Chapter 736: Chapter 736 The Fish Was Caught In The Net
Back to the Present
Even though Zhane and the others insisted that they hadn’t stayed at the hotel, the paparazzi wouldn’t be able to verify the truth. They knew the hotel would never release the security footage, as it would violate the guest’s privacy.
This meant they could lie with a straight face while shifting all the blame onto Alice and the other woman, ensuring they bore the full weight of the scandal.
If not for Hera’s timely intervention and quick thinking, they had no idea how they would have escaped this predicament. The mere thought of what could have happened made their stomachs churn.
Even if they hadn’t intended to betray Hera, the reality was that it almost happened—and that fact alone was enough to haunt them.
And if shit really happened, no matter how much they wished to undo the events of that night, the truth would remain unchanged.
And even if they had retained some fleeting awareness while under the influence of the drug, what were the chances they could have fought against it? The thought alone made it impossible to stay composed.
Just thinking about everything that had happened made Zhane, Rafael, and Dave’s anger burn even hotter, sending a chill through their veins.
They couldn’t bring themselves to be forgiving—not to these scheming women. If there was one thing they despised the most, it was being manipulated, and Alice and her accomplice had crossed a line they would never forget.
Now that Alice saw Dave and Zhane standing behind the paparazzi, she felt as if she had been lifted high into the sky, only to be plunged into the freezing winter waters.
The sudden loss of control sent a wave of panic through her—she despised this feeling. She had always been the one pulling the strings, never the one caught in the web of her own schemes.
Although she hadn’t directly conspired with the other woman against Rafael, Dave, and Zhane, she had known exactly what was happening. Instead of stopping it, she had chosen to watch from the sidelines, letting the woman carry out her plan.
That way, if things went south, she wouldn’t be the only one to blame. She had assumed that having someone else involved would allow her to shift responsibility if necessary. But now, as she stood at the center of the storm, she realized—this time, there was no escape.
That was what she had believed—but now, she wasn’t so sure. Could she really shift the blame when Dave was looking at her with such raw fury? His eyes held no warmth, only the cold indifference one might have toward a walking dead man.
A shiver ran down her spine as she instinctively shifted in place. Her ashen face made her look pitiful—almost laughable—but there was nothing funny about the situation she had landed herself in.
Not only had her scheme backfired spectacularly, but she had also made enemies out of Dave, Zhane, and likely Rafael as well. This wasn’t how her life was supposed to unfold—this wasn’t the outcome she had envisioned.
Yet, no matter how much she tried to deny it, everything was spiraling out of her control. Fear gripped her chest, and before she could stop it, her body started trembling.
The paparazzi, like sharks scenting blood, were relentlessly snapping photos and live-streaming the entire scene. Meanwhile, Rafael, Dave, and Zhane fanned the flames, making sure to spell out exactly what had happened.
Their words left no room for doubt—ensuring that everyone watching understood the truth: they had managed to escape unscathed, and nothing had transpired between them and these women.
By doing this, they effectively cut off any chance for Alice and her accomplice to twist the narrative or tarnish their reputations. No misinformation, no scandal—nothing that their enemies could use to fuel the fire and let it spread like wildfire.
“Just so you know, we’ve already sent our people to investigate this,” Rafael said coldly, his gaze locked onto the trembling woman in the bed. “And if I find out you had any part in this, be ready for my retaliation.”
She stared at him, dumbfounded, unable to process how he had managed to escape while she had ended up in bed with a complete stranger.
Panic crept into her expression as the realization dawned—had Rafael known all along? Had he only pretended to be drugged just to turn the tables on her? Her lips trembled with a mix of fear and anger, but at this moment, she was utterly speechless.
After delivering his warning, Rafael turned and walked away, leaving the paparazzi to flood the room. The hotel’s security, deliberately arriving late, ensured the press had ample time to capture every detail of the scandal—crystal-clear photos and videos that would soon dominate the headlines and trending topics.
Only after a full ten minutes did security finally step in, putting on a show of struggling to remove the reporters, all while pretending to uphold the hotel’s policy of protecting its guests’ privacy.
It was all carefully orchestrated under Gerald’s instructions, which Hera had approved. And even if Alice and the other woman attempted to sue the hotel for negligence, their efforts would be in vain—Gerald had already informed Larry Wickman about the situation, and Larry had spent the night preparing his countermeasures.
Not only that, but Larry was also prepared to counter-sue Alice and the other woman for violating privacy laws, as they had concrete evidence proving that it was Alice and her accomplice who had called the paparazzi to orchestrate the scandal.
Their reckless actions didn’t just tarnish the reputation of high-ranking figures like Dave; they also dragged the esteemed name of the Dragon Palace into the controversy—a name that had been carefully protected for years.
Consequently, Larry was fully prepared to file a lawsuit for reputational damage inflicted on the establishment and sought compensation for any financial losses that might arise from the scandal, which had already gone public via the livestream.
This is precisely why Gerald didn’t stop the paparazzi from covering the scandal or even livestreaming it, despite knowing it could impact the hotel’s reputation. His goal was to completely bury Alice and the other woman in the mud.

The latter, being the daughter of a wealthy man, wouldn’t be easy to deal with without facing repercussions, so this was a necessary step for Hera to ensure both women were held accountable.
