Chapter 795: Chapter 795 Zhane Getting Suspicios
“Zhane… Zhane… Leo…” Hera sobbed uncontrollably, burying her face against Zhane’s chest, her body shaking with grief. Zhane, frantic and unsure of what else to do, gently stroked her back, his own anxiety growing with each of her cries.

After a moment, overwhelmed by the situation, he carefully scooped her up and began to carry her toward his office.

Seeing Hera’s distressed state, Cindy looked back at the veteran soldiers behind her, her expression firm as she shook her head. She motioned for them to stand guard at Leo’s ward, trusting that Zhane would take care of Hera.

Meanwhile, Cindy quickly made calls, arranging for more personnel to guard Terry and the others. She also communicated with the hospital to reserve the entire floor for Leo and his team.

With the knowledge that someone was after Leo’s life, all they could do now was ensure his protection from the unknown threats closing in on him.

After completing their mission in the forest, half of the veteran soldiers returned to the hospital to stand guard via the choppers dropping them on the helipad, while the other half meticulously cleaned up the area, erasing all traces of their presence.

They knew how crucial it was to make it as difficult as possible for Leo’s enemies to track them down.

Meanwhile, Cindy called Gerald, instructing him to block any news regarding Leo and keep his whereabouts a closely guarded secret.

They were certain that the enemy targeting Leo had connections to the mafia, but the details of their enemies—where their force originated and how large their numbers might be—remained unknown.

It was now Gerald’s job to uncover that information and prepare them for whatever was coming next.

While Hera was emotionally overwhelmed, it was time for her aides, Cindy and Gerald, to take charge.

As they were both older and more experienced than Hera, this was their responsibility: to support her in any way they could. With the current situation, they were determined to show her that she could rely on them completely.

Cindy quickly took charge, organizing everything, while Gerald focused on his investigation. Meanwhile, Zhane gently guided Hera to the elevator, intending to take her to his office. Hera was still crying, torn between wanting to see Leo and the overwhelming fear of what she might find.

Just days ago, Leo had been full of life, strong and energetic, with smooth, unmarked skin. Now, the thought of seeing him in his broken state was almost more than she could bear, and it sent waves of grief through her.

Not long after, Zhane carefully brought Hera into his office, ensuring the door was locked behind them so they wouldn’t be disturbed.

He sat down in his leather chair, keeping Hera on his lap, offering her a sense of safety.

“Hera, it’s okay… you can cry it all out… It’s okay,” he repeated, his voice soft but uncertain. He wasn’t sure how to comfort her—this was new territory for him.

All he could do was reassure her that everything would be alright, even as he struggled to keep his own emotions in check.

They hadn’t informed the others about Leo’s condition yet. Xavier, Luke, Dave, and Rafael were still unaware, but the situation was delicate. Leo had become a part of their close-knit group, and they deserved to know what had happened.

However, with everyone busy, especially Dave, Rafael, and Luke dealing with criminal activities, Zhane knew they couldn’t afford distractions. The danger was far from over, and any slip-up could put them all at risk.

Zhane couldn’t understand how Leo had ended up in such a battered state. All he knew was that Leo was a manager in a major conglomerate, like the Avery family, and with his position, he couldn’t certainly be a target for certain enemies.

But if anyone should be the target of dangerous people, it would have been Dave. After all, Dave was spearheading the war on drugs, going up against criminal syndicates that wouldn’t back down easily.

Those groups would stop at nothing to prevent Dave from dismantling their operations, resorting to any dirty trick in the book to eliminate him. Yet, it wasn’t Dave who had gotten caught in their crosshairs—it was Leo.

How had that happened?

Why was Leo the one in trouble, while Dave remained untouched and safe?

Zhane couldn’t wrap his mind around it. He should have been in the same dangerous situation as Dave, along with Rafael, since they were both actively aiding Dave in his war on drugs.

They had provided significant support to help crack down on these criminal organizations. In fact, both he and Rafael had already received numerous death threats, which is why Zhane had taken extra precautions to secure the hospital, closely monitoring any suspicious individuals.

While Providence Everett Medical Center appeared to be running smoothly on the outside, the reality was far from it. The entire place was steeped in tension.

They had already apprehended several suspicious individuals, handing them over to the police, only to discover that these people were armed with chloroform or guns. It was clear: they were either planning to kidnap Zhane or eliminate him right then and there.

Things had already progressed so far, and Zhane felt completely drained. But he couldn’t bring himself to tell Hera, not wanting to add to her worries.

So, they kept everything to themselves, staying locked in their office and avoiding meeting her these past few days, fearful that any involvement would put her life in jeopardy.

But now, Zhane couldn’t help but wonder: Was this also the very reason Leo ended up in danger?

As he gently soothed Hera, Zhane’s mind wandered into deep thought. He couldn’t shake the question of why Leo had found himself in such danger.

From the fragmented details he’d gathered from the medic accompanying Hera and Leo, he learned that Leo had been rescued in the middle of a forest. Zhane glanced down at Hera, still crying in his lap, clinging to him like a fragile, pitiful koala.

It was only then that he noticed the body-con special suit she was wearing. She hadn’t even bothered to remove the guns and holster strapped to her thighs, which had been pressing uncomfortably into his body for most of the time.

Her waist belt still carried unused magazines, some of which appeared to have already been used, judging by the empty pockets. He could tell that it must have been discarded already.

The realization settled in — she’d been fully geared, ready for action, and perhaps involved in something far more dangerous than he could comprehend.

Zhane’s gaze deepened as he looked at Hera, uncertainty clouding his thoughts.

It was becoming clear that both Hera and Leo were hiding something, secrets they weren’t ready to share with anyone.

Earlier, he had noticed the group with Hera — Cindy, who had been comforting her, and the towering figures who stood like silent sentinels around them.

These were clearly seasoned veterans, still armed and alert. Normally, armed individuals wouldn’t be allowed in the hospital, but given Leo’s critical condition and the imminent danger they had all been facing, Zhane had used his authority to overlook the rule.

His decision, however, had stirred unease among the hospital staff, particularly the doctors and nurses who were now on edge.

The presence of these heavily armed figures, combined with the fact that four of them — Leo included — were all suffering from serious gunshot wounds, had only heightened the tension in the hospital.
