Chapter 102: Satisfied Customer
A lot of good food.
That’s what the lunatics would actually want, but if that wasn’t possible, they could survive with spoonfuls every other day.
Just not today.
Because today, someone figured it would be a good day to torture the unsuspecting students of the Academy.
Princess Kira decided to grace the cafeteria with her elegant (domineering) self and figured it was right for her to help those in need.
Yes, in need.
These people needed access to important information so they could at least be as cultured. Thought Kira as she strutted towards her usual table.
All of this began when the Princess overheard her attendants discussing a very famous online store.
Of course, as the Princess who had always had the best of everything, it was relatively unacceptable for her to be this far out of the loop.
So she searched and subsequently went down the rabbit hole.
The Princess was familiar with such fruits. She actually enjoyed a lot of them as their Galaxy still had such luxury, so she initially didn’t think much of it.
But then she saw something golden and fluffy and immediately asked her attendants to broker a purchase for one.
At any cost.
Now, obviously, the products already had owners, and she could only buy second-hand goods if someone was willing to sell them.
As expected, no one was willing to sacrifice what they nearly died for. But the Princess was relentless and managed to broker a lucrative deal (a scary one) to obtain what was half of the original bowl.
The original buyer was planning to preserve and immediately partitioned his bowl the moment it arrived. What he didn’t expect was for a certain Orc to come knocking with some tidings (innocent-looking threats).
While the Princess didn’t actively use any coercive methods, only someone who didn’t care for their lives would refuse. And that was how the original buyer received 200 million in exchange for half of his bowl.
It was a trade that left him both happy and devastated. And for the next months, he would still wonder if he should’ve just thrown the gauntlet and fought for his rights.
On the other hand, the successful Princess decided that she was up for a charity show and brought her winnings to the cafeteria for her new friends and subjects to see.
She even used the family heirloom to magically preserve the food, although it should’ve lasted longer because of its nature.
Kira was willing to pay 200 million because seeing it in person was another matter. Those photos really did the bowl dirty because they couldn’t show just how much spiritual energy it contained.
Therefore, the dish was definitely worthy of being stored in her magical space, which actively used energy, unlike the typical space buttons.
So, when the Princess took out her precious half of the Egg-Fried Rice, those with keen noses immediately looked—including Jax.
Jax was actually seated with Kyle, His Captain, the mop, and Luca. These five decided to stick close by in case something came up, but who would’ve thought that something would actually happen?
It didn’t take long for the commotion to begin as many of the students gathered to observe the theatrics by the Princess’ table.
The Princess was actually just as curious because she hadn’t tasted the dish after buying it just to preserve its look when she bought it back for others to see.
After the others prompted the Princess to taste it while they watched with rapt attention, Kira decided that it was time to start the show.
But the show-and-tell did not happen as she imagined.
The first bite was like the morning sun.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
While the next bite was what she imagined a lover’s touch to be like.
And the third? It was practically heaven.
And well, the fourth would’ve been something better had there been a fourth bite.
But she inhaled the bowl in three bites.
Three.
Everyone gasped at how fast it disappeared, and the others who were hoping to ask for a bite were devastated at how the Princess ate it all before they could even exhale.
But if they were saddened by it, the Princess was doing far worse. She was actually traumatized.
In her brain were questions of how she would possibly eat again after tasting something like that.
If anything, she expected to find good things in this galaxy, as the Empire’s major cities were known for their novel creations, but she didn’t expect to find something like this.
But close to her table were severely melancholic people.
Jax, the creature of joy and relaxation, was actually depressed. Before, he easily found happiness in eating solid food from the cafeteria. But right now, every bite felt like an added jail sentence. And he was not alone.
Five people felt the weight of the world as they kept on forcing ‘food’ in, and Ollie now understood why Luca looked like he was drinking vinegar the whole time.
But even now, Luca was fine with the taste; what bothered him was calculating the amount of money they could’ve saved if all five of them had eaten for free back at his space.
And they all released a collective sigh.
At this, Xavier could only feel the exasperation as he figured out exactly how their covers would be blown up.
These people…
He was with people who couldn’t school their expressions to save their lives!
Kyle would normally agree, but as someone who was sticking it out even at the likely threat of getting beheaded, he really couldn’t complain.
And who wouldn’t feel like this when the aroma wafted around like a temptress?
However, being sad did not diminish their senses one bit. In fact, they were all high-strung, waiting for feedback on something they had just sold.
Luca was especially sensitive because this was the first time he had seen a customer eat something he had prepared himself. Unlike the fruits, he could actually be blamed for the food’s success or failure. While his buddies liked his cooking, they didn’t have to pay money, so Luca thought they wouldn’t judge its worth that way.
But the feedback far exceeded what they were expecting as the Princess wore a very serious look.
“Ada,” Kira called her confidant and trusted aid.
“Yes, Princess?”
“I need you to look for this famed seller. Considering it properly, I think it is but right for me to take up the mantle of responsibility.”
Princess Kira thought about it, and however she turned the idea around, there was only one smart way for her to deal with her new predicament.
“We need to find the vendor as soon as possible so we can broker an engagement. While my heart is set on my Bunbun, I cannot, in good conscience, disappoint our people.”
“So, I will stand by my duty to ensure the good of our brethren.”
She must marry this seller.
Princess Kira felt like her Bunbun would understand. After all, he sacrificed for the Empire when this conscription came knocking to take him.
It was the same for her. And she should be fine because just the other day, she read a story about an arranged marriage between an innocent man and a powerful royal.
That was just like her, and even though she was not a man, she was definitely a powerful Royal. Now, all she needed was to find her new Prince.
The Princess was too focused on her life to notice how the table closest to theirs cracked from the middle.
It didn’t make a sound. But it didn’t have to because the people sitting around the table wouldn’t have heard it.
They wouldn’t have cared.
Ollie’s fears were coming true. His brother was now wanted.
Were his godkids going to be a bit green and too big to carry? How would this all work out when his brother was already signed for?
Luca wasn’t sure what was happening. Because he couldn’t hear much of it when he realized that the table in front of him was cracking as ice shards started growing on it. The stunned lad was too distracted to even hear the threats against his innocence.
But that wasn’t the case for Xavier, who heard every word.
It sounded like a direct challenge.
Kyle knew this look and especially knew those icicles.
Their Imperial Prince had just awakened their bloodline ability, and the poor adjutant was blocking the small icicles with his damn body.
Death. Death. Death!
