicking an intense, high-speed escape. A large fan was placed just below the photographer, sending a gust of wind through her long hair, creating a dynamic and effortlessly cool image.
“Perfect! This is an amazing shot!” the photographer exclaimed, grinning as he peered through the lens, his camera clicking rapidly. Hera smoothly transitioned into different poses, each movement fluid and natural, as the photographer continued snapping away. “This is fantastic,” he murmured, captivated by the visuals. “If only we could get a shot of the bike rearing up on its hind tire, mid-air… now that would be even cooler.”
He was contemplating how to bring his vision to life—perhaps by asking the production team to suspend the bike with wires while Hera posed on it.
However, he quickly dismissed the idea.
Not only would it be complicated, but there was also a high risk of damaging the bike—something they definitely couldn’t afford.
Hera overheard the photographer’s comment, and as luck would have it, the person who set up the bike had forgotten the key in the ignition. Without hesitation, she turned it on, and with a loud rev, she shifted gears. Without moving from her spot, she used her weight to lift the front wheel, executing a flawless wheelie.
Everyone around her gasped in shock, but the photographer was the first to snap out of it. Thanks to his professionalism, he instinctively captured every moment, his camera clicking rapidly.
“Fantastic! This is incredible!” he exclaimed, grinning with excitement.
His assistant, reviewing the shots on the computer, was equally amazed. “Wow… The results are even better than we imagined!” they murmured, unable to tear their eyes away from the stunning images.
As the photographer continued snapping pictures, Hera expertly turned the big bike, her long hair swept by the wind, making her look both heroic and fierce.
Her sharp gaze locked onto the camera, and with a subtle shift in her posture, she accentuated her best angles, exuding both confidence and power.
The fumes from the bike’s exhaust added a dynamic effect to the shots, creating an intense, action-packed atmosphere. The extras behind her, despite feeling the exhaust blast against their faces, maintained their professionalism, striking poses to enhance the scene.
