Chapter 780: Chapter 780 Reaching The Location
Just as Cindy had said, there was only a narrow clearing in the forest—far too small for the choppers to land, especially with so many in the air. The moment Cindy began the countdown, the cabin doors were flung open on both sides.

One by one, the combatants leaped out without hesitation. They clutched their rifles tight to their chests, one hand guarding their heads. As their boots hit the grassy terrain, they expertly rolled with the impact, redistributing the shock to avoid injury.

Hera stood at the edge of the cabin, the wind whipping at her body suit. She was the last one remaining. Her heart pounded—not with fear, but focus.

From the co-pilot seat, Cindy’s voice came through the headset, calm and steady.

“Best of luck, Young Miss.”

Hera gave a firm nod before gripping the edge of the chopper’s door. The roaring wind howled in her ears, slamming against her body and threatening to throw her off balance. The force made it difficult to stay steady, but like the others—without a moment of hesitation—she jumped.

The moment she leaped, the helicopter lifted sharply, rising into the sky before banking to the side in a swift maneuver, retreating from the drop zone. A second later, Hera’s earpiece crackled with static, then a calm, authoritative voice came through.

“All teams, the captains and I will be scouting from the air at a safe distance. We’ll stay out of enemy detection range to avoid compromising your positions. Keep your comms active at all times—the support team will assist in guiding you through the jungle. Good luck, everyone.”

The second chopper followed suit, releasing the rest of the combatants before swiftly veering off and disappearing into the sky, heading toward a different location.

As Hera landed and mimicked the actions of the others, she wasted no time. Her hand immediately went to the pistol holstered at her right side—she drew it in one fluid motion and disengaged the safety. She then checked her earpiece, ensuring it was connected to the comms. With a quick press of the button strapped to her neck, she spoke firmly.

“Everyone, get ready to move out.”

Her voice was met with an echo of resolve as the others responded in unison, “Understood, Young Miss!”

With practiced ease, they moved through the forest in a coordinated and disciplined manner. The group split into ten teams, each led by a designated captain.

The first three teams took the lead, entering the jungle ahead of the others to scout the area. Their primary task was to locate and track the enemy while checking for hidden dangers—wired grenades, landmines, or other traps left behind.

While the scouts secured the path, another team focused on identifying optimal sniping positions. One or two members climbed the tallest trees, strapping themselves into place to scan the surroundings.

If the vantage point wasn’t ideal, they would descend and search for a better location. Meanwhile, the support team fed them coordinates to potential high-ground areas. Once the sniping zone was confirmed, the fourth team split from the formation to establish a proper overwatch position—ready to provide cover fire and keep an eye on Hera’s unit from afar.

The remaining six teams fanned out methodically, sweeping the surrounding area to expand their coverage and prevent ambushes.

Hera’s team remained at the center of the formation, heavily guarded to ensure her safety. If the enemy wanted to reach her, they would first have to break through layers of seasoned fighters and a strategically laid-out defense.

With this formation in place, the combatants felt a renewed sense of reassurance knowing that Hera was well protected. This allowed them to focus entirely on monitoring their surroundings as they moved forward—swiftly, yet with calculated caution. Time was against them, and every second mattered.

Once the first three scout teams had finished sweeping the forest for traps and successfully traced the enemy’s path, the main group advanced. It wasn’t long before distant explosions echoed through the jungle, sharp and sudden against the hush of the foliage.

The team didn’t hesitate—they adjusted course immediately, moving toward the source of the noise.

Soon after, the scout team radioed in, reporting that they had arrived at the site of the disturbance and were assessing the situation. The hunt was accelerating.

“Team One reporting in. We have visual on the situation up ahead—approximately 300 meters from your position at the 9 o’clock. We’ve deployed lookouts at the 1 and 3 o’clock for broader coverage, but there’s still no sign of the extraction target. Hostiles are in sight—heavily armed, carrying FAMAS assault rifles. Stay sharp and prepare for engagement.”

One of the captains from the main group spoke up with a smug grin, “What are you afraid of? Our firepower far exceeds theirs. We’ve got M4A1 Carbines and HK417 rifles—superior range, greater penetration, and precision. Sure, they might fire more rounds, but this isn’t about who sprays the most bullets—it’s about marksmanship. And isn’t that what we’re best at?”

