Chapter 778: Chapter 778 Her Emotions
The moment she pulled in, the tires screeched violently against the asphalt, leaving long black marks on the ground.

Lined up and ready, the veterans Cindy had summoned were already assembled, geared up with assault rifles slung over their shoulders and eyes locked on her direction.

As Hera stepped out of the car, Cindy rushed over to meet her. Without missing a beat, Hera marched toward the changing room where Cindy had already laid out a tactical full-body suit, bulletproof military vest, and a selection of firearms—everything Hera would need for what was coming.

As soon as Hera stepped into the changing room, she immediately stripped off her clothes without ceremony, tossing them carelessly into the locker. Wasting no time, she slipped into the full-body suit prepared for her.

Unlike the standard gear worn by the others—military cargo pants, black tactical shirts, and vests—Hera’s suit was a sleek, body-hugging suit woven from a titanium-alloy thread blended with other advanced materials.

This wasn’t just for show. The suit offered exceptional durability and flexibility, designed to withstand bullets and blades without restricting movement.

Though the prototype hadn’t passed all the necessary tests yet, it was the latest development from a research facility under the Avery family. Cindy had specifically secured it for Hera, knowing the urgency of the mission left no time for better preparation.

She was taking a gamble, but it was one she had to make. Gerald had informed her that Leo was in serious danger—rated at least a four or five-star threat level. That meant the area they were heading into was a full-blown battlefield, with bombs, grenades, and flying shrapnel tearing through the air.

If Hera wasn’t properly protected, she would almost certainly be injured. Cindy couldn’t allow that.

After slipping into the body suit, Hera laced up a pair of sturdy military boots and secured a tactical vest loaded with spare magazines. Next, she fastened a waist belt lined with even more magazines and a few grenades tucked into side pouches.

She didn’t hesitate for a second—her hands moved with practiced ease as she reached for a pair of gun holsters, strapping one to each thigh.

Now armed with two silver Desert Eagle pistols resting snugly against her legs, she added two tactical daggers to her belt and discreetly slipped a smaller blade into her boot—just in case.

Drawing both pistols from their holsters, Hera aimed them one after the other, testing her grip and sighting along the barrels. The guns were heavy, designed for stopping power, but they didn’t feel unwieldy in her hands.

Thanks to her martial arts training and Zhane’s previous lessons at the shooting range, she was more than capable of handling them. That training saved her valuable time, so she does not need to train to shoot now.

With every piece of gear in place and her confidence rising, Hera was ready. She felt the surge of determination tightening in her chest—she was going out there to find Leo, no matter what stood in her way.

Technically, Hera could’ve just sent her private army to search for Leo. With their skills and equipment, they were more than capable. But the thought of sitting back and waiting for updates from the sidelines only made her more anxious—more helpless.

Her heart wouldn’t allow it.

The idea of not being there, of not seeing Leo with her own eyes, was unbearable. The uncertainty was eating away at her, driving her closer to the edge.

She needed to go. She needed to be the one out there, searching for him. Her resolve wouldn’t let her stay behind—not when Leo was in great danger.

“Young Miss, I just received Gerald’s message—we’ve got a lead on the location,” Cindy reported, her voice quick and steady. “Sasha managed to breach the Hendrix Corporation’s tracking system, which is connected to Sir Leo’s phone.”

“His personal phone was badly damaged and nearly impossible to hack due to its top-tier security systems. Fortunately, even though the device was compromised, it still emitted a faint signal—just enough for his company’s backend tracking system to pick up on.”

“It turns out Leo’s team was also trying to locate him, but someone had been planting decoy signals across various locations, masking his actual position. That’s why it took so long. They had to filter through multiple false leads before finally locking onto his real signal—just before it vanished entirely. That’s also when you got that call from his phone.”

“Luckily, Sir Leo’s team managed to get that far, and with Sasha hacking into their system, we were able to cut through the noise and save valuable time.”

Cindy paused, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her face. “We still don’t know exactly what Sir Leo’s caught up in, but this doesn’t feel like something a ‘mere manager’ would be involved in. He’s been hiding his real identity, that much is clear.”

“But thankfully… it seems his intentions toward you have always been sincere. Still, if it weren’t for Sasha’s expertise, we’d have no idea where to even begin looking for him.”

Just looking at Hera, Cindy could immediately tell how deeply worried she was. Her expression was carved with a seriousness she had never seen before—cold, focused, and laced with unshakable determination.

Hera looked like someone ready to walk straight into a warzone… and pull the trigger if she had to. That’s why she tested the gun earlier—because she meant to use it. The aura around her had shifted completely.

The innocent warmth she once carried was gone, replaced by a quiet fury. Hera wasn’t just preparing for a rescue—she was hunting. And whoever dared to hurt Leo… or, God forbid, had killed him, would pay the price.

The thought of never seeing Leo again twisted her stomach into knots. Hera bit down on her lower lip again and again, unable to stop herself.

She was scared—not just of what might have happened to him, but of what she might do if the worst had already come to pass. In her mind, vengeance no longer felt like a far-off idea.

It was something alive in her now, clawing its way forward. If it came to it, she wouldn’t hesitate to burn everything down.

There was a new danger hiding in her eyes—one that hadn’t been there before.

She was starting to realize that staying passive, playing it safe, and being the girl everyone expected her to be… would never be enough to protect the people she loved.

Hera was beginning to realize that playing passively and remaining who she used to be wouldn’t be enough—not if she wanted to protect the people she loved. Kindness alone couldn’t shield them from the dangers lurking in the shadows.

If she wanted to keep them safe, she needed to learn how to be ruthless when necessary. Only by stepping into the darkness could she block the countless threats that might come her way.

Dark emotions surged in her chest—fear, rage, desperation—and she couldn’t stop them. Her thoughts spiraled out of control, and overthinking began to consume her. Her breathing grew uneven, her fists clenched tightly at her sides.

Then, a firm hand landed on her shoulder.

Cindy.

That simple gesture cut through the chaos in her mind. Cindy had noticed the storm brewing within Hera—the way her emotions were beginning to cloud her judgment, threatening to unravel her composure. Hera’s gaze snapped to her, and for the first time in minutes, her eyes found focus.
