Chapter 748: Chapter 748 Hopelessly In Love
“But how can you be so sure that I’d fall in love with you and end up in your bed?” the doctor retorted, refusing to back down.
Leo, however, wasn’t giving her any leeway.
“Ever heard the saying, ‘Prevention is better than cure’?” He shrugged. “Sure, you might not be like other women, but why should I gamble my peace of mind just to test the waters? I’d rather prevent any unnecessary complications before they even begin.”
“But…” The doctor hesitated, chewing on her lower lip as she looked conflicted and pitiful. Her expression made it clear—she wasn’t just worried about herself; she was afraid of losing her job.
“We’ll provide you with a recommendation to any hospital or research team of your choice as compensation,” Leo stated firmly. “It was my people’s mistake for allowing you in, and since I’m the one dismissing you, it falls on me to make amends. However, you’ll need to keep everything that happened here confidential and sign a non-disclosure agreement.”
Leo gave Terry a subtle nod, signaling him to prepare the necessary documents. Terry couldn’t help but feel bad for the doctor—she truly seemed innocent, a professional simply doing her job.
But he knew better than to question Leo’s decision. Leo had avoided the presence of women for years; even his secretaries were all men. Many had assumed he wasn’t interested in women at all—some even speculated he might be gay—until he began courting Hera.
They thought he had finally opened up, which was why they allowed the female doctor in, given that none of her senior brothers were available.
But now, seeing how things turned out, Terry realized he had misjudged the situation. And ultimately, he had only himself to blame.
Terry knew he was fortunate that Leo wasn’t holding him accountable for this mistake. But after hearing Leo’s words, he came to a realization—Leo’s deliberate distance from women in the past might have had everything to do with Hera.
Back then, she was still in a relationship with that star, Alexi, whom Terry had personally investigated.
Only now did it dawn on him that his master had been hopelessly in love with Hera for a long time. This revelation made him see Leo in an entirely new light. And with that understanding, many things that once seemed unclear suddenly started making perfect sense.
Terry immediately got to work, preparing the documents Leo had requested while also making a call to arrange for a new doctor to tend to him. However, as he focused on his task, he couldn’t help but notice that the dismissed doctor had yet to leave Leo’s office.
She stood there, frozen in place, her tear-streaked face filled with stubborn determination and quiet desperation. It was as if she had lost her very soul, unable to accept the reality of the situation as she continued to stare at Leo, hoping for a change of heart.
But Leo didn’t spare her another glance. His brows furrowed in irritation as he pressed the intercom button.
“Please escort the doctor out of my office. I have important matters to attend to,” he stated flatly, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. He didn’t bother softening his words, showing no concern for how they might affect her.
The doctor finally broke down, tears streaming down her face, but Leo remained unmoved. He had already given her more than enough consideration, and her tears held no weight with him.
Just then, an image of someone flashed through his mind, and for a fleeting moment, a gentle smile graced his lips. But just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished, as if it had never been there at all.
The doctor, despite her distress, caught a glimpse of his rare smile. Her eyes widened in shock, but before she could utter a word, security pulled her from the office. She was led to another room, where she was kept under supervision and guarded closely until Terry arrived to handle the rest.
Terry didn’t waste any time. He arrived shortly after, carrying a few folders in his hands. The moment he stepped into the room, he opened the first folder, revealing the non-disclosure agreement.
“Please sign here,” he said, his tone professional but firm. “As compensation for your departure, we’re offering two million.”
Then, he placed another folder in front of her. “You can also choose from these hospitals—we’ve already prepared recommendation letters for you. Additionally, if you’re interested in joining a research team, we’ve included several options. This way, you won’t have to go through a rigorous screening process during interviews. With this recommendation, the interview will be just a formality.”
Terry slid the folders toward the doctor, but instead of responding immediately, she simply smiled.
The doctor looked up at Terry, her eyes red and filled with grievance. “Why go through all this trouble when you could simply let me stay? It’s not like I’d do anything to interfere with your operations or your boss.”
Terry’s demeanor shifted instantly. The warmth in his expression vanished, replaced by an air of quiet intimidation. His tone turned sharp as he met her gaze with a mocking sneer.
“Then tell me—why are you so desperate to stay?” He leaned in slightly, his voice dripping with skepticism. “Don’t try to fool us. You keep insisting that you have no interest in our boss, but the way you’re clinging to this job says otherwise. If you truly didn’t care, wouldn’t you have just taken the offer and left? Hmm?”
Hearing Terry’s words, the doctor’s eyes widened in shock. Her voice wavered as she immediately denied his accusation.
“Who said that?! I just don’t want to feel like I’ve failed! I’ve been competitive since I was young, and being kicked out of my position makes it seem like I did something wrong. It just doesn’t sit right with me!” she hastily explained.
Terry let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. “But my boss already made it clear that this isn’t your fault—it’s ours. We’re even offering you compensation that’s just as competitive as any top position in the market. You’re not losing out on anything… unless, of course, you’re just using this as an excuse to stay close to my master?” His voice was smooth, but his smile carried a chilling edge, as if he could see right through her.
“Fine!” The doctor snapped, slamming her hand down on the table. Without hesitation, she grabbed the non-disclosure agreement and signed her name. Then, she pulled the stack of folders closer, flipping through them one by one before finally settling on a choice. “I’ll go to Providence Everett Medical Center.”

Terry’s brows shot up slightly. “Providence Everett Medical Center it is…”
He handed the recommendation letter to the doctor. It was already signed—she only needed to bring it to the hospital for a formal interview. Without another word, Terry gestured for two bodyguards to escort her out before turning on his heel and heading back to Leo.
“Sir, our preparations are complete. Should we strike?” Terry reported as he entered the office. Leo was engrossed in a stack of documents, his sharp gaze scanning the pages. Slowly, he looked up.
“Not yet.” His voice was calm, but there was an unmistakable edge to it. “Let them scramble for a bit. We’ll make our move next week—swoop in at the perfect moment to secure the best resources and the most favorable outcome.” A chilling smirk curled on his lips.