Though his tone was cocky, his words were meant to remind everyone that accuracy and weapon quality mattered more than sheer fire volume. Their rifles outclassed the enemy’s, and there was no reason to lose composure.

Hearing this, several veterans nodded in agreement, gripping their weapons more confidently. The main team picked up their pace, sprinting toward the coordinates shared by the scouting unit, while the sniping team began readjusting their scopes.

Most of them had climbed up the cliffs to gain a better vantage point, scaling the steep rocks with heavy sniper rifles slung across their backs and backpacks loaded with extra magazines.

Since the snipers were positioned on higher ground, they had to be extra cautious with their calculations—factoring in wind direction and speed to avoid missing their targets or accidentally revealing their location.

Fortunately, due to the recent series of explosions, many of the trees surrounding the enemy had been blown away, creating a chaotic but open field of view.

Leo’s team was currently taking cover behind a large boulder, and the rocky terrain worked to the snipers’ advantage. There weren’t many obstructions, allowing them a clearer line of sight. However, the battlefield was still a mess—fallen trees scattered everywhere, smoke rising from multiple spots, and debris covering the area.

The enemy had practically torn the landscape apart with explosives, making it difficult to pinpoint the extraction target’s exact location.

To make things more complicated, they had no intel on how many people were with the target. The sniper unit carefully scanned the area through their scopes, sweeping every corner before reporting in and preparing to engage.

Even after some time, Leo was still nowhere to be found.

It wasn’t until Hera’s main group reached the scout team’s position that they finally got a clearer picture of the situation. Everyone dropped low to the ground, taking cover and surveying the scene from a safe vantage point.

From their position, they could see the enemy firing round after round blindly—more to intimidate and flush out hidden opponents than to actually land a hit. The attackers were heavily armed, wearing bulletproof vests and carrying an excessive amount of ammunition and grenades.

But despite their firepower, they lacked discipline. Their movements were disorganized, and their tactics were sloppy.

They didn’t look like trained soldiers or professional mercenaries like Hera’s team. Instead, they resembled thugs—reckless and trigger-happy. The gear they carried was undeniably advanced, which led to only one conclusion: they were likely part of a mafia syndicate.

Only a criminal organization with the right connections and a well-oiled smuggling network could get their hands on that kind of firepower and deploy untrained gang members like an army.

Their strength didn’t come from strategy or training—it came from sheer numbers, stolen weapons, and an overconfidence fueled by desperation and fearlessness.

Now that it was clear they weren’t up against trained military forces, Hera and her team felt a wave of relief. It meant this battle wouldn’t be a fair fight—it would be a one-sided massacre, and they were the ones holding the upper hand.

But even with the odds in their favor, something still bothered Hera. ‘Why would a mafia group go to such lengths just to target Leo?’ The question gnawed at her. This wasn’t just a random ambush—it was personal, calculated.

Narrowing her eyes, she pressed the comm button strapped to her neck. Her voice was calm but firm.”Everyone, prepare for battle.”

“Young Miss, we still don’t have eyes on the extraction target. Wouldn’t charging in now put them in greater danger?” The captain of the sniper team spoke up, his voice measured but firm.

He could sense Hera’s impatience, the tension radiating from her as she clearly wanted to act fast. But he wasn’t about to let her rush in recklessly.

Without a confirmed location of the extraction target, they’d essentially be searching blind, and there was a real risk of Leo getting caught in the crossfire between the two forces.

Hera hesitated, her eyes narrowing in thought as the captain’s words hit home. She couldn’t afford to let her emotions take the lead, not now.

She took a deep breath, then pursed her lips, refocusing. “Alright, hold your positions for now, everyone. Sniper team, I need you to find him, and fast. I trust Cindy’s already sent you his description, so use that to your advantage.” Her voice remained calm, but there was an undeniable edge of worry beneath the surface. “Stay sharp.”

“Understood, Young Miss!” Every captain responded crisply, their voices unified in determination. As time passed, the enemy grew increasingly frustrated, and their movements became more erratic.

Unable to find any sign of Leo, they started to fan out, searching in different directions. Confidence seeped into their voices, but one of the leaders couldn’t hide his malicious grin.
