Chapter 93: Chapter 93 Back to Work
“Sabby, you’re not the only one with a son here… My son also has good stamina and a strong physique. I’m certain Hera would find him just as appealing,” another auntie chimed in, joining the teasing, causing their son to blush intensely from face down to their neck.
Naturally, they found Hera stunning, ethereal in fact in her beauty, treating her like a fairy. However, they couldn’t help but feel like mere squids compared to Zen, and even more so, to Xavier, realizing they didn’t stand a chance.
Nevertheless, they sucked in a nervous breath, eagerly awaiting Hera’s response to their mothers’ teasing and playful jabs.
Caught off guard by the teasing, Hera found herself speechless, unable to respond. Sensing her discomfort, Sabby continued with her banter, maintaining the rapport without further pressuring Hera for a response from her previous teasing.
“I can’t believe a pretty girl like you doesn’t have a boyfriend,” Aunt Sabby pressed, joined by her other auntie friends who gathered around Hera, eager for gossip.
Hera found herself torn between laughter and tears, unsure how to react to their sudden interest in her love life.
One auntie chimed in, “Are you one of those girls?”
“What girls?” Hera inquired, tilting her head in curiosity.
“Those girls they call ‘NBSB’.”
Another auntie quickly interjected, playfully slapping the arm of the auntie who had just asked. “Come on now, we’re surrounded by the older folks here. Let’s not play games like those young adults. Just say it straight so everyone can understand,” she remarked with a touch of frustration.
“Alright, don’t beat me. You’re such an impatient old woman,” She playfully retorted.
“What?!” The auntie raised her hand again, but it was all in good-natured banter among friends.
“My daughter says it stands for ‘No Boyfriend Since Birth’,” The aunt explained.
“Are you kidding me? Look at how beautiful our Hera is! Do you really think she’s ‘NBSB’?” the aunties exclaimed incredulously.
“Well, that does make sense,” another auntie chimed in, nodding thoughtfully.
Hera pouted and responded. “I had a boyfriend before…”
“Before?” The auntie pushed Hera to say more, they wanted to gossip like a young girl but little did they know that there were even more people listening to them, like the viewers who were tuned in to Hera’s livestream and there was also Xavier who was silently eating but his attention was on what Hera and the others are talking about.
If one observed him, they might assume he was deeply engrossed in his meal, yet his ears remained attentively perked up.
“Come now, dear, spill the beans! How many boyfriends have you had?” Aunt Sabby inquired excitedly. “Was it ten, fifteen, or were you simply toying with young men’s hearts? Hmm?”
“Aunt Sabby, what kind of girl do you think I am?” Hera retorted, pouting with an irritated expression before continuing. “I’ve only had one boyfriend since my sophomore year of high school, and we just broke up last week.” As Hera spoke, she was aware that the production team would likely use these shots to stir up drama once the recording was released. However, she also realized she felt indifferent about the topic now.
No pain, no bitterness, just nothing. She was indifferent about it.
“No way! Who would believe that? Even my daughter has had three boyfriends already!” Aunt Sabby exclaimed incredulously, leaning in closer to Hera to press for more information. She was inclined to believe her daughter’s assertion that city girls changed boyfriends as frequently as they changed clothes, so she wasn’t too concerned about her daughter’s relationship history anymore because it often led to fights. She reasoned that times had changed, and attitudes towards dating had likely shifted as well.
Hera couldn’t help but chuckle at Aunt Sabby’s expression. “It’s true, believe it or not,” she confirmed, before delving into an explanation of how busy she had been, juggling her studies and part-time jobs since she started working. While she omitted certain details that might obviously lead to Alexi, but she subtly dropped hints that attentive viewers might pick up on.
“Isn’t that the most foolish excuse a man could use? Don’t tell me he was cheating? He must be blind,” Aunt Sabby exclaimed, her frustration evident. She couldn’t decide whether she was more exasperated by Hera’s ex’s apparent foolishness or by the possibility that he was blinded by greed of wanting to have more women by his side.
Hera avoided answering the questions after giving her own account of the story, this was already enough for the viewers as ammunition to clear her name and to avoid any trouble in the future concerning Minerva and Alexi. She just couldn’t pass any opportunity to make sure that her proof and evidence alongside her side of the story to be known by most people without mentioning anyone’s name.
This will give her a better standing in people’s hearts as the victim who magnanimously shielded the people who harmed her. Hera couldn’t help but be gleeful after her inner villainess strikes without giving much of her intentions.
Her every action appeared subtle and innocent, yet in truth, it was meticulously calculated.
Once they finished their lunch and small talk, Hera and the others returned to their work. With the milk and other produce already delivered to the market and production warehouses, Hera was directed to where the cows were fed.
She received comprehensive training on cow care, learning the proper feeding regimen and how to inspect for wounds to prevent infections. Regular checkups were conducted to ensure the livestock remained healthy and compliant with health protocols.

As she thought the training session had concluded, Hera was surprised to be instructed to don a protective suit and boots. Though puzzled, she complied, and even the cameraman was outfitted in similar gear. Their confusion dissipated when they were led to clear the cow manure from the barn, where the cows spent much of their time alongside the open grazing area and the milking parlor.
The overpowering stench of manure filled the air as they entered the barn, causing the cameraman’s lips to twitch incessantly. Aunt Sabby and the others cast worried glances at Hera, aware that city dwellers were unaccustomed to such odors and might struggle with them. Even the cameraman couldn’t help but scrunch his nose in distaste after stepping inside.
Hera remained unfazed as she surveyed the spacious barn. Its size explained why a dozen people were needed to clean it up. The villagers were surprised to see Hera displaying no signs of discomfort. It was natural for them to assume she would struggle, considering her lack of experience in animal care. However, Hera was proving herself more than capable.
“You’re not feeling uncomfortable with the smell of the manure?” Aunt Sabby inquired, inching closer to Hera. She suspected Hera might be putting on a brave front to avoid offending anyone, but Aunt Sabby wanted to assure her that it was perfectly acceptable to express any discomfort she felt. She wanted Hera to know that they wouldn’t judge her for it.
Hera shook her head before responding, “Well, poop is supposed to be smelly.” Her remark caused Aunt Sabby to cackle back and forth as they walked inside together, each holding a floor wiper.
Upon hearing Hera’s response, the other villagers ceased worrying about her and joined in the laughter with Aunt Sabby.
[AuntieNextDoor: Hahaha. Her delivery was priceless! Innocent and confused, yet hilarious. I can’t stop laughing!]
[PasserbyGod: Absolutely! I nearly fell off my chair laughing. But seriously, that smell can knock you off your feet, especially for first-timers. Kudos to Hera for handling it so well.]
[HeraismySister: That’s one of the things I admire about her. She’s genuine and down-to-earth. Her reaction was priceless!]
[JustPassingBy: I remember visiting my grandparents in the countryside, where they had cows too. The size of the manure piles was bigger than my face, and the smell was unbearable. I gagged a few times; it was so uncomfortable.]
As a result, viewers tuning in to Hera’s livestream found a common topic to discuss, sharing their own experiences and praising Hera’s adept handling of the situation. They also began discussing Hera’s interactions with the villagers thus far. This marked the most amicable interaction witnessed on the Variety Show ‘The Quest’ to date.
Because it was evident that the villagers visited by the Variety Show were somewhat aloof from the show’s participants and often held judgmental views of city folks.
