Chapter 828: Chapter 828 A Big Spender
Hera continued to ignore Alice, which only made Alice seethe even more. That cold shoulder felt like a slap to her pride, and now she was even more determined to humiliate Hera—especially once it was revealed that her so-called “black card” was useless in this store.

But Athena and Liz had already caught on to Alice’s true intentions. Athena just smirked, unbothered. She knew exactly what Hera was capable of when it came to spending power—something even Athena, despite her wealthy background, couldn’t match.

Athena could shop freely only when she was with Hera, because while her own allowance had limits set by her family, Hera’s wealth was on an entirely different level. Her very first pocket money from her grandfather was a jaw-dropping 100 billion. And ever since receiving the Black Dragon Card, all the revenue from her family’s powerful business empire flowed directly into that account.

That’s what made the card so legendary—not just that it was a high-tier card accepted across all luxury brands, but because it was a unique debit card that also functioned as a membership card. Even more impressive, it had advanced anti-theft technology, making it immune to modern scams like RFID card skimming. In other words, Hera’s card—and her status—was untouchable.

Athena was eagerly anticipating the moment Alice’s smug expression would crumble when she realized just how powerful Hera’s card really was. With a sweet, almost innocent smile that barely hid her mischief, Athena turned to Alice and offered, “Why don’t you come with us and see for yourself whether Hera’s pretending to understand French—or using a fake black card?” Her tone was light and friendly, as though she were casually inviting Alice for a stroll in the park, but her gleaming eyes said otherwise.

Hera, already familiar with Athena’s brand of mischief, rolled her eyes but didn’t object. As far as she was concerned, the best way to deal with someone like Alice was to ignore her completely. After all, if she didn’t react, what could Alice really do?

As they waited, another staff member arrived and politely ushered Hera and her group into a VVIP room. Instead of standing awkwardly in the boutique, they were now seated on plush sofas, and moments later, a service cart was wheeled in—complete with an expensive bottle of champagne and a charcuterie board featuring Paris’ finest cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal fruits.

Athena, already familiar with this kind of luxury thanks to her past shopping trips with Hera, made herself comfortable without hesitation. She sat back, picked up a piece of cheese, and began to snack casually while one of the staff popped the champagne and gracefully poured them each a glass.

Seeing all this unfold, Alice could hardly contain her excitement. ‘Just imagine— the staff had already ushered them into a VIP room, popped open an expensive bottle of champagne, and served a luxurious charcuterie board. How furious will they be once they realize Hera’s card is worthless? Would they blacklist Hera and everyone with her? Ha! I can’t wait to see it blow up in their faces!’

Alice nearly squealed with delight but managed to restrain her expression, settling instead into a discreet corner with the perfect view—just close enough to capture every reaction through the hidden camera she had carefully set up.

After serving the drinks and snacks, the initial staff quietly retreated. Now that Hera and her group had been assigned a dedicated sales associate, the others knew better than to linger—they didn’t want to appear as if they were trying to steal a sale. Boundaries had to be respected, especially since their salaries and commissions were separate.

Once the room settled, Athena encouraged Liz and Minerva to sit and relax with her, striking up a cheerful conversation. Hera, meanwhile, remained quiet, elegantly sipping her champagne. She listened to Athena’s lively chatter with a calm grace, her serene smile appearing now and then.

From Alice’s vantage point, this only fueled her frustration. Hera looked effortlessly poised and stunning, and Alice could already imagine the chat section flooding with compliments.

‘This wasn’t how it was supposed to go!’ She had come to witness Hera’s humiliation, not to accidentally boost her popularity. Instead of embarrassment, Hera was drawing even more admiration—and Alice was the one left fuming in the shadows.

Not long after, the sales associate returned, unable to hide the wide grin on her face. Behind her was the store manager, holding Hera’s card with both hands and presenting it with noticeable respect. From their demeanor alone, it was clear that the black card had not only been accepted but likely held an elite-level membership.

In fact, had Hera’s card been rejected, Minerva had already prepared to step in with her own. Even though her membership was registered in their home country, Hermès honored international members, and she was determined to protect Hera from any embarrassment. But now, watching the warm and respectful reception Hera was receiving, Minerva finally allowed herself to breathe a sigh of relief, her heart settling as tension melted away.

“Miss Hera, here is your card,” the store manager said respectfully, bowing slightly as she handed it back. “We have verified that this card grants access to all luxury brands and exclusive stores, and it holds the highest level of membership available. Thank you for your patronage. Please wait a moment—our staff is bringing in the bags and accessories for you to browse and make your selections.”

Hera smiled back, then picked up the brochure in front of her, casually flipping through the pages of the new collection. After all, VVIP rooms like this always had the latest brochures ready, making it easy for clients like her to browse without having to ask the sales associates individually. Athena, noticing Hera’s interest, leaned in to check the brochure as well.

With Athena quiet for the moment, Liz and Minerva exchanged glances, both content to look through the brochure too while they waited. Since they were already here, it wouldn’t hurt to pick out a piece or two for themselves. Now that it was clear Hera’s card was legitimate, they were eager to see Alice’s face when she realized her embarrassing mistake.

Meanwhile, Alice was growing more anxious by the second. Her face paled as she shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her hands twitching with unease. She had the feeling Hera was about to deliver a figurative slap to her face, but there was nothing she could do to escape the situation.

Sitting at the far end of the room, Alice couldn’t just slip away without drawing attention. If she moved, everyone would notice, and she was certain Athena would taunt her for trying to run. Not that Alice could avoid the inevitable; even without glancing at the chat flooding her live stream, she knew that viewers were on edge, waiting for the drama to unfold.

Amidst her growing nerves, Alice was jolted when Hera spoke again, her voice calm and composed. “Could you please prepare the new collection? I’d like to see the dresses and jewelry together.”

At her words, both the store manager and the sales associate exchanged knowing glances. It was clear that Hera was no stranger to high-end shopping. She was accustomed to seeing the entire ensemble—dresses, jewelry, and accessories—laid out together, likely on a small runway, to visualize how everything complemented each other.

Their eyes brightened with understanding. Hera wasn’t just browsing; she was a serious, high-spending client. This only confirmed what they had already suspected: she was exactly the type of customer they dreamed of.

Before long, the store manager had called for models with similar body types to Hera’s, and the staff quickly expanded the room to accommodate a small runway. One by one, the models strutted down, each wearing a different dress, complete with matching jewelry, bags, and shoes. They twirled and posed before returning to the back.

Hera, on the other hand, sat calmly, tablet in hand. Whenever she liked a combination, she’d tap it on the screen, and it would instantly be added to her cart for calculation. Athena, Minerva, and Liz did the same, their eyes following the models with practiced ease, already familiar with the routine. The quiet hum of approval among the group was palpable, and no one needed to speak much.

Only Alice, who had never seen anything like this before, was left in stunned silence. She couldn’t help but nervously gulp, unsure of what was happening but sensing that the atmosphere was shifting dramatically.

After about an hour, Hera’s cart was nearly full. Liz, Athena, and Minerva had also selected a few pieces before stopping to relax. Just then, the store’s most exclusive limited-edition bags were brought in. The centerpiece among them was a stunning crocodile leather handbag, adorned with a pure gold lock and clochette. Even the hardware was solid gold, encrusted with diamonds—its price tag a staggering $889,000.

When the sales associate casually mentioned the price, Alice instinctively sucked in a sharp breath, her face paling as her eyes trembled, fixed on the bag now being presented to Hera. The associate, wearing gloves, handled the bag with extreme care, ensuring not even her nails would graze its surface—any damage would make her personally liable, and it was far beyond what she could ever afford to replace.
